It's All Your Fault, Dovetail Games!

It all started a few years back with a heavily discounted Humble Bundle including TSW3. I didn't have, to be honest, any expectations, but as a PC gamer and fan of simulations, especially flight sims, I was kind of intrigued, so I bought the bundle.

It kind of hit me. Driving trains was way more interesting and fun than I initially anticipated.

A significant four digit euro sum of soft- and hardware later (I have all German routes and almost all other German DLCs plus a hardware upgrade because honestly, software-wise TSW is really ), I have accumulated more than 1500 hours over TSW 3, 4, 5 and 6.

I was kind of unhappy with my current profession on and off for over a decade. Then there were massive layoffs at my company. Fortunately I wasn't affected, but that made me think about my job and my future again.

Long story short: I will start my re-training as train driver in two months. If it wasn't for TSW, I would have never even thought of becoming a train driver.

And thats all your fault, Dovetail Games!

I also work on the railway, how much of that is down to MSTS/TSC/TSW is up in the air, but I'm sure it's a factor.

 

When I read the title, to be honest I entered this thread to say this was why they were considering getting rid of off-topic. However, I'm glad to see that it is actually good news. Congratulations on your new job - hope the training goes well!

now this some nice positive clickbait if I've ever seen one lol

edit: not gonna lie, I am also thinking of applying, tho there are factors that are kinda deterring me from doing so (some of stuff during training plus overall state of Slovak railways in general)

maybe not as big, but I could maybe liken it to the impact of Tarja Turunen and Nightwish on the numbers of women pursuing opera singing career, even if only in new metal bands ... not huge but definitely a factor
