Yeah we don’t have air con in homes in the UK. Until recently it hasn’t been considered necessary for the one week of warm weather a year

And what do you do in the UK when it's hot?
    Do you cease to exist?

Pretty much. See also snow, drought, wind. The only thing we are well set up for is rain.

Your kidding its only 30°C or 86°F.

We've been at 30° for weeks here and usually are around 35° for the summer.

How cold do you get in the winter? We average aroun -20° with the occasional -40°.

Man you guys would die out here.

One does take a train to the beach. And probably get one's feet cut or broken on all those pebbles.
Does happen in Germany too, but with lakes that were formerly quarries, unless one lives close to our coasts in the north.
Or take an overcrowded train with a broken or overwhelmed AC to the coasts and then walk on sandy beaches. And probably cut, but not break, one's feet on sea shells or get stung by jellyfish.

All jokes and jabs aside, just air the office out, live streams start in the evening and sometimes last until late at night. Can't be that hot by then in the office or flat or house anymore. I have to do video calls at the office or from home office too in any weather and temperatures.

But, as I said on the previous page, I don't care much for those at the moment. I'll chime in on my two followed German TSW streamers when they're in the mood for a stream.

While I don't care about that stream, I'm still in a talkative mood, so I'll contribute to this discussion anyway ;)

I'll second that, we've only hit 32oC so far here on the Essex coast so far. I don't care if we've broken the local record temperature for May, it's simply not hot enough for my liking.

I should reiterate, if any TSW developers need someone to travel to a tropical country to do some research, I'm your man.

    Come to think of it...
Today I worked with a colleague of mine, Matthew, a Cornish native and Tottenham supporter, who was rather listless because of the heat.:)

The clue in that bit was "Tottenham supporter", I expect they're all exhausted after a season like that.

Yes, they are but only the full accounts to March 2025. The full year accounts to March 2026 are due to be filed by 31 December 2026.

Don’t forget though DTG is part of Pullup Entetainment (formerly Focus) which has a three part corporate structure of which DTG is part of their “Studios Division”.

Harry stated it was hot in the office. At no point did she say that was the reason for the cancellation. In fact on the DTG website there are photos of their Chatham offices showing.... ceiling-mounted A/C units all over the place. Unless their A/C is broken, I think we can confidently assume office temperature is not the reason for the cancellation.

This is what Harry said on discord
" We just had to change plans unfortunately - that's the nature of game development. But we'll try and get something locked down soon, sorry to have disappointed folks! "

Dont think she works at the office in Chatham. Based at home like most of staff their nowadays. In fact, a quick look at the careers page and their HR dept. actively promote & encourage working from home.

Wasn't necessarily talking about pulling the stream, but the silence in general. Just trying to keep up hope :)

I understand that it's disappointing that the stream is cancelled, but when you look at some of the comments, it's like it's the end of the world... :|
Between those who make comparisons which make no sense and those who think it's due to the heat when we have no proof (just speculation) and they say strange things...

I think some people really need to find a hobby!

This was completely predictable as was the reaction to it. As usual people get worked up.

Maybe whatever they were streaming was found to have issues, and was cancelled. Something the community in another life would applaud, however when they do, do it, there is uproar, from the usual suspects.

There seem to be many professionally offended on here making up scenarios in their head.

Get a grip for goodness sake.

It seems a very weak excuse. And if that's really the issue, then they could have just put up a written press release to reveal the purpose instead.

May not be due to the effect of the heat on the people so much as the computers and streaming equipment. I've seen a few Twitch streams get wonky and have to end (or get involuntarily ended) due to the electronics overheating on hot days.

You’re being ridiculous. Just because some jobs have tough working conditions doesn’t mean all jobs have to. If DTG have rescheduled due to the heat then that’s perfectly reasonable because it isn’t essential work.

Valid reason imo. Not everyone is in the same "office" (home). UK homes don't have AC. Fans blow hot air around. I also don't fancy watching a livestream in sweltering heat or have an ice pack to my face waving a fan around. If CMs/devs are feeling too hot and exhausted to livestream then they shouldn't. They're human beings too working away behind the scenes. Their welfare should come first.

Respectfully the heatwave we just had is unprecedented and not normal, especially in May as demonstrated by the records broken.

Those of you who use the slightest thing and turn it into an opportunity to have a dig at DTG.

I just want you to know that your forced, entitled rages are hilarious. I'd hate to make anyone paranoid but when we used to get funny complaints in my office they would get posted on the team message board so that everyone could have a chuckle.

I'm not laughing at you. I'm laughing towards you.

Yes, the UK economy is a mess because people are workshy. Can't possibly blame it on politicians, the wealth gap, inflation, house prices, a collapse in manufacturing, Brexit or any international geo-political issues.

It's all the fault of people who are struggling to work on the hottest May day ever recorded in the UK.

This is it. The slightest thing and it's let's bash DTG. These people can't see it though, I doubt they realise they are doing it.

