The letterbox cab views I definitley agree with. So disappointing they are still being made. The 730 Could have been a better looking train without that gangway!

The whole letterbox cab view can't exactly be blamed on DTG (although I'd like to I know say that is not the implication from most people), if that's how they are in real life, that is how they are. The same can be said for the 'one handle' argument... That's how they are in real life.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy the challenge of something like an 86/87, but through experience of the game even one handled units have different performances. An Electrostar like a 377 will perform completely different to something like the 350. I prefer the Electrostar range as I feel I have more control... The challenge isn't really in the acceleration with modern units, I always find it's in mastering the braking technique of each unit and having the memorise it's performance (for example an Electrostar you only really want to use brake notches 1 and 2 most of the time, where as on some Desiros & 8xx I've been told you never want to brake beyond 50% which is apparently how they'd be driven in real life. And the Pendolino I can manage most of the time only using brake notches 2 & 3)... It's all about the knowledge of driving each units unique style for me.

Anyway I won't detail the topic to much.

Oh of course. I blame the designers of said trains. I suppose trains aren't made to look nice or please the driver. It is a shame though.

if train would be made to look nice, they would not have those long nose, but a flat one

One of many reasons why on the Southern based routes, I like to alternate between the 313 and the 377. I actually find the 313 much more responsive, although it can be very sluggish at times, which is absolutely great. I also seem to see a deterioation in performance during extreme wet weather, not sure if I'm imagining that or it's deliberate, but again very fun to navigate. The 377/387/375 is nice to drive but is very easy by comparison, especially braking. The 700 is super responsive and I don't think I've ever overshot a platform driving one. Vote of confidence in Siemens there!

If by some miracle we do get something Mk3 derived like a 455, or the holy grail of Mk1 slam-door EMUs, it will hopefully be a unique drive experience - would love a bit more of a push on wheelslip characteristics like TSC seem to manage to capture!!

this is something I've been thinking heavily about...

The direct is still a month away, and the fact we pretty much know what its entire point is going to be already WITH the addition of these leaks almost makes it feel to good to be true.

What if, JT leaking TSW7 like this twice in a row, is just all a deliberate marketing strategy, and an act for DTG?

Think about it, JT doing that, twice in a row, for such a big new title, cant be an accident nor a coincidence? it feels more deliberate to try and stir up speculation and get the hype moving.

DTG Alex, stated in a stream, that they were going to do things differently this year, what if, with these leaks, we're being let down an alley dead end?
Yeah, JT slipped up, but what if that was the entire point?

What if, the real thing they're developing, may not even be TSW7?

    Also to add on.
If leaks are not allowed on the forums, then how come the JT store page and Facebook leaks haven't been deleted yet?

This further makes me feel like its deliberate.

I think that's stretching the theory out a bit to much. I genuinely think JT made a hiccup on there end and nothing more.

I don't think it's as deep or intriguing either. We all practically know, whatever the next title of the game, it's only going to be the yearly natural successor. With the evidence we have so far that is.

If we get some more in-depth leaks I'd be willing to speculate more, but from the evidence we have so far it just looks like the yearly release... The only thing I'm excited about at the moment is the DLC announcements.

The ongoing optimisation issues and other little niggles have put a bit of a dampener on the whole thing for me personally. Last year the selling point was 'further optimisations' as a selling point, and a year later, with the exception of MVL, they are all still there.

I hate the be a buzz kill, but that's my opinion atleast. I'm not hyped as of now (if no one can tell already).

Come to think of it, it might be so.
The fact that TSW 7 is being released in which DTG has developed three new routes and three new trains (as in previous years) and is (once again) ignoring all the existing bugs, not to mention the problem of having to redownload everything, is a bit hard to stomach.
Either it's something profoundly different, or how TSW will end, only God knows.

Nothing else for it then. We'll have to have a route with trains that have large windscreens. A 321, 357, 720, 745 or perhaps a 333.

I have a feeling the UK route will showcase GBR in some way.
So I am clinging on to the hope of LTS or GE especially as they made a big thing last week of becoming GBR Anglia with a re liveried 357 and 720.

It was actually 2 of each 720501/144 and 357 008/020. The 720s have subsequently been on test runs between East Ham Depot and Grays in order to clear the Ilford ones for use on the LTS if needed.

It's quite possible that GBR-Anglia will move quickly to re-livery their fleet. We have history on this. First area to complete the application of yellow warning panels in the late 60s, our EMU fleet went from green to blue before the 70s dawned and we were also very quick to refresh interiors and repaint units into NSE colours. So the GBR livery could be rolled-out equally quickly, especially given the current surplus of 720s and 755s.

I don’t think anyone is blaming DTG for the prototype design, but decisions as to what goes in the game. I mean who at DTG and Rivet, quality issues aside, thought the 385 would be fun to drive on E to G?! Not so much letterbox, as postage stamp… Of course we need to be careful on this one as letterbox windows were a thing in BR days too. Most of the Southern EMU’s, the Inter City DMU’s and similar fronted Class 309’s. Class 304, 305 etc. all had quite small windscreens.

I agree. I'd go further and say that multiple units with gangways through to the next unit are far better for customers for when there's too many loud passengers at one end of the train, toilets are not in service or if the catering trolley is in the other half of the train.

But from a driver's perspective, the ones I know IRL prefer a more panoramic view from their seat at the front. My Freightliner mate loves Class 66s and 90s. Our local passenger train drivers have successfully resisted half cabs for decades, the 321 was originally going to either have a 319 front but without the door or a half cab and gangway. The 360s nearly had a 350 cab but the driver's union stepped in and now all of GBR Anglia's fleet have full size cabs and good views of the world outside. Which is another reason Essex/East Anglia should be in TSW.

