It's not, someone who's not employed by or paid by DTG was perfectly capable of producing a patch to correct it on the 805

imo, it doesn't make sense for the license to require a painting color scheme that doesn't exactly match what is seen irl

This could be due to scale colour perception. Scale modellers discuss this all the time, if you paint a model (such as a 1:72 spitfire) in colours matched to the real shades it looks far too bright. To get an effect closer to what your eye perceives as correct (as if you were looking at the model from 72 times further away than you are) requires a darkening of the hue (it’s more complicated than this but you get the idea).

So whilst the colour is the exact shade used on the real trains, our eyes perceive this differently at the scales we are looking at.

I could be completely wrong, just a theory!

Picture #4 looks pretty spot on to the games colour imo - so it could be just some weird lighting shenanigans that give it that (outstandingly beautifull) blue?

i agree with you, but licensors all have their own demands and expectations so devs have to work within those constraints

I mean it is only 2026, technology like this is still relatively young so it will be decades before this looks basically like real life, but I notice the shade looks most realistic on overcast weather settings, and its during overcast or night-time that the teal appears the most blue in real life as well. Mind you, I think I`ve noticed the real-life Pendolino`s have a different shade of teal, closer to green, than the Evero`s. The sunlight defo changes the appearance, that`s why I included irl picture #4.
Notice the Pendolino seems a crappier colour, them Evero`s got the better shade of teal, more radiant.

As we can see, irl, the angle, the time of day, the weather, all have their effects on the shade of teal on the 390s as well.

I know it’s probably already been mentioned somewhere but the lack of the Stoke branch is pretty disappointing considering the section from Stafford to Crewe is reused.

we’re already getting a 90 odd mile section of new railway plus the 350/4 and 807. i don’t see how much more they could add without even higher risk of blurring plus a massive download size

I’d have been happy if they’d run it to Stoke instead of Crewe. But I’ll just be relieved if it works at all.

I agree. They could've added the section up to Manchester as well and the North Wales Coast. What were they thinking.

I'm absolutely fuming, they should've gone all the way up to Glasgow and down to Euston to make it one huge route.

Me too, so annoyed I’m shaking right now. Why not include the whole WCML as one network, let us drive where we want, how we want.
I can survive with 5fps and a bundle of blurry textures.

I must say it has definitely raised my attention that Microsoft Flight Simulator has the entire globe, and every airport available to fly to. As well as an extensive and growing list of airliners, fighter jets, corporate jets, general aviation aircraft and whatnot. And yet on TSW6 now, the 8th year of the game, we have yet to realise full routes on long-distance main lines, such as the GWML, ECML, WCML, etc. Instead we have sometimes VERY SMALL portions, which just don`t cut it. Imagine having a Boeing 777-300ER in FS2024, and only being able to fly from London to Paris. That would not satisfy anyone. I know MSFS is an older and MUCH larger simulator, with countless 3rd party developers and a larger market, and is a different story in terms of modelling the whole globe but in less finite detail due to most of the globe being seen from high altitudes. MSFS has its own shortcomings, but I can fly my aircraft wherever I want, for as long as the aircraft`s range can take it. This is not the case in train simulation. The one thing I`m holding out for is the Trent Valley Line, and the stroke of luck I have here in that the number one route I personally want is the Liverpool to London route, which I will be able to do in full with the Class 390 up to Crewe, then use the Class 805 to Liverpool on the Spirit of Steam DLC. Bit bouncy on the 1958 tracks, but I`ll pretend that`s not happening (if anyone knows how to stop the train from bouncing like a space hopper on these routes set in the 20th Century, pls tell me). Still waiting for that route...

Well MS take on what was to be their second attempt at what was to be MSTS2, was based on a “World Of Rails” concept. Sadly little was revealed about how it would work before the project was shelved by MS in a round of financial cutbacks. However it seems likely most of the railway lines would have been little more than simple single track vector splines laid across the terrain. Detailed routes and areas would still have needed to be built in the traditional way. Unlike the scenery we see in MSFS 2020 etc., you can’t really generate a railway system procedurally when there is a complex fixed infrastructure with varying speed limits and signalling which is specific to a particular location or circumstances.

