Ps5 pro. I reported on another thread that completing tutorials seems to cause the tsw6 save file to be eventually corrupted. My game is up to date and I just completed 2 random tutorials, then tried loading into a morristown timetable and once again got an error message and my profile got corrupted. This seems to be random but it happens after doing some tutorials. Is it possibly because of my high lvl profile? Dtg, have you looked into this issue, or not a priority atm? Thanks
Did you receive the same CE-100028-1 error prior to the corruption as mentioned in this thread? I've been waiting 6 months for DTG to acknowledge/fix the issue. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/profile-save-issue-when-starting-tsw6.94403/
Ps5. At this point I can’t complete a single tutorial or service. At the end of the run my save file gets corrupted. I get a message CE-100028-1. I cleared cache and rebuild database, reinstalled the game. Nothing works. Maybe it’s the size of the save file (about 170MB) with so many services competed - I’m (or was) level 1593. Hundreds of hours invested lol. I finished 75% of all Trenton and Morristown timetable services and hundreds on other routes. So good luck to you all on ps5 if you’re high level player. This happened to few other people already but maybe too few for DTG to even acknowledge the issue.
It is disconcerting to see this happening to another PS5 player. I’m sorry that this is happening to a profile that you have invested so much time in. I think DTG should use you as a test case for troubleshooting and fixing this issue. I recently restored my backup following the CE-100028-1 error and profile corruption. Based on your experience and others, it is sure to corrupt again soon. I haven’t seen this acknowledged by DTG since DTG-Chris mentioned an investigation back in January. It would be great to hear an update on that. It’s quite a shame that there hasn’t been a more vocal response to an issue affecting some of the game’s most dedicated players. Have you done any troubleshooting? I assume that you have been restoring backups after it corrupts your profile. Are you restoring a USB backup or cloud backup when that happens? I’m just curious because I was planning to try some troubleshooting when my profile corrupts again. I was thinking of trying things like only installing a single route, logging out of Dovetail Live, anything I could think of that could possibly impact the corruption that is occurring at the point of service completion. Wishing you better luck with this game in the future!
I only have cloud backup as Ps5 won’t allow usb backup of individual save files. I have no idea what is causing it. For me it started happening about a month ago. I finished few tutorials and it got corrupted in the end. Next time it happened at the end of third random tutorial. I figured maybe it’s a memory issue so tried completing one tutorial, restart the game and continue. No dice. Cleared cache, reinstalled the game with only us routes, and then was getting file corruption every time I finished just one tutorial. I figured i’d just stick to timetable services but today the service I tried on morristown always ended corrupted. It only happens when you finish the service. If I quit to main menu during the service, it’s not getting corrupted. I think it’s a coding issue but not enough people are affected by it.
As expected, my profile corrupted itself again. Right after I posted that, I did the following: 1. Backed up my PS5 data to USB. 2. Purchased the GP60 DLC. 3. Completed a tutorial. 4. I received the CE-100028-1 error, and my profile corrupted itself and disappeared upon launching TSW again. Then I restored the full PS5 backup but only installed Cajon Pass+GP60, logged out of Dovetail Live, and attempted the GP60 tutorial again. I received the same error and my profile corrupted itself again! So I think it’s safe to say that the PS5 profile corruption issue is unrelated to the DLC mounting issue. I don’t have any further troubleshooting ideas. At this point, I’m just incredibly frustrated that this hasn’t been addressed and doesn’t seem to be a priority. I won’t be able to continue using my profile until the bug is fixed. I’ll have to create a secondary profile and use a spreadsheet to track my progress. Yay. Selfishly, I almost wish this bug was affecting more players. Perhaps DTG would notice and do something.
So you guys have 100% repro on this issue? And only the two of you? Have you checked the article on PlayStation support discussing that error? How much SSD free space do you have? Do you have the stock one or did you replace/install a new one? Very interesting issue.
Yes, if I do a GP60 tutorial, my profile will corrupt and be lost. Game of Trains is also in the same boat. His profile will be corrupted if he completes a tutorial or service. It's not just us. It seems that this bug will eventually hit every PS5 player who has a very high level (1000-1500). This other topic contains comments from other players that have encountered this bug. The PlayStation article for the CE-100028-1 error indicates that it is a generic out of space issue. However, the players who've reported this problem have plenty of free space on their SSDs. This seems to be a coding issue during the profile save routine that occurs at the end of a service/tutorial. It's as if the save file has a certain amount of space allocated and high level profiles eventually begin to exceed that allocation. I have the stock SSD and plenty of free space. Interesting is one word for it. Investing thousands of hours into a game only to have your profile corrupt and disappear randomly has been a miserable experience for myself and others. On top of that, we've heard nothing but crickets on this issue from DTG for over 6 months. I've been trying to get the word out because this will begin to affect more PS5 players eventually. It's only a matter of time.
I’m running ps5pro with no additional hardware. Over 50% of free space. To be honest I’m sick of testing things for the sake of trying to figure it out, while dtg does nothing to help. It seems 100% repo on newer content (tsw5 onward) for timetable. With old routes it’s a hit or miss- sometimes it doesn’t corrupt. For tutorials , it doesn't matter, every tutorial I tried recently ended up corrupting the save file. Right now, I’m so discouraged to play this game (simrail on ps5 keeps me entertained!). I really don't want to loose so much progress, and have considered just porting tsw5 save file again but if it’s going to corrupt at some point then what’s the point
Yeah, I didn't mean to sound dismissive or anything, it's just I do video game QA for a living and these kinds of sneaky buggers are actually interesting issues to try to isolate and eliminate. I totally feel for your your crappy experience. Now, there is some good info over here, and I hope someone will log a ticket providing all this to the dev team. I see how this might be dismissed as simply affecting the insignificant minority of users, but DTG Harry - please push this up the stream, 100% repro on data file corruption upon completion of a tutorial is a critical priority bug, even if most users are not having high enough levels yet (but by definition the number of affected users will do up once they reach far enough point. Sorry guys, not much I can do to help, I don't even play on PlayStation, Thankfully, with moving away from trophies in older DLCs there is limited impact to playing on a new profile, but I hope your issue is fixed and you can play on your old profiles just fine. Best of luck. EDIT: Actually I see now in the other thread that this is already under investigation, no need to call out Harriet.
My apologies for the snark! It is not your reply that I found to be dismissive; it is DTG's lackluster response to such a major bug. I really appreciate your efforts to assist and get the word out! This line item is mentioned in the patch notes for tomorrow's patch! I've asked dtg-jan if this is meant to address the PS5 save issue in the July roadmap topic. We'll get to test it tomorrow regardless!
Today's patch did not fix this problem. My profile corrupted itself after completing a tutorial. Now I get to restore my PS5 backup and download all the DLC again. Yay.
