With the release of other games on the horizon , I’ve been here with TSW since the very 1st game but seeing where the focus has gone and shift in direction and energy if the next iteration of TSW isn’t at the level it should be I can say i’m done I gave it the old college try but its a no for me .For other players sticking around and continuing playing TSW ,Honest question Why & What is different that your experience that I may not be experiencing with this game?
I'm the same, I've a feeling that TSW6 will be my last purchase. I've been with TSW since the first release on Playstation, I've kept up with every iteration, but over time it's becoming clear that the management consider console a hindrance, Console users constantly get short changed with updates either removing services or static stock, or updates that break the game causing crashes. The frequent excuse of "We can't test on console" is a load of nonsense considering other games companies can do it with no issues. The PC master race seem to think the game would improve without us, fine. Go ahead.
Agree I’ve not played as much as I used to. Various issues on Xbox Series X all mentioned elsewhere. I haven’t bought anything since ECML and upgraded on free downloads just in case. Forza Horizon is my go to now, with preorders for GTA 6 now, TSW will be in the vault for a while. I will however, be happy to be proved wrong.
Last weekend I bought the TSW6 special edion in the sale. Until now I only played Semmeringbahn and Ludwigsbahn, both are a dissapointment. Semmeringbahn has the worst performance of every route I've played and the OBB 1116 has brake issues. Ludwigsbahn has a reduced timetable on Series S, but this can't be found in any Dovetail Live article or in the store. I still have to play the TSW6 core routes, I will not be surprised when I found more issues. So yeah, I'm kind of done with DTG and this game.
I had about 700hrs in TSW4, 800hrs in TSW5 and so far only 300hrs in TSW6... Bugs aside I still think the game is moving too slowly and with far too much recycling of old content (for me). DTG seem to have given up producing content in-house and are relying on cash cow publishing. We have a billion instances of the Class 66, Class 350 and every IET known to man but still no Class 56, 156, 50, 60 and numerous other trains that feel like they should be in the game by now. I've stopped buying stuff on day 1 now, pretty much everything is released unfinished or poorly tested with DTG seemingly happy to ship any old carp (Athena) and stuff that should have been held to get it right (Class 90, Fife Circle etc etc) but nah DTG slap it out anyways. So If it gets fixed 3 months, 6months later I buy it, if DTG wash their hands of it (surely not!) I don't but it anymore. Running Train was a wake up call and I wonder if DTG CEO's decided to can everything else to make sure their top title remains that way (metro rivals cancelled, internal teams culled, vacancies not filled [Harry picked up the social media role alongside her CM role] and other internal realignments). Recently I've played the new 007 game, played tons of Sniper Elite, and enjoyed the simply stunning visuals of Running Train. DTG have slowly killed their own game, I'll probably get the free core TSW7 update but not much else. I do have a massive issue with the state of consoles & agree completely with what Marc said, but then I also think ToffeeKat has highlighted the other huge part of the reason I spend less time with TSW & basically haven’t bought anything this year. The variety is gone, German content is now all basically copy & paste AC section with red loco & that same awful dosto we’ve had since 2015. The UK stuff has become nothing but an IET simulator & you’re lucky to see a route that isn’t the WCML. Even JT’s stuff is getting bland because the rolling stock is just the same thing we’ve had before. There have been highlights such as MVL & Rivets 171 pack, so I do look forward to things like the 70, but I seem to have lost any real enthusiasm for the bigger DLC’s, they’re not any less buggy then they were years ago, they’ve stopped coming with new trains, they usually are all but unplayable on consoles & they’re only getting more expensive. I’m also really starting to become of the opinion that the ‘marketing’ is one more shade of dishonesty away from being manipulative. Rivet have now sold us 2 additional 170 DLC’s & on both occasions built up hype with the promise to push updates for the older versions, but nothing has come of it. The packs come along & then Rivet does what killed them in the first place, go silent & don’t deliver. The console big hitter issues were hot on the agenda a couple of months ago when all that content was being released basically on top of each other, solutions were close & in testing, but now that the content surge is over, DTG has decided that they won’t actively discuss the problem anymore.
Great stuff from them, but one of the main issues for me is the foliage, all routes are looking v similar using the same 3 trees and grass. Surely someone could knock up some new and better looking foliage , it's been the same for years. The Czech guys did a great thing with their route, felt v different using different foliage assets. Sometimes I even think TSC looks more realistic with those 2D trees!
I’m on PC and actually felt things were improving , actually played tsw more recently. More patches and some good routes released lately . Having said that I’ve got a pretty high spec PC so am not experiencing blurry textures etc. it seems clear that TSW is pushing the boundaries of what some consoles can handle . In the end it’s probably very difficult for dtg to satisfy everyone here , with pc users obviously not wanting to sacrifice graphics quality , layers etc , but then console users needing to be satisfied too. I read an article online yesterday suggesting more and more people are opting to buy a gaming pc rather than console , as for not much more money than a console you can now get a fairly powerful gaming PC.
For the upcoming consoles (even though that will still take a while), you’ll end up paying almost as much as for a gaming PC, so I think the choice for a PC will be made pretty quickly. A new console for the price of a PS5 or Xbox Series X is unthinkable, so you can safely assume that switching to the next generation will come with a significant price increase and I fear you’ll be looking at around $1000, if not more. For context: the upcoming Steam Machine will also cost around $1000.
If only reading the entire statement was a thing… Still haven’t addressed my question but whatever…. Ummm okay Why comment if you’re not going to bother addressing my actual question? Thanks for the Feedback, Good to know I’m not the only one making the decision to leave Thanks and yes I agree .Think I’m going to shelf TSW for min the out out mediocre content compared to what’s on the horizon Thanks for the Feedback, and yes I play most US Content but excuse my ignorance but I don’t see how putting out the same red loco does anything but people seem to still buy it I will admit the routes does look far better impressive than what we get in the US Thanks , Yes I agree the Scenery,Roads signage railroad crossing look god awful of US Content as if it’s just copy and some don’t even bother to work .
From the rules. Just as an FYI, this forum has the ability to quote multiple posts at once that you can respond to so you don't need a separate post for each response
So let me get this straight... You say that you are leaving, then proceed to make seven (EDIT: eight), yes EIGHT, posts in a row? Oh, and FYI, this isn't an airport, you don't need to announce your departure...
Thanks I think DTG unless I missed the announcement should’ve marketed more towards PC if they knew the game would run better than console . I don’t remember and official hey if you want better graphics play on PC God forbid I respond and see to it my question was answered.. And thank you for attending my airport announcement.
Hey sir#5236 Just letting you know that you are able to add multiple quotes into one message. Replying to individual messages in short succesion like this is technically spam, so please consider using multiple quotes in the future. Thank you.
Please let us know if Xbox is just a dud so I can return this hardware as unusable with the advertised software.