Even now, enjoying a bit of a reunion with MSFS, while the scenery even out the box is gorgeous compared to FSX or FS9, it is exactly that - a background picture accompanying your flight.

Unfortunately we cant compare between the two as they are completely different (even though I have in the past myself) but get the point and frustration as I do feel the same sometimes especially when you see the vast array of Scenery and Rolling stock in its predecessor that we don't have to that same level in TSW, I mean majority where built by DTG so they would have the "blueprint" so to speak to recreate it without the need to go onboard...

The scenery between the two is completely different as well, TSW hand places assets along a route where MSFS uses satellite imagery which is removed once you have flown far enough and hit a certain limit.. Im sure TSW has an LOD slider to reduce certain objects once you have moved away to aid in ram and fps but the scenery is like using Inbuilds Heathrow as an example for your entire trip loaded with a full timetable.. I was interested to see how Metro rivals was going to go performance wise as they talked about new techniques and programs for object placing to add realistic buildings and variety then some of the terrible ones we have/see today in TSW!

Trent valley and Preston to Carlisle does show you can have longer routes but the core issues that plague this game in the way they affect Consoles probably stalls this, along with the design time to for the build..

It was interesting seeing running train and how well designed that was so we know it can be done, but the game is only as good as their designers and the tools available, like flightsim something from Flytampa is going to be a straight yes for me but then you have others who are just not up to standard and their airports are just plagued with issues!

I suspect the delay in release of Crewe Preston and Trent Valley is that consoles just can’t cope with the length of the routes.

The length isn't the issue. Ps5 and series x handle routes like Kassel - Wurzburg and WCML Carlisle to Preston just fine.

there are likely subtle differences in seating or lighting clusters. just like the 801 is different from the 802 is different from the 800 etc etc but i kinda think its not much more than minor subclass differences. the drive will be identical afaik

I sincerely hope that the product will be free of other defects upon release.

    - Floating tree-like objects in the sky
    - Traffic lights are embedded in buildings and invisible
    - Blurry images and overly unstable weather
    - Euston still has no passengers
It's disappointing that there are so many defects on every line. I hope they will finish and perfect it before releasing it.

What I really don’t understand, and as I’ve mentioned before, is that how do you expect 13 807’s and 10 350/4 to make up the WHOLE timetable, assuming you do not own WCMLS or B2C (Because yes majority will but there will likely be a handful of people who haven’t purchased either), otherwise (again on this assumption) the TT will be pretty lifeless. I really think they should have included either the 350/1 or /2 (10 /3’s won’t be making much difference).

Most likely the 350/4 will just end up reusing numbers or using incorrect numbering. they have 350400 all the way to 350499 to use i guess.

We’ll see how they handle it, maybe they have a fictional rolling stock diagram for the whole TT, but realistically if you don’t own the 390 & presumably their 350’s from B2C, you’re going to have a very quiet route.

I'm surprised people are surprised about the cross-selling aspect where the more DLC you own the more realistic your experience will be.
I'd love routes to come with all the rolling stock needed like it was back in MS Train Simulator days but we're merely cogs in the machine and the UK economy's future depends on you all spending money you can't spare on consumer products. So pipe down, pay up and feel grateful that you live in a capitalist world that's skewed in favour of the super rich.

That would be nice. That certainly wasn't my experience purchasing the class 90 and class 805 add-ons, both of which have independent timetables and can never be seen together unless manually spawned.

Sadly the Cargo Line series from Skyhook also suffers from this, and is a personal hate of mine.
We have layers, for god sake give me a timetable that's stuffed full and If my hardware struggles I will take a layer or two out!

Subtle nuance is dead. One hand-picked example doesn't change the overall situation.
