I guarantee you its going to involve shafting North American players with little to no content, while appeasing their UK/EU fanbase, as per usual.

You can't blame them for focusing on content that obviously sells better. If US content sold really well, I'm sure they wouldn't hesitate to make more of it.

Could be the Wherry Lines for TSW7, someone's making it apparently, maybe it's Rivet. Would make some sort of sense because E Anglia hasn't been covered so far in sim.

It’s now been confirmed there is a license for South West Trains. Hopefully the new route on TSW7 is a Class 455/450 derived SWML route please please

edit: just realised massively late to the party haha, just saw the roadmap

Portsmouth Direct Line is absolute historical route for TSC! It was one the first UK routes i have played in TSC.

Well you could read my contributions to this thread...

    https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/connected-journey-ideas.98385/

But yes, in short it's getting very hard to feel optimistic about TSW and certainly the prospect of paying £50 for three modern routes which are probably not exactly bubbling under on my personal wishlist. But hey, that's just me, I'm not stopping anyone else enthusing about driving one handled trains on modern routes. I'm just an old dinosaur! :)

To be honest I'm not holding out much hope it's a SW-based route. Bar the MML with EMT (and ignoring BR content) the train operators found ingame (for the UK at least) are generally the current ones unless I'm mistaken.

Saying that if whoever is developing the route does set it in the SWT period I'd be delighted. There's always the potential for more variety, I.e. 442/444/450/455/458/707.

You talking about the company that skipped on two gold mines when it comes to trains being br and steam which sells a ton and steam would have done the same if DTG wasn’t lazy when it came to fixing it

It would be nice to see something like the GWML branches or cardiff city for an anglia route. Think a section of the GEML for the 745s and some branches for the 755s, maybe centered around Ipswich/Norwich, or backdated to ONE era with an 86, 90 and a 156

    VICTORY!!!!!

Seems like a no brainer for the TSW7 route, though I'd still probably prefer the Stageocah liveries (EDIT - it will be in South West trains rather than SWR) and/or slamdoor but I'll take all the scraps I can get. It seems like the GWR/XC licence situation we had last year. (Unless they are doing it on purpose and we are actually getting a Greater Anglia Aventra-fest).

However it's coming at the wrong time. With the state of the game in tatters, any route even vaguely busy is a blur-fest, rendering it useful in terms of enjoyment.

I'd be quite happy if a lot of optimisation went into TSW7 and we get a high-quality class 450 sound set (ideally by the guy that did the 350/4 sounds).

PS get the 458/0 in as well!!!!

Would love Waterloo - Portsmouth as the main route alongside the commuter stopping branch routes out of Waterloo to the various destinations. It’s around 65 miles so perfectly achievable.

alternatively Waterloo - Reading / Windsor which would route hop nicely to the GWR and new branch lines route. Again, with the local commuter stopping lines.

Despite the current state of the game, SWR would be a welcome addition to TSW

My advice has nothing to do with the state of the game it's more there is a license nothing more so trow all kinds of conspiracy could be potential a overhyped misunderstanding. And if we talking about the state of the game a London (big city commuter route) is for me not the best choice so I'm not convinced it will be a SWR route. If you looked at WCML south you know the problem what I ment

Yes of course. I imagine DTG specifically mentioned it in this roadmap just to throw us off.

A 458 in game will be nice, especially as they're being withdrawn (and I'm rather fond of them), but I definitely don't think we'll get a /0 variant, as I don't think a possible route will be set in the era when they were still around.

This pictures shows why its for me not so sure if DTG will build a route in London with the actual state of the game. Or are they routes for SWR that did not terminates at Waterloo Station? Sofar i know nearly every route end in Waterloo Station.
This is a sort of Frankfurt Main Hbf on Steroids.... Without a major game overhaul this is not really realistic if you asking me

Waterloo would be absolutely majestic, but as a first SWT route I was thinking Basingstoke to Bournemouth. Included trains would be the 450/444 and the deluxe unit would be the class 442 with a slightly backdated timetable.

Yeah that would be way more realistic but only a class 450 and a cross country service is not that really exiting right?! There are very few layers that can be used.

And a class 442 they did not have an option to obtain reference information I guess

I seem to remember in some sketches for the TSW2 promotion material a 442 was shown off which means one was planned to be worked on, who knows DTG might have made a bit of progress before dropping it. If so, it could be reused.

you say that but if it sold well, they would do more of it. I can't stand steam, I wouldn't even play it free of charge and BR routes don't really interest me all that much. Not everyone despises modern content.

From end-to-end it'd be an hour long run, not to mention the varied calling patterns and services joining on at different sides of the route. The driving experience would be interesting and varied too. Starting with a 100mph dash through Winchester to Southampton Airport Parkway, passing the docks at Southampton before arriving into the architecturallly marvellous Bournemouth station.

