Playing around with various flight sims, found my way back into FSX SE, as it may be old but still has the best selection of aircraft and doesn’t take 15 minutes to load a flight. However one minor irritation is that every aircraft loads with the default view angled down so you can’t see more than about 20 feet along the runway. I’m sure there was a way to fix this in the FSX-se.cfg file, but blundering around on Google I can’t find anything. Found one guide to improving the FOV which will help in other ways but the main issue is getting the view looking straight ahead.

Replying to my own post, but adding for reference in case anyone needs it. The issue is caused by the default flight loading wrong. Solution… Start a new flight with a simple aircraft on the runway at any airport. Adjust the height and angle of the view over the dash to personal preference. Save the flight and in addition tick the box which states “Make this the default flight”. All other aircraft should now load without you looking down at your feet!
