So i have TSW5 installed with tons of routes mods and all but want to try some of the recent released content which is only available in TSW6. I don't have the storage for both 5 & 6 on ny computer but the thought of having to reinstall everything and set up for TsW6 is very daunting. Does anyone have any tips or recommendations to make the process easier? Cia.
Switch to TSW6. You get a free TSW6 copy for each DLC you own. I think you do not need to have the old content installed, so you can uninstall TSW5, then install TSW6. YOu need to install all content again anyway, but you can switch off DLC you don't play before installing to save on installation time. You can import your TSW5 profile so you will not loose any progress. You mods will not work anymore. You need to get TSW6 compatible versions.
@Rudolf That’s not entirely true, though. In fact, some mods made for TSW 4 even work in TSW 6. And around 95% of mods made for TSW 5 will certainly work on TSW 6 as well.
Go into your dlc and content folder, copy all the .pak files and move them somewhere else, then uninstall TSW 5, then just download TSW 6 with all add ons disabled on the dlc tab, copy the .pak files back to their locations, then run a verify through steam on TSW6, you should be good to go then, I've done this myself and it worked out fine.
When you uninstall TSW, your mods remain in your DLC folder and aren’t removed. You can essentially uninstall TSW5 and install TSW6, then copy your mods over if you want (you don’t even need to verify files). I’m pretty sure all of my 200 mods from TSW5 work fine on TSW6, but you might want to check TS Community to see if there are updated versions.
That's good news. I do not use mods a lot, but you still need to check them one by one I think. In some cases crashes may happen due to mods. and players do not always realise that this the mode causes the crash.