    For layers there'd be:
    Class 66 & 70 for intermodalfrieght
Class 08 for shunting at Eastleigh yards
Class 150 for GWR AI at Southampton Central & limited services via Eastleigh
Class 166 for GWR AI at Basingstoke
Class 220 for Manchester to Bournemouth services
Class 377 for Southern AI at Southampton Central & limited services via Eastleigh
    Class 47 for Statesman railtours

In terms of reference for the 442, if Just Trains are able to recreate routes from the 1980s without a time machine, I wouldn't take lack of reference material as a no for an answer.

Would you know where I can find these plans? I never knew about that.

that stretch of the route would be too quiet IMO. i feel like it has to be something like waterloo to guildford but with both possible routes: the fast route via woking and the slow route via cobham. there would be so much variety...i'm asking a heck of a lot i know

Yeah, we get it. They're a UK based dev. It is, however, a global world - and there is a considerable fanbase in both Canada and the US and the numbers don't lie - there is a staggering overrepresentation of European and British content. The NA content is garbage, and done poorly. If you're suggesting a continent that at one point in time had hundreds of railways, like NYC, PRR, Reading, Rock Island, Chessie (C&O/B&O), SOO, CN/CP, UP/SP, Rio Grande, the list goes on and on and on and on. And yet here we are, with another lame "freight" pack and probably some yawn fest of a commuter route in the pipe. The German content, is at least, interesting - with somewhat complex signalling (very basically modeled) and requires some skill, but no one unless they live there, wants to drive another squeaky horned train up and down the west coast of england. been there, done that.

    Ive just now noticed this..

    image-2.png

ai layers at Clapham Junction? what could that mean? Have DTG slipped up here?
The only route that features Clapham Junction is BML. But that route is old...

Could Clapham Junction be part of an upcoming route?

Tbf, I'm also on ps5 base model and I've only seen Blurries 4 or so times since 2020 but I drive UK routes only. I have all except 3 Cargo line, Blackpool Branches (cos i haven't much interest) and the Pendolino.
The times I have seen them they've never blurred up the speedo or brake gauges so it'd never bothered me too much. But yeah.

I always hoped we'd get the North Wales Coast route like we had in TSC. Such a picturesque route with so much variability in scenery and landmarks between Chester and Holyhead. It would also very nearly fill in the gap between London Euston to Holyhead all except a short stretch between Crewe and Chester. When the 805 was released it gave me some hope, but I won't hold my breath. We were spoilt with the amount of routes we had in TSC.

I’m not seeing that, it just says around Richmond on the page I read. Something has slipped here hopefully anyway. At the very least the BML badly needs SWT AI services even if it’s one on every platform every 15 mins to keep the frame rates ok, heck even if they are static with the doors open just anything really that brings CLJ to life. The Class 700 could easily now be chopped into 5 car 707s now too. This really is for me personally a “minute it comes out” purchase

I would've thought the most likely explanation is that Johannes is working on a CLJ branch extension too to make the Mildmay complete, rather than a whole new route or an update to BML.

*Extreme* reading between the lines though, so take it with a health warning.

It's South West Trains (which ceased in 2017), so I don't think we'll be seeing a Class 701 or a GBR livery.

The Clapham Junction part has been quietly removed. I'm leaning towards it being an error rather than a slip‑up, although it is peculiar.

Or the artist got confused and drew the wrong train. Easily done if the German train is also a 442. Hmmmm.

It was an error it was confirmed at the time I think. Not that a 442 wouldn’t be welcome, most certainly would be!

Especially as they reused the 4REP traction motors. Now a 4REP plus TC's and a 33/1 on from Bournemouth to Weymouth (plus the boat train to the Quay) would make my day!

Having that in TSW, TC,TC,REP Basingstoke to Bournemouth detach and then having to do the 33 attachment for the Weymouth runs. That would be fun. Especially if they could replicate the drinks being spilt every time the REP jolted the 8 car TC on departure. Maximum points for authenticity

I'm surprised even as a distant future route (even if for UE6 as a whole new TSW game) no one really mentions wanting an Italy high speed route, say from Milan to Bologna/Florence to Rome/Rome to Naples. Driving high speed routes through beautiful landscape, vineyards and architecture. Or perhaps shorter local passenger routes around Rome and Vatican City. Could be cool as a future route if done right. But I would also hate to see it crash and burn the way LGV Mediterranee: Marseille did where it received no further love or expansion.

I’ll be happy with some save game fixes and improvements, the weather carrying forward on a saved timetable run and the fluff they brought in last year finally working properly.
