Release games less frequently—spacing out the releases over longer intervals—because the titles aren't substantial enough, and each new TSW iteration doesn't necessarily bring anything truly new or significant.
Yeah I don't think they're going to stop pumping out yearly releases until tsw ends at this point. I think the community has made our thoughts pretty clear over the years - yet they still continue
This discussion has been stirred up many times already, but it’s pointless… It’s not as if every employee can suddenly start working on fixing bugs. Compare it to expecting people from finance to do the work of management or the cafeteria… Not very productive. Besides, how is the company supposed to survive if production is suddenly stopped?!
we aren't talking about stopping DLC production (even though there haven't been any DTG DLCs on the roadmap for quite a while now) but rather putting an end to this nonsensical idea of a "new" game every year it’s such a huge hassle having to download over 500 GB of DLCs annually and for what? just so the game can sit on steam's front page for a few days, it's pathetic, don't you think? not to mention there’s nothing actually new, at most, you get a few features nobody asked for, a new UI color scheme, a logo with a different number and new color, and that’s it
Ah okay, I can agree with that! I’ve mentioned in another thread before that I don’t think now is the right time for a new game. Especially with the current console issues we’re dealing with in TSW6, I don’t think it reflects well on DTG to release a new game, and I stand by that. Sorry for misunderstanding your point earlier. I think it would’ve been more appropriate if DTG first delivered something substantial improvements that genuinely matter, not things placed behind a paywall or presented as if they’re giving us a “free upgrade.” People don’t want a new game; they want a game that works properly. So yes, in this context, I completely agree!
it’s much more financially advantageous for dtg to release a new title every year, so that’s what they’ll continue to do. whilst it’s annoying the free starter pack has removed the paywall in front of future dlcs in the respective iteration, and at the end of the day dtg are a business
Take large open-world games, for instance; they spend years on major releases, and once the games hit the market, they generate huge revenues—look at Rockstar Games as an example.
very weak comparison for a couple of reasons tsw and gta/rdr are very different in terms of how ‘open world’ they are. rockstar titles literally are open world, because you can explore them freely and there’s so much functionality. however, tsw is only open world in the sense that you can leave the cab and walk around stations and the lineside rockstar take several years to release new titles because that’s how long they take, given they’re creating a whole map from scratch, and the storyline contributes heavily to the amount of time it takes to release the new title. tsw does not have any of this; a new title for this game is always built on a foundation of a bundle of new routes; these don’t take several years to develop, and they release when they’re ready you mention ‘once they hit the market’- gta vi is going to do so well because of how long a wait it’s been, the hype, and how much is included. if tsw was to go 13 years without a new base title, then it would not succeed as much in terms of sales in comparison to gta 6 vs gta 5- there’s little ‘new’ with a tsw title except the routes and broken features, and there’s no element of surprise anymore with the base release of tsw. people know what to expect which is why going without one for a few years wouldn’t make a massive difference when it hits the market
All I ask is that they sell a proper product. If a bug does occur, what matters is the speed at which it is addressed; simply ignoring it is unacceptable. Just how many unresolved bugs are there across this entire forum? When exactly will they be fixed? I am keeping a close watch on the situation. If they cannot be fixed, I believe an explanation should be provided. ・It is unpleasant to have a train-related fatality occur every single time I play. (A new bug appeared after the patch intended to fix issues.) Everyone's opinions are very helpful.
The annual rebranding now seems to be a hard fix in the business model for TSW, as dictated by PullUp Entertainment or Focus whoever is running the show. It gives them fresh presence on the various store fronts and when the DLC is brought forward conveniently burying all the reviews it garnered in the previous versions.
Sorry I think you don’t really understand the kind of budgets companies like Rockstar have… Reportedly GTA 6 costs around €3 billion, and that’s obviously unrealistic for a studio like DTG. TSW is a niche market with very low sales numbers. I hope this numbers makes you understand why you're comparison is a bit difficult
I don't know why this would be convenient, since the series' Steam scores between 73% and 79% (per Steamdb) mean they're burying many more good reviews than bad ones.
