Whenever it appears on the roadmap. When that will be ?? nobody knows. Could be in May’s Roadmap next month or it could be 5 years away. I also would love to see more Dutch content but if I really really had to pick one country it’s got to be France for me. France is VERY overdue. The Dutch route we got was pretty average in my opinion but the loco’s were great and they were very unique. It feels weird but cool driving a train higher up than usual. Hopefully it won’t be too long for the next Dutch DLC.
It’s about time for dozens of countries to make their debut. At least Dutch stuff is already in the game.
zwolle groningen was a good foundation route but frankly i’m bored of it, there’s only so many times you can drive in a straight line with stops every 10 minutes or so. maybe something like dordrecht- den haag would be a good option, a more interesting line with some new rolling stock as well as existing layers being available
I'm also hoping for more Dutch content. As far as I can tell, Zwolle-Groningen was a succes. Seems to be a popular enough DLC. Should be followed up on.
We have to wait, you never know what will happe3n, but it is unlikely DTG starts investing in a new country for just one route.
They did say that Zwolle Groningen was to be their first Dutch route so they could test the water with plenty more to come. Kind of like how Spirit of Steam was to be their first Steam route to test the water with plenty more to come... ___________________________________________________________________ No - turns out I was wrong. They didn't say that. See below.
Well we did get one more steam route, but not one that fixed any of the problems with steam that they said they were going to fix.
That bit they did not say. Any questions about further Dutch routes have always been met with non-committal responses about recognising the enthusiasm and, basically, wait and see.
I'd personally like to see a route featuring Amsterdam Centraal, as that would then also give DTG a reason to develop some single-level TGV trailers to place between the PBKA power cars which we basically already have..... Such trailers could then be recycled for another French route, requiring only development of a TGV Réseau power car. A power car which itself could then serve as a new add-on for an Amsterdam route and also layer in to a remastered Marseille-Avignon.... JB
Really want another Dutch route, but my initial fears about the Groningen route played out, it got boring really quick. Never understood the choice, even for a first route. Any addition would be need to be a route that covers one of the major cities and also locations where the Koploper and SNG are also at home. Ideally, they could add the VIRM, I'd like to see it in TSW.
Well, with Zwolle-Groningen they could make a full route with two logical end points since there aren't that many stations that needed to be modelled. And they could make a full timetable with only 2 train types. So yeah, I understand their route choice. Even though it's a pretty boring route.
I've just checked and you're correct https://www.youtube.com/live/TnS5FoFu-R0?si=8vxJEL7RhqrZEaeO&t=4052 start at 1:07:32
I’d like to see a proper French route away from the high speed. I mean our next door neighbour and no content? Seems a bit weird.
Den Haag - Breda even better, then you also get the Moerdijkbruggen and with extending the HSL to Schiphol or even Amsterdam, it's perfect for speed restrictions and for including the ICNG. The second included train could be the VIRM. This route even can be a start for a connection to and first route in Belgium.
I think we can consign the Netherlands to the same bin as Steam, France, Canada and most possibly Austria. An project cut short before the fruits could be seen most likely due to the bean counters being too impatient and expecting instant high returns with zero understanding that you need a varied ecosystem for a DLC to thrive which just doesn’t happen at the first or even 2 release.
I get the feeling DTG are leaving it up to third parties to develop routes for countries other than the core bunch.
They are not out of service. I was at Amsterdam central station a few days ago and there are a lot of koplopers coming in and going out. Yes they’re slowly disappearing but they will still be in service until 2030
that’d be a silly thing for them to do imo, their first attempt was very solid and there’s no reason for them not to do more
I would've though the same about Austria... however DTG didn't really follow up on their first Austrian route either.
we’ve had semmeringbahn, vorarlberg and rosenheim-salzburg, i know 2 of those are cross-border but it’s still more than the netherlands has got
They seem to be leaving everything to third parties now, including the "core" countries, as currently there's nothing in the roadmap that is in-house
Now that Metro Rivals has been cancelled DTG might go back and focus on making TSW content again. We will see.
It’s often the same at this time of year, anything being developed by DTG while be kept for the next reiteration
I really hope to see the IC Direct between Rotterdam and Lelystad one day. It has a good amount of bridges like the Weesp bridge and the one between Noord-Holland and Flevoland. You’ll go right through the zuid-as, the financial district of Amsterdam. You’ll stop under Schiphol. And you’ll be able to get up to 200km/h. It also curves a lot and doesn’t have a lot of long straight sections which is the main downside of Groningen-Zwolle.
That could be a nice route too, but would extend it to Breda. When you're in Rotterdam, the section to Breda is not that long anymore and with section included, it's almost the complete HSL.
I would like a route with plenty of variety like stoppers, express, freight and switching. If thats even possible.
Well, the first Dutch route from TSW5 had a lot of good reviews; it had more than 4 out of 5, and if I'm not mistaken, DTG wants to undertake a second Dutch route. On the other hand, it is true that if a follow-up route is developed based on that, it will indeed be announced on the roadmap.
For DTG the most important thing is how well it's sold. With good reviews but low sales, they will be not interested in doing another one. But we not really know how well they sold it, but I hope we get more. I even would be happy with a loco add-on like the SLT or VIRM for Zwolle - Groningen
I would love more Dutch routes, especially if they give me more opportunities to drive the Koploper. Zwolle was one of the few routes that I bought on release at full price because I wanted to support their first foray into the region. I don't regret it. The route is beautiful (IMO) but it can be a bit of a boring drive if I'm not in the right mood. Getting another route to spice things up a bit would be nice.
The sales figures are indeed unknown, but perhaps that will boost when they add the VIRM and SLT as an expansion, even if it is just an add-on. In addition, Zwolle-Groningen had many good reviews from other players, so I speculate that it did not lack sales based on figures.
People who are interested in this Dutch route or Dutch routes in general or something new, most likely bought it and also liked it, what gives the good reviews. The question remains, how many people where interested in it and bought the route? For example, are people from the UK or US interested in a route like this. In the end it was also included in the Special Edition of TSW6, I don't think they will count it as sales for this specific route, but the good reviews can also come from people who got it this way. Releasing extra trains for this route, can give sales of this route a boost, as you get more variety.
I’d hope the next Dutch route is more ambitious than the last one. I know they were testing the waters with their last route, but some variety for the next route would not go amiss.
If they make a route around Rotterdam, there is a lot to see and to do. There is a High Speed Line, (older) regular lines and a lot of freight. Nearby on the route to the south, there is the biggest freight yard of the Netherlands (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kijfhoek_classification_yard) and more to the south there are some (railway) bridges: The Hague to Breda could be a nice route, in the middle you have Delft, Rotterdam and Dordrecht as bigger stations and also a lot of smaller ones. Freight is coming and going from and to the harbour and going in all directions, Kijfhoek Freight yard is between Rotterdam and Dordrecht. The High Speed Line (HSL south) is separated from the main track, they are joining each other right before the Moerdijk Bridges. They could opt to extend the HSL to Schiphol Airport, but in my opinion this is not the most exiting route. However, it will give a good opportunity to include the new ICNG, so you can drive up to 200 km/h. The IC Direct (ICNG) is going directly to Belgium and do not stop at Breda, so I don't know how to implement this on the last part after Rotterdam.
Agree with this. I was a nice route but it got repetitive fast. I wanted to love it but can only profess to liking it. I hope they do another and I’m sure they will
