... are unplayble on seiesX. I just tested br145 and almost every german route delivered either blurry rextures or CTD. THIS IS PURE DISASTER.
Yup I’ve long since deleted German content from my collection, it’s the worst of the worst for blurring IMO. I’ve got other issues with German content but the guaranteed blurring puts me right off even being interested in anything new announced. It’s an issue that’s taking far too long to sort & if they’d have paid attention to it years ago when it cropped up, we might have actually gotten past it by now.
you’d like to think so, wouldn’t you. blurry textures have been happening since tsw2 and the fact that 5 years later it’s gotten worse is unacceptable
This is caused by the amount of layers for AI trains. The route it self is not that bad. German routes have the most different trains of all the different countries in the game. Also the amount and the more complex track layout caused this issue.
The only way I find to play the German content is with the default route stock and nothing else. But it makes for really dead runs.
but but but layer selector. utter nonsense. the whole point of german routes in tsw has become being able to use a wide variety of rolling stock that you own, and now players are having to compromise that just to avoid the routes dropping to a few pixels. i’ve had to do this with frankfurt fulda, it was my favourite of the 3 core tsw5 routes until it became plagued by blurry textures and CTDs on xbox and i haven’t completed a full run since. that must be what, over a year and a half ago now? but its fine, tsw7 is on the way and it’ll be full of bug fixes, because they’ve said that’s what’s going to happen
For BLD on XSX I had very good experiences, with limited blurring, on the 145 timetable in 4K with all layers except DCZ, and that layer adds very little. FTF is more problematic but I find it runs pretty well in 4K if you don't include the layers from SKW. That of course removes a fair few ICE services. Turning off volumetric fog and limiting livery substitutions also helps. I know it's not ideal but maybe better than not playing. Also for the record I don't think blurred textures will be fixed in TSW7 either. As we are seeing the solution from DTG is just to make the models with less detail and fidelity. And even that is not really working.
I can't say German routes are unplayable, I own most German routes and I'm even playing on Series S with only 10GB of RAM. Only a few routes have a limited timetable on Series S compared to Series X (Kinzigtalbahn and Ludwigsbahn), but I do not see that much blurry textures and also no crashes. The only German route I personally have problems with is SKA with the new timetable. However, I have only 1 old pre TSW3 German route installed (RSN, ok and the SKA remaster) but I don't own the BR145. So maybe there is something with the BR145 and I know the Stuggart route can be blurry too.
Thats odd on Series X i get blurry textures on. Dresden-Liepzig, Dresden-Riesa, FTF, Mannheim, Stuttgart. Salzburg to Rosenhiem, SKA with revamped timetable, I have 120 DLC installed but the 145 is not one of them.
For Dresden - Riesa I have all layers installed, including Railpool Vectron, no blurry textures. For Salzburg - Rosenheim i'm only missing the BR363 layer, and also no blurry textures. SKA with revamped timetable is blurry for me too, I even had crashes on this route. As I'm playing on Series S, I'm playing in HD mode as 4K is not doable FPS wise.
Using HD mode is also an option to make it more playable, but maybe not what you want to hear. High res textures can consume quite some memory.
Those textures are like 720p, you may as well just have the blurry texture issue. What’s laughable about that HD mode is that you STILL get blurry textures.
Pretty sure blurry textures are caused by AI trains, hence why so many german routes are horrid when it comes to blurring. However, I think DTG are pulling a fast one claiming it's optimisation issue It's s bug. Before textures pretty much fail on a route, there is a period where textures fail before reloading to normal. However. It is when an AI train comes into view where textures reload. Textures fail again about 15seconds after AI train disappears from view. This happened on 10 separate occasions on one of the British Aces video's WCML Trent Valley on Xbox video At 20.45 you see an AI train on bridge ahead. 21.14 blurry textures hit 25.10 textures come back Few seconds later AI train comes into view 25.34 textures gone 26.43 textures back Few seconds later - AI train 27.09 textures gone 29.07 textures back Few seconds - AI train (does struggle to keep textures) 29.34 textures gone 31.41 textures back AI train in view (struggles again) 32.34 gone 34.29 textures back AI train 34.52 gone 35.32 textures back AI train 35.57 gone 36.15 textures back AI train (struggles again) 36.57 gone 39.40 textures back AI train (but struggles) 40.24 gone 41.50 textures back AI train 42.12 gone After that they were gone for good. Have also noticed on foot that sometimes the good textures return when an AI train passes you. The good textures leave when the train departs That has got to be a bug
Yeah I think it’s something within the core that’s since become buried under spaghetti code, hence it not being sorted yet. As I’ve said elsewhere if this issue were paid any attention when it first appeared, we’d likely be rid of it. I think someone somewhere has done a pretty detailed analysis on the problem being related to suspension, I’ve become more convinced of that since train mods break texturing once said train has been updated with suspension.
There is a toggle in the game settings where you can select HD or 4K mode. The output mode of the Xbox you're talking about, doesn't change the internal resolution of the game, actually is doesn't do anything to games, it's nothing more then a setting to match the resolution of your monitor/tv.
The textures are not really the problem in HD mode. There are some dials for example not looking really sharp (like on the OBB Talent 1), but overall the textures are quite ok. The real issue is the terrible TAA, which is way less noticeable on 4K, due to the high resolution.
