I feel like for future tsw games there should be no gen 8 support i mean us old gen players not getting no more add-ons it looks like lol does anyone agree

Id be very surprised if gen8 was supported because looking at bigger picture games like GTA6 totally bypass gen8 which is indicitive of shift plus looking at TSW6 as whole some reduced timetables for gen 8 but majority of Dlc not been gen8 however I guess only time will tell when details release for next TSW iteration

It's not a entirely new discussion, this has been an ongoing discussion for the last 2 years or so...

Gen 8 is essentially obsolete technology dating from 2013. It's completely redundant at this point. Us on Gen9 are having trouble with TSW, so why Gen8 is still a thing is beyond me!

No skin in the game for me as I’m not on gen8 & I’m not one of those that believes platforms hold things back for TSW.

I do think Gen8 got done real dirty with TSW6, once they realised they couldn’t even get the core routes working without resorting to ‘one train covers every service’ they should have dropped it. Blatant cash grab IMO.

absolutely, lots of gen 8 players complain that it’s unfair because they don’t have money to upgrade, which i understand and it’s a fair point, but at the same time it’s unfair on them to be mis sold products

It's already two years since they started cutting stuff from GTAV on Gen8 in order to free up memory to keep delivering updates on those consoles.

I have no skin in this game as a PC player, but it occurs to me that DTG has several options here:
    • Release a TSW7 that's Gen 9 only, meaning no future content can be Gen 8 (even remasters of older, less taxing routes that in theory could run on Gen 8); essentially, cutting Gen 8 adrift completely in one fell swoop
    • Release a TSW7 that is also Gen 8 compatible, which preserves support for old routes on Gen 8 but repeats the issue from TSW6 that the core routes are severely curtailed for Gen 8 and that most future DLC won't be Gen 8 at all
    • Don't release a TSW7; TSW6 remains the 'core' version going forward for a UE4-based train sim, with support for Gen 8 on old routes and remastered older routes (if capable); content will likely continue to be mostly Gen 9 only

Not only do I agree with that as a Gen 8 (PS4 to be exact) player, what of those options is the most likely and why?

    Please and thank you

Have any of the TSW6 era DLCs actually been available for gen 8? I can’t think of any, so suspect the writing is on the wall for TSW7.

For ex of one of them

    https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/EP2866-PPSA29953_00-TSW6GWRHSTFAREWE

GWR HST Farewell Pack Released on 4/16/2026 clearly supports Gen 8 (PS4) and since TSW6 was released on September 30, 2025.

    Good guess but wrong.
