We've now had 3 routes from Just Trains, all the same era, all connected, and a fourth is on the way. I was wondering what DLC would you love to see one day that could be used on the routes? Here's mine. I'd love to see a roarer. Class 81s were my favourites but the 85s would probably be more practical. Would be great to hear those roarer sounds in-game! Even though there were only 3, it would be nice to have an 86/1, an 86 capable of 110mph running. Diesel-wise would love a Class 25. They were on the way out when the routes are set but there were still a number of examples around. As for a DMU, for me the most obvious addition - not including the forthcoming 108 - would a 104. For me, that era the 104s were so common at Blackpool and Preston -- anyone remember the white stripe units? It was such a shame the 104 that was supposedly being built, never materialised. EMUs, a 304 would be amazing. Not much work for them on the Crewe-Preston route but even short services, I'd use them! Plus on a rare occasion they worked to Preston (and the famous run to Carlisle would make for an awesome scenario!). Of course, the one thing I think we'll never see in TSW, an APT. Finally, I'd love some Mk1s. Yes, I know there's some in TSW, but they're nothing compared to those built by JT. I love the RMBs and RBRs. The detail is outstanding. Agree? Disagree? Have I left anything out? (And could you imagine most/all of the above sold as a standalone DLC? I'd be "take my money!" )
I would probably buy nearly all of that, especially more MK1s. I would like to see a Class 56 addditionaly to that. Just Trains would probably not do anything steam related but I´d really like to thrash up Shap with a LMS Coronation Class aswell. Another Thing I´d like JT to do, would be a scotish, maybe Highlands based route with a nice Class 26.
A 25, 85 and a 104 would be three which immediately spring to mind. I would love a 304 (or one of the unrefurbished 303's which ended up in Manchester) but I think without a full route to run it on it would be a bit of a waste. I would love to see a 1986 Crewe to Liverpool but I some would complain about duplication.
There’s plenty they can do to add to the current selection of routes, but I’ve always thought JT would work wonders with some NSE era content.
No more trains on these routes. There are already too many trains for the routes to work well enough. They really should be left with just the stock they have now. Just the addition of the new subclass of Class 86 from Crewe-Preston has pushed Preston-Carlisle over the edge into blurry textures and Crewe-Preston itself is well overloaded. I’m sure the new DMU coming with the next route will make things even worse. The routes are plenty busy enough as they are. Let’s not spoil them. There’s still optimisation work to be done but adding more trains will definitely make the routes worse. In the immortal words of this forum “Enough is enough” and this time it actually matters. JT can move on to something else where the new trains in whatever that is don’t appear on the current routes and ruin them.
An updated 37 and 32 would be beautiful! Although I'd personally love a route in a different area maybe Southern region with an updated 33 and a thumper? Would love the North Wales line in the 80s too!
I think the way they did it with the Blackpool DLC is the way to go. If you have awesome hardware, here is an updated timetable with more variety of rolling stock. If you dont, you can always keep using the original timetable that came with the DLC and not lose anything.
The 3 trains and 1 livery I'd like to see are a 25, 50 and Valenta HST. For the livery a BR Blue 33. I don't really mind who makes them, but with JT being the Era specialists for this period of time, would be great if they did
Class 104. Specifically the white liner units that were based out of newton heath depot to run on blackpool north services. Could include this with a victoria to preston route, or a class 86/0. 85s and 25s also come to mind
OP pretty much covers it, the other two "big" UK Classic diesels we're missing are the Class 50 (but that would need a period Western Region Paddington to WoE or Waterloo to Exeter route) and of course the Class 55 Deltic - which would need a backdated section of the ECML.
I'd love a Scottish route with a 26 and 27, two of my favourite locos. And you could always layer in the 26 at Carlisle!
The updated Blackpool Branches runs like a dream on my PC. And this is with more services in the timetable.
A 25 and a reworked blue 37 (like they did with the 20) would fit nicely in the Carlisle-Whitehaven route. The 25 (/9) would work well on Carlisle-Preston too, come to think of it. For me it'd be great if they carried on building out around the routes that they've got - given that Carlisle-Glasgow is off the cards, I'd say Preston-Manchester next (104?), or Preston-Liverpool (104 again)/Livepool-Crewe (I know it's already been done in Spirit Of Steam, so that's probably not likely to get past DTG as a proposal). Carlisle-Newcastle (03, 37, 46?) would be fun too, especially if they built Tyne Yard... they could meander down to Darlington next and hook up with Tees Valley (cue the remaster!)... And if they're done with the north-west, maybe they could rework some of their TSC West Country stuff... I'd love to see Cardiff-Bristol-Bath-Westbury in the game!
Personally I’d like to see Just trains expand over to Leeds via either the Settle and Carlisle or through the connection at Carnforth or both. Then I’d like to see a Preston to Manchester route which would then join up to the Northern Transpennine route which would need to have a remaster so it can meet in Leeds and do big loop really. Then with the line to Manchester, you could run the line down to Crewe. Then loco wise, the class 25 and 56 would be nice along with a class 114 potentially. It would also be nice for the class 40, 45 and 31 to have an upgrade.
As a huge lover of JT's saga, I'm hoping for: Diesels: A small shunter (03 maybe?) - 50 - 56 - 25/26 - 104 - 121 - Thumpers Electrics: - 76/77 - 81/85 - 1st gen EMUs (any) Routes: - Woodhead (1960s) - West Highland (early 80s) - Something Welsh (North Wales would be epic) - Anything NSE
Can’t believe I forgot Woodhead! Manchester was my other other mecca after Crewe in the Runabout season. They just built a brilliant Springs Branch, imagine what they could do with Reddish, Guide Bridge and Wath! Great call.
I am just happy that Just Trains confirmed they have more exciting plans in the works. I'd buy a Just Trains 1987 version of Crewe to Liverpool with the 304 included just to add to their network, but I think they indicated a bit of a change is coming next. If it's NSE, I'm in, no questions asked.
I feel like their TfW Pacer was maybe a precursor for Crewe to Holyhead. Be interesting. I see this as less likely but I’d like to see a route between Preston & Manchester now but I can’t see it. Most likely? Carlisle to Glasgow surely? I did Eastbourne to Carlisle with route hopping on Saturday and that really was something. If you bring Carlisle to Glasgow into the game it’s gonna be even better. I find it interesting that we’ve been spoon fed this idea for some time by DTG that the longer routes aren’t as popular as people might think yet here we are with a forum full of people doing endurance runs these past few weeks now we’ve got some significant interconnecting parts of the WCML. To that I’d say to Just Trains…build out from Crewe or go north from Carlisle. Already looking forward to the Whitehaven route too