But the holy grail of BR locos requested for TSW, the Deltic also had tiny windscreen for such a fast train.

it's good that I don't even need to watch the dovetail direct anymore since I already know what's going to be in it
I just hope they don't delay the tadami line for the TSW3 4th reskin aka TSW7

WRT the possibility of Leeds Local being the UK route, I have warmed slightly to the idea. If it included Leeds, Bradford, Ilkley and Skipton that’s around 40 route miles in a network style which, to be fair, is what many of us have been asking for. Going by a rather old timetable both Leeds and Bradford feed 4 trains an hour off peak into the network, 2 to Skipton and 2 to Ilkley from both end points, plus the S&C and Little North Western services from Leeds.

Looking at various maps, the route should offer some nice scenic views even along the more urban stretches.

The icing on the cake, though unlikely, would be inclusion of the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway with a bonus DLC steam loco. Also at the Skipton end the Grassington freight branch, if still active, for a few more miles.

Plenty of scope for Railway Children and Last Of The Summer Wine references in Mastery and Achievements. Who’s up for the Nora Batty Wrinkled Stockings award, ot the Compo Scruffiest Irk accolade!

So I can see why this may have lit the LAMPOIL, even if not the obvious first choice for a core route.

The caveat has to be how much involvement Rivet may have with this and I sincerely hope where the trains are concerned, these are firmly managed in house particularly the sounds or at least outsourced to someone who knows what they are doing.

It’s definitely still active, frequent freight in and out. Mostly 66s but believe 60s sometimes too.

If that's the case, I can confidently predict I'll be buying it next year, at 70% in their end of financial year desperation sale!

Trying to remember how much it was last year, hang on... Yes it was £58.49 with the little bit of preorder discount they gave (£64.99 without) so it's not beyond the realms of possibility your prediction might be spot on. And I don't honestly feel with nearly 11 months hindsight it was worth that. Riviera Line was okay but modern setting with boring trains. The German route extended one already played to death and didn't get my feet tapping with operational excitement or scenic interest on the extension. The American route left me cold. None of the additional DLC were up to much - the Class 220 buggy with sounds aliased to the 612 I believe, the buggy 294 and some American extra loco for the unengaging Morristown route. So if they want £80 (or £72) off me this year, all three routes and the additional DLC will have to blow me away.

Love how just trains quickly changed it,they should have then just ran with it because everyone in the sim knows, I bet they got a good ticking off behind closed doors from DTG,

Im still going for UK core route being northern
either modern Manchester Liverpool or Leeds/Sheffield.
or older Blue era North east, ie York/ Hull Newcastle etc probably with a full set of Class 43 Intercity 125 including coaches.

im saying this because they seem to be the gap in content.

also worth noting is that anything north of Manchester always seems to be Blue Era British rail, so a York or Newcastle would very much be that.,

It's a subjective matter so neither one of is right or wrong and I respect your views...

But I will say, from my own perspective, Riveria Line really exceeded my expectations last year and surprisingly it was a Rivet built route. The sounds of the Class 220 aren't bad either... Bare in mind the Class 220, 221, 185, 180, and the German locomotive all share the same QSK19 engines so it makes sense to use recordings from a locomotive that shares the same engine. Also to bare in mind, with no official sound trips dor the 220 and the sounds being a mix of several recordings I think the Voyager is pretty darn fine. The other thing was I was impressed that the 802 & 150 come along with the route to pad it out, so if you got the 220 too, the route had a diverse amount of rolling stock available on it from day one. So I think Rivet & DTG did really well altogether with Riveria.

The American route last year also exceeded my expectations and I really liked it, to the extent it got me into further American commuter routes.

So I as I say, I would politely disagree, I think TSW6s flag ship routes and deluxe locomotives were actually really good. Compared to TSW5 which was one of the worst releases in the games history and fell flat for me, TSW6 picked things up again. It's only fault is the optimisation issues at the moment.

    Another interesting thing with this..

    Screenshot_20260728_234800_Chrome.jpg

Cloud saving? we already have a built in save feature for routes, what could they possibly need cloud saving for?

What sort of feature could be used to utilise DTGs own servers?

I wouldn't read too much into that. I think all EGS games apply that variable whether it's a local save or not. The directory structure lines up with previous editions

Cloud saving would be useful though as medals, Level etc would carry over if you reinstalled windows or replaced your pc/hdd/ssd without backing up that folder (it's a feature many have asked for over a number of years)

Morristown line is one of the busiest US routes. You have the ALP46,ALP45, multilevel cab, and the Arrow3 with two big terminating stations (Hoboken and Penn) so is not an A to B route :)

It was superb in my opinion. Really gives you a gritty commuter feel which really hits the spot too...

The Arrow III I loved and it weirdly put me in the mind of the highly functional looking EPB units we used to have in the London & South East up until the mid 1990s.

If it wasn't for Morristown I wouldn't have ventured into the Stamford route. So yeah a fantastic all round route and little network. This comes from me and I'm hard to please too!

I'll put it here because I'm not sure where else to put it, but Alex has mentioned in the Q&A they have a solution for the redownloading we have to do every year. They've been working with XBox (and possibly other platforms, he wasn't clear about that), but they can't share any details yet (I wonder why :)).
EDIT: I misunderstood Alex's comment, this is being looked into, but there is no solution yet.

The solution has been there the whole time. Don't make us do it. Stick to one version
