The one thing you never hear on these forums is why people keep asking make it with UE5, what are your reasons? is it just shinier graphics? Because after reading a metric ton on both UE5 and UE4 the main differences i can see are basically lighting, sound and the way it handles open worlds (imo relevant points), so knowing this and also knowing the main bottleneck in TSW is simugraph, what do you think the outcome of TSW moving to UE5 would be? because i can make a pretty educated guess on the outcome.

If there's an alternative to UE5, that's fine.
But the most likely scenario is that DTG will stick with Epic's engine, for a "possible" new simulator.
This has practically been stated by DTG itself (remember MR? ).
But we're in the realm of unofficiality, not official.

Honest opinion based on research says that's a (my opinion before certain folks have there tantrum) massive mistake, even unigine 2 or if there willing asobos flight engine would be a technical better fit, but at the end of the day it'll be more likely epics deep pockets that dictate that not what's best.

wonder which DLC is more then 10 years old if the game was released in march 2017 ? :D

TSC got own engine but DTG dont made it, simugraph is just for simulation and its not well optimized too... you can see if you build really long formation then your computer will struggle.

They dont made that engine, its work of Kuju (they made Rail Simulator) published by EA, then DTG got it and keep releasing first RailWorks and then Train Simulator XXXX. So i dont think they are capable to make their own engine. They are not even capable fixing their bugs for many years.

Like i wrote before, DTG used UE5 for Metro Rivals, they cancell that project, based on videos, they are probably using the same classes like TSW, even they port simugraph there too. As its hard to port routes (maps from UE4 to UE5 made with world compositionú i can imagine that they will use that Metro Rivals core to introduce new train game made on UE5, and that route from Metro Rivals can be one of the core route for new sim (it will need probably some rework).

10 years, meaning there was also development time before release.
Does everything always have to be explained?

Sure because almost all of old DLCs are already remastered, so there is really no 10 year old DLC.

Rapid Transit has never been touched to my knowledge and that’s one of the OG routes. They can’t even retrofit the 1442 with a better sound set!

He may mean the TOD4 system mate, that didn't come in till TSW 3, and is the current standard for all updated routes atm.

RT got a new timetable, one that was broken on release I might add, but I don't think they did much work on the route itself. Definitely got less work than what GWE got around the same time, which mind you aged poorly enough it needed to be remastered again anyways.

    See below…

What I thought and the 1442 remains one of the worst trains for audio in game(at least the UK Hitachi IET’s in game are prototypically quiet in the cab).
