    Mystery Stream next week!

You all remember the last time DTG made such a big secret of it, and in the end everyone was disappointed.

So it’s best not to get your hopes up, otherwise you’ll be disappointed again.
We all know how DTG can hype things up, and then they end up releasing some rubbish that nobody needs or wants.

I don't see how they have hyped anything.

    Just because they said mystery?

Boy if thats all it takes to hype people up life must be boring currently.

Tsk tsk you should know better...

    TVL = Tees Valley Line.

WCMLS = West Coast Main Line South
WCMLOS = West Coast Main Line Over Shap

So WCMLTV = West Coast Main Line Trent Valley?

    Just yanking your chain LOL

I also suspect it's going to be TSW7 rather than a route. The last week of March would only put the announcement five or six weeks ahead of the TSW6 announcement which happened in early July last year. Either that or they're announcing something unusual like a new feature or another series of remasters (which I would love!)

Hopefully. From a certain perspective we have waited for this route for about 2 years. Cant imagine the quality of the route looking at the state it was even back then. Probably a day one

It would be highly unlikely they would reveal TSW7 yet, it’s way too early. Looking back at their track record they’ve mostly announced their next titles in late summer. The only expectation was TSW6 back in July which you already mentioned.
The next sequel is pretty much premeditated and predictable at this point though. DTG might as well stick to the early July window, which increases hype for their next game.

I’m sticking to my guns and hoping for a TVL release date.

Why contradict someone without actually checking your claim? Of the six TSW sequels to TSW: Heavy Haul, only two were announced in late summer.

    TSW1 was announced in March
TSW2 was announced in early June
TSW3 and TSW6 were announced in early July.
Only 4 and 5 were announced in August.
A late March / early June announcement would absolutely not be unexpected, especially if they want to create some more positive news and boost the teams following the restructuring.

I'd be surprised, however, if this big "mystery announcement" was just... a release date for a DLC. I think they learnt the lesson about trying to over-hyping stuff back when they announced the Thomas DLC.

Oh ooh I know! They are revealing the new route hopping features ahead of Trent Valley and they will explain how you no longer need to leave the cab to route hop into the same service on a compatible timetable!

    Or it’ll be a GBR 387 idk

Matt is 100% sitting back eating popcorn reading this thread.

While I hope it is something exciting, it's also perfectly plausible that they haven't decided yet what to do and it'll just be a run on Rapid Transit or something :D

I did say “mostly” though :) 4 out of the 6 titles were July/August.
I know, Google can validate what you say most of time.
Been a long day, been awake since 7am. I can’t be asked browsing the internet for information.

Yes, that’s what I believe too.

    Maybe they resurrected Metro Rivals…

Only a week to the big mystery

Since we all know TSW7 is coming how would that count as a mystery?

I also like how people are exaggerating the point and hyping themselves up with wording like Big Mystery and Mystery announcement.

They only used mystery, not a word about Big or Announcement.

Perhaps the mystery is whether there will be staff available to stream on that date. Or that whatever route it is is even ready to be seen next week.

If their development schedule follows a pattern then I'm sure alot are taking some of their annual leave before they get in deep with TSW7.

No, you very clearly said "mostly late summer" :)
This is factually incorrect, there is no point continuing to insist on it. As I stated in my previous posts, which you have now contradicted twice with incorrect information that you can't be bothered to check, one title was announced in March, one in June and two in very early July. That leaves only 2 of the 6 titles announced in late summer, which is mathematically and semantically not "mostly"...

I think you'd have a hard time convincing anyone that July 5th and July 8th, which are 14 and 17 days into the summer and 11 weeks from autumn, are in "late summer".

I’ll laugh pretty hard if it was just Harry’s way of saying they haven’t decided what to stream yet, I mean it literally says TBC :D

Also those that know Harry from streams know she tends to be sarcastic.

So the word Mystery was in all caps perhaps being sarcastic because we all know that Trent Valley is coming since it was posted on Steam already.

Could very well be that the mystery is rather a joke, as in, it's so "obvious" it's Trent Valley's stream I don't need to say it

The previous couple of iterations of TSW have been announced in a DTG direct (possibly even 3). These have been a prerecorded slick marketing presentation rather than a live stream which have been talked about on socials running up to them to ensure a big a reach as possible. I’ve no doubt in my mind that a single RFTV update on the forums is not going to be how they announce the announcement of TSW7.

As it's a mystery then it could be a ghost train,or they have fixed all the bugs and it's a mystery who done it.

Yes on sober reflection (do I not have anything better to think of while falling asleep?!) it’s not going to be anything game changing which will be reserved for the Dovetail Direct to find out what the plans are later in the year.

I highly doubt it will be another all new IP - they have had too many failures now with FSW, Metro Rivals etc. to convince us anything outside their core train sim business could be a successful venture.

