Hello, I'm planning to buy the Metropolitan Line: Aldgate - Uxbridge & Amersham route from Steam, as it's not available on Just Trains. My question is, is it safe to buy, or are there any concerns? On the one hand, comments mention that the ECML North: Newcastle – Edinburgh service is being interrupted. On the other hand, the route has been updated since that comment. I would appreciate any information. Regards, Mario
There is no problem buying any DLC on Steam as it is installed Automatically and you can remove or reinstall it at any time It might be because of the problems it caused to Newcastle – Edinburgh that the Aldgate route was withdrawn from sale I notice that the S7+1 and S8 trains have also been removed from sale on JT
Hi, thanks for your reply, but I wasn't asking if buying on Steam is safe, but rather if buying the route is secure enough that it won't affect other routes. Regards, Mario
The second line in you first post was "My question is, is it safe to buy, or are there any concerns?" Hence my reply stating it is safe to buy Maybe ask JT Support as both routes are made by them.
Hi Peter, since my English isn't very good, I'm using Google Translate. It might be that we're misunderstanding each other. To reiterate my question: I'm specifically asking if anyone has purchased the route on Steam and knows whether the Steam version causes any problems or runs smoothly. It's also important for me to know if this route negatively affects other routes. JT Support won't be able to help me with this.
I would go for the version from JT themselves as they get all of the proceeds without Steam's cut. Also, there can occasionally be subtle (or not-so-subtle) differences, although my recollection is that the two versions of the Met were identical. One other advantage of buying direct is that you get any updates or patches much more quickly as anything that goes through Steam has to be QAed by DTG first, and that can take some months. It does look as if you can buy the main pack but not the Pluspak still from ATS. Having had the original version and then the Pluspak, having the Pluspak is worth it. They learnt a lot between the two releases. I thought I had seen an announcement somewhere that it would be back in due course but I can't find that now. They were also showing it off on their channel in October, so it was possibly not their choice to take it off sale. It's worth reaching out to them. They're a good bunch and I've always had a prompt reply from them.
l bought the Just Trains version. Although not currently available online you should be able to purchase it from JTs, if you contact their excellent support team, or make a comment to Tom when he is doing a live video on Train Sim TV. It could have been taken down temporarily as their maybe a new package or an update being issued shortly. lf they every extend it, a Steam version will not get it, that’s why it is always better buying from the maker. I always buy a Just Trains and RSSLO route to get the expanded and updated versions. Especially as some routes are combined together later.
If you buy from Steam you have the benefit of their refund system and that you won't have to locally back up your purchases. And the Steam sale discounts are often bigger than JT's. linie 51 I don't know if the fault you mention still exists, but if it does you can use the Steam refund facility.
Just trains seems to have removed the Met line as well as the S8 and S7 from their online store. Not sure why. Perhaps licensing issues? You can only buy them on Steam for now. Typically though it is better to buy the routes directly from JT because the versions on Steam only include scenarios for default trains. This doesn’t really impact the met line, but other JT routes like the western mainlines, Wessex line, midland mainlines include scenarios for Armstrong powerhouse trains only if you buy directly from the JT site.
Mario, there is a live Train Sim TV streaming on You Tube at present possibly on Twitch as well, so you will be able to chat to Tom about your issues.
The one from ATS doesn't include any standard scenarios. SCENARIOS No Standard scenarios are included with this Metropolitan Line route. As there is currently no suitable default Train Simulator stock to drive on the route, we have ensured that it is Quick Drive enabled to allow you to drive any stock that you have as you wish. We have, however, included a special Quick Drive enabled version of the Just Trains S8 Advanced which can be driven via the F4 HUD controls. This special version of the S8 does not feature a cab or passenger view.
