I've noticed that with the exception of briefly checking some patch updates to see if any differences/improvements, all I've played recently is the 3 Just Trains routes. And in the last couple of days all I've done is Preston-specific services across all three. I hope one day there will exist the potential to have all the JT routes combined into one massive route, one timetable connecting them all. No more route-hopping and finding your 87 has been replaced by an 86 at Preston and the Mk3s are now Mk2s. I could even see it as a standalone "network" game as given the branches JT have added to their routes, it really is a network now isn't it? And with having it all as one mega route/network, it would save duplication of places in multiple routes and thus some disk space. The joy of a continuous Crewe-Carlisle run or having the chance to end Blackpool runs at Leyland instead of Preston, or the extra freight opportunities. You'd need some stamina for any container workings between Crewe and Carlisle! Imagine getting off a service at Carlisle and then deciding you fancy a run out to the coast (on their upcoming route). The idea of a mega merged route or standalone network game really appeals. I'm not the only one who feels this way, am I?
A merge of all four JT routes would be awesome. You could be a enthusiast back in 1986 with a Rover ticket. Get on a train at Crewe for example and travel to Whitehaven via Blackpool.
I've really enjoyed flitting between the 3 routes doing different things but the route hop really kills the immersion.
Even a "would you like to continue this sevice on [route]" option that transfers your loco number and coach liveries and numbers would be excellent
Yeah I think it could be much more intuitive without really change the base tech behind it. I think the biggest problem though is that there isn’t really any foresight going into content development, it’s the same the other way round too where routes are being made but little is done to synergise the timetable to older routes that are connected in reality. Even AAS who had both the WCMLS TT & WCMLTV TT designed with each other in mind, the rolling stock is mismatched between the two so the immersion of it being one service goes out the window.
