in my opinion this has been completely exaggerated to make it seem like aabs are intentionally lying to us. it was likely an accident and lessons will be learned

Hence why I said the conversation, which can still be ongoing regardless of which posts have been deleted or not.

Great question. Guessing again, simple oversight? I can certainly see myself doing that. Or, since all this is by the studio's request, maybe the studio said to just leave the notes up for the good info while they rewrite and resubmit?

They said that about the feedback thread for the class 90 on discord and it ended up taking multiple weeks to reopen and even then most of the criticism was deleted

Imagine if it turned out that unbeknownst to us all, they accidentally leaked an upcoming attempt by MS to deal with the RAM shortages by releasing a new Series X SKU that somehow nobody else with devkits had leaked word of all this time :P

    Hi!
Y’all, if you ever have a question about something I do, tag me or send me a DM. I promise I’ll answer to the best of my ability, and as soon as I can.

For this most recent thread: basically I locked it at the request of AABS and until they can send information our way on Monday. To clarify: Kezz deleted his comments as it had a couple of incorrect facts, and since the quotes kept those visible, AABS reached out to me and asked me to delete the quoted comments.

I’m probably reopening it on Monday, but I had to lock it so I would stop myself from commenting and replying during my off time and until I had all the facts to give you. I will post this same note later.

    To answer other points:
Censorship: So, I will be fully honest here, you’re interacting on a company-controlled space. We control posts etc., as needed. There are over 80,000 posts, we don’t lock more than 3%, and I rarely lock them unless it gets to the point people are attacking each other or things need to be cleaned up. You also don’t see the spam posts most times.

Why you have seen me doing it: I happen to have ever slightly more time to interact 1:1 with the community and we are also pulling double duty with handling all social media. My focuses are Discord, Reddit, Facebook and the Forums. Which means I do daily checks, and yeah, I miss a lot here, but I am pretty much working in tandem with Jan and Alex so I usually catch the mid-afternoon to late night (uk time) threads and clean those up. That I have noticed is when the threads are most active. I have posted for clarification that threads are locked and usually why. Not everyone does that.

Hope that helps, keep in mind it’s my off day so I’m typing this really quick, then running back to do other stuff with my family.

Third parties shouldn’t be able to make these requests to lock threads, it just looks like they can’t take criticism and looks bad on them

it’s also pretty weird how it’s every time we criticise stuff about this game the thread ends up getting locked

why couldn’t AABS have just put the same statement on the thread that they had put out on Facebook, and edited any inaccurate posts. No need to lock threads for that and has been done many times.

I really hope Kezz doesn’t get into any trouble for this error or put off from communicating with the community.

Probably because TSW "IS" in the hands of third parties.
They're practically the only ones who contribute to this forum anymore.
It ended up being like TSC, but in a more twisted way.

Unless it was in a different thread it looks like the OG link to the YT clip has been removed, which means by clicking on the residual link in the quote you can’t open in a full window! Off to hunt YT directly for it, then. The management of this place seems to have gone a bit doolally!

Another moral of the story, if you’re going to release a patch, 1. Make sure everyone is in full agreement over the content and descriptions. Check, double check and peer review. 2. If it’s something major or potentially controversial then release on a Monday or Tuesday so there’s plenty of time left in the working week to sort out the fallout.

And, finally, maybe get it right in the first place rather than rushing content out for £££ then spending the next six months firefighting it…

It was a link to train sim society's video from a few days ago.

Am I allowed to say that? Who knows!

Maybe they're trying to figure out how much of the problem is them, and how much is All Aboard studios? Or whether it's the right time to announce TSW7 in order to distract everybody from it?

I can see why some game devs are choosing to wind down forums in favor of discord. Forums give people a platform to criticize the company, and possibly spread misinformation, on the company's dime.

It shouldn't always be crisis mode for players. If DTG needs to control misinformation (or criticism) on their own company forums, that's completely their prerogative.

It's good to hold DTG "accountable" but anyone with a bit of coding and development experience, particularly in sims or sim-like games, knows that it's very tough to manage every system configuration. In order to deliver the full experience to mid and high spec systems, the low end systems are going to get a cut down experience in some way or another - period.

Now, of course "selfishly" I don't want this to affect me on a mid-high or basically "unlimited" spec PC, either way. The offering of alternate timetables for lower spec systems is a very good solution I think. Hopefully we'll here today that that's how things have been addressed. Give DTG a chance to clarify what the situation is.

    Chill.

    1) You see it more because someone is able to handle it and field requests more often (me), and I seem to pop in during more active hours. Basically it’s accidental confirmation bias.
    2) Third parties don’t have moderator controls, and consistently ask us to review posts. Seeing as in this case, it’s their product, unless there isn’t a need I will grant their request and review it. It’s a lot easier to review when I don’t need to go through 40 new posts, that’s usually why I lock it and it makes it easier to review the core complaints and respond to those.
    3) I know there are a few people who openly critique my actions, so I tend to come up and be posted about a lot (and that’s okay! I welcome criticism). Yes, I tend to shut down critique posts, AFTER people start attacking each other, spam bots get ahold of it, or false information is posted and I need to wait on corrected information. The spam bots thing is rare, but, whew, I certain words can send them to a post, and that was one I had to delete.

Also, I cannot speak for Kezz, he’s personally one of my more favorite people to work with, but he has been on vacation, so may just not have had the most updated information at the time he posted is all. Trust me, I’m guilty of that too, and it can be an issue.

It’s fine, but he posted an updated video saying these were removed. Read them if you like, but do understand those screenshots aren’t the most current information, and contain inaccurate information.

This is a good question: quite simply they didn’t have a note for me to post when I closed the thread and were working on it is all. They posted it after I left to do some other stuff, and I’m just making sure there isn’t new information before I post any notes or updates. Plus it’s our space and they are respecting that.

You're right, the video was posted on page 1 of this thread.

Then redrev1917's post on page 1 was apparently deleted, but you can still find the video in lexie's post.

And you can find the video here:

Thanks Candace for the explanation. Whilst I can understand deleting the posts that contain inaccurate information of course, I still don't fully agree that the thread needs to be locked since the inaccurate info has been removed.

I do however acknowledge that I may have somewhat overreacted, of which I offer my apologies for. Also I should point out I have nothing against anyone on a personal level.

No, no, you’re fine, none of your posts went off the rails. I mostly deleted the Kezz quotes, I’m just waiting on information from All Aboard is all.

I wonder if a moderators favourite quote is damned if you do, damned if you don't :)
