Hello fellow train lovers my question is when you a ctd does matter how many dlcs you download ie the fewer will cause no ctd or the more will cause more ctd. I read somewhere that it does a part in performance how true is that. Thanks
For me, DLC count doesn't seem to matter, it seems to depend more on TSW itself. Example: With TSW 3, 4, 5 I rarely had crashes. A frequency of about once per month, if even. With TSW 6 (upgraded via free starter pack, so no new route at the beginning), crashes became more frequent, about let's say one per week. Still not that much, but noticable more than before. I can look past that though. A game with such size, such complexity and modularity is bound to run into a stability problem now and then. I've had far worse in the past (any of the strategy buffs remember Company of Heroes?)
PC specs have a major role to play in how frequently you see TSW6 crash to desktop, and the more DLC you have, the more layers you'll get in a timetable and the more resources it will require to run. I upgraded to a proper gaming laptop in the middle of December and in the space of five months I've only had one CTD (just the other day, and it was due to a mod conflict). On my old PC it was indeed a monthly occurrence, at least. Mods also have a role to play, as sometimes two mods will conflict with eachother, or DTG will issue an update for something and suddenly your mods for it cause crashes. It's sometimes worth disabling all your mods to see if it improves things, and then going through them logically to see which one might be causing issues. JB
The only routes which regularly cause a CTD on my PC are GWE Remastered playing the new timetable if you save then load a run. And that hard locks the PC requiring a reboot. DTG know about it but don't appear to be working on a solution. The other is Frankfurt S-Bahn which again crashes loading a save, though without locking the PC. There have been occasions when TSW has failed to start and crashed with a UE rendering error message but that seems to be due to external pressure on system resources such as Windows Update running in the background - though no other game does that.
Also keep in mind if you are running 13th or 14th Gen Intel Core CPU's you might be affected by the degradation issue.