So despite the unusual hype, maybe it is just a content announcement. However if it is Trent Valley then maybe there’s are +++ factor in there, a full merge with WCMLS so we can drive from Euston to Crewe on one continuous route.

Or with the resources left over from Metro Rivals and MTA finally relenting, we are at long last getting the much requested proper New York Subway route(s).

But realistically likely to be more Thomas tat, perhaps to boost flagging sales of WOS they will be releasing a native TSW version slightly cheaper, so you don’t have to buy the standalone game.

Throwing my hat into the discussion ring, I too think it won't be anything huge. Definitely not TSW7 or any other new IP announcement. This would warrant a bit more fanfare.

From my point of view it's either going to be the promised Nürnberg-Ingolstadt stream as lexie already mentioned... but why the unusal secrecy then?
My money is more on it being an announcement that one of the longer running projects is finally going to be released soon, probably either the 420 or Tadami line. Either would be excellent to speed up my slowing enthusiasm for TSW lately :D

Well, from an "expect the unexpected" perspective, DTG (as demonstrated in recent years) could surprise people in every way, rational and non-rational.
It's either a lot or nothing at any given moment. Sooner or later, they'll have to start over.
It's inevitable; time (10 years) has passed quickly.
I'm done with the current TSW for now (and I've spent quite a bit of money on it), but I'll definitely support this franchise in the future if there's something truly new.
As I've always said, TSW isn't a bad show, but inevitably, time has passed quickly and brought with it too much confusion and a lack of coherence, not necessarily due to DTG, but rather due to the show's different interactions.
There's no point in mixing ten-year-old additions with more recent ones.
    The coherence is completely absent.

Sadly that's the fate of any long-running game, progress and a mix of different developer teams is good to get a wide variety of different content into the game, but also leading to this kind of lack of coherence.
Lord of the Rings Online for example started in 2007, and there are new official expansions and additions coming out regularly even now as it approaches its 20th anniversary. By now, the game has become absolutely bloated, cluttered and incomprehensive... newer content often breaking game mechanics for older stuff, and making it very very hard for any newcomer to get into it.

PS5 stream showing off the new DLC mounting system and tons of layers without blurring or stuttering.

    One can dream.

Or maybe "Thomas the Tank Engine visits Metro Rivals" for Nintendo Game Boy.

    Along with Ludmilla…

Though here’s a thought. Maybe the Class 104 project has come good out of the blue and we are getting that plus a new timetable for Peak Forest. Oh and an updated blue version to layer out the MetCams on BPO.

    That's exactly right.
But the foundation is there now, compared to when it all started in 2017:
train physics, announcements on trains and in stations, functioning timetables, road traffic, Free Roam, dynamic weather, and in general all the improvements TSW has achieved over the years.
We need to start with these features as standard.
They are undoubtedly the fundamental ones.
Then (in my opinion) trains should be less constrained by routes, and then...the more the merrier!

It’ll be Trent Valley stream, which is good (unless we still have the blurry textures of B2C on PS5 which renders it unplayable), but is no real surprise.

Going to go outside now and talk to people and touch some grass, do the same if you can!

Or it's an actual mystery episode. You start your nightshift and heading to the depot to get your train out for the first service. You enter your parked train and find this:
    20260421235910_1.jpg

Happens all the time in TSW XD

What is that? It looks like an abandoned cinema with creepy stuffed animals occupying the seats. I love anything horror themed, so my spider sense is tingling here ;)

Edit: Turns brightness up on their phone. Oh it’s a train carriage. Whoops!

:D Is just a parked BR 628 in TSW - every train in the depot was dark and cold, but filled like this when I made the screenshot.

Based on the Season of Reveals / Thomas debacle I'm avoiding all speculation and just chomping through the popcorn while repeating a "don't even think about it" mantra until I achieve a zenlike state of indifference. It's the only way to stay sane :D:D:D

Yeah, sorry I honestly couldn’t tell :) I adjusted the brightness on my phone and the picture became more clearer then.

Referencing the joke, I have to say this happens far too often. Leaving a depot with a bunch of sleeping c̶r̶a̶c̶k̶h̶e̶a̶d̶s̶ passengers ;)

I second this idea. TVL is such an awesome route, and has so many DLC addons as well in terms of loco DLC. Those locos would work much nicer on the new routes if they got a lighting overhaul. Just had a run in a 20 on Goblin, well I couldnt see the track in front of me during the nighttime, I know old headlights are like candles, but there is no enjoyment in looking at a dark screen

    I have three ideas:
    - TSW7, we can see that we're at the end of TSW6 and the routes marked as TBC on the roadmap will surely be in TSW7, but I think the announcement is way too early compared to other TSWX announcements

    - Trent Valley is announced as coming soon, but we have no information except for the Steam page, so a live stream wouldn't be not unreasonable .

    - A new partnership, like the one with Thomas