They are about to abandon TSW with it's myriad countries and routes spanning the last 40 years for a (excellent looking) 40km fictional Japanese route, of course, so they won't be on the forums for much Ionger presumably.

I mean I'm not buying it as a valid excuse, get AC or something.

That said - it's currently that hot in my man cave that I'm sat in just my kecks, with the fans on full blast and the rig isn't even doing anything strenuous yet so it's actually putting out cooler air than what's going in. I don't think the DTG guys and gals are up for doing a livestream in their underwear and that is understandable. But yeah, get some AC (my excuse is that I've not finished building my room up yet).

Ah well, it was going to be a crock anyway whatever it was, probably more Thomas rubbish.

How can you possibly know what it would have been?

I haven't even turned my computer on to do any gaming as it's been that hot. Not everyone has the space for an air conditioning unit.

I love how people are continuing to complain about DTG "cancelling due to the heat", despite absolutely zero evidence of that being the case and my post further up pointing out that DTG has A/C and a large office space people can work in. If anything, they may have taken the decision to push it back based on the assumption that not many people would be watching because they'd be outside in the cooler evening air / shopping for ice cream / chilling at the pub (delete according to preference)

It was just over 35° today where I am (France) and I was in meetings and video calls all day in the office. The only heat-related discomfort I encountered was going out to get lunch. Businesses with A/C don't shut down when the outside temperature hits 29°.

At this point I would appreciate some honest and open communication, but I don't expect it. It is a computer game, not an essential service that they provide after all. It just seems the confidence levels are low with what they are planning to put out across the board whether it is an announced DLC, an update or huge fix or something new and radical.

Why mystery and then cancel? They could've done anything and we'd be none the wiser.

I think the announcement could've been along the lines of

'We've got something we're hoping is going to be ready, but it's a bank holiday just in the UK so it's a bit trickier to schedule a livestream. We know we said we'd have something by now and we haven't shared any news for a while and it is fairly close, but it might not be ready. We'll try for a livestream Thursday next week, but we'll cancel 24 hours out if we're not ready'.

Take most of the mystery out of it. It isn't the time to be building hype.

as I said before, the "mystery" was clearly the trent valley preview livestream which they planned to release probably the week of the 18th or maybe even the week of the 11th (the date that was published the steam page for trent valley)
but apparently, something is going very wrong with this DLC

Arguing whether the heat has anything to do with it is scraping the barrel...

It's as simple as this for me... It been cancelled. It is a bit of a frustration, but it is not the end of the world. Whether it is due to heat, unforseen circumstances, or any other reason I just accept it and move on now. DTG are human as are the Devs and things happen. You can't base your entire life around these things. I love the streams and previews, but they are not the centre of my world so when these things happen I just think, "a bit frustrating but I'll watch it another time".

Was I looking forward to it? Yes. Was I curious what it was? Also yes. But am I going to get annoyed with DTG or any type of Devs about it? Definitely not. No promises were made, and I'm still none the wiser what was going to be streamed. Add to that as I've already mentioned, they are all human and these things happen.

As others have said, in this heat I'm not particularly one for playing games as my Scottish genetics don't agree with the 35° weather that we had in London and I've been sweating like a glass blowers axxx so gaming is the least of my worries at the moment.

I have half a dozen Guinea Pigs and a lovely old hen called Hilda to look after and keep me focused and they are my priorities at the moment and to get them through the heatwave as it effects them.

None the less, hopefully the stream will be given a new date within the next 7 days. And on the subject of that, it could well be the North London Line extension!

When was the last time you ever saw a stream take place from that cavernous office space?

They have always been from home.

Agree with the sentiments that it was most likely Trent Valley and it's not worth getting hot under the collar for (pun intended).

I am looking forward to announcements of fixes and the release of DLC, but I have adopted a wait and see approach. Wait and see if it works and is my cup of tea. Wait and see what others reckon. And, most importantly, wait and see if it actually happens.

Hype built up, again, by this community, no one else.

With the same people waiting to jump in with their conspiracy theories when something "goes wrong".

I wouldn't be surprised if DTG aren't laughing at all this, as it was entirely predictable.

I agree entirely. If DTG didn't realise the potential effect on this community of the use of the word 'mystery' with this announcement then that would really be cause for concern. I reckon it was deliberate, but also tongue in cheek and they have probably enjoyed this thread if they are reading it.

Yeah, there are so many whiners that the broadcast was cancelled. It was as if a universal tragedy had occurred and future life was in question.
I would probably laugh at the heat as the reason, but yesterday there was a power outage in my area and I was without electricity or internet for 8 hours. And this showed me that the heat of +32°C without air conditioning, with the whirring of a gasoline generator in the yard, is a real test. I'm used to +21°C at home, but without air conditioning it was +27°C. It's a good thing there was a supply of soft drinks in the refrigerator.

Embarrassingly, they've cancelled the stream. Yeah again. They're about as consistent as (insert TOC here) for last min cancellations
