Hi Guys After an enormous length of time involving the help of DTG Support, I have managed to register an account here that works ! Phew I have been a TSC user since 2013 and its my "go to" hobby, where I spend probably far more than I should on the game. I have gained a "fair" amount of knowledge about the running of the game, swapping stock, etc. BUT...if the game fails when I boot it up, I WOULD BE LOST ! Or if say something needed done with the "build" menu, like sorting out missing markers, broken consists etc I would need help. Well up to the last year or so I was in regular phone contact with a VERY knowledgable train simmer you may have heard of from Wakefield, called Gary Padley. I always knew whatever help I needed Gary would spend if needed, HOURS on the phone with me sorting my problems out. Sadly however Gary passed away a while ago, and I am now left adrift in an ocean without a paddle so to speak ! I have contacted many local railway clubs in the North West, to see if they have a "Train Sim Geek" who I could establish a friendship with over the phone, but despite all my enquiries I have had no results. So this is to ask if there is anyone out here who has a good in depth knowledge of the workings of TSC and who wouldnt mind helping a cronky old 68yo retired guy if he needed it ? I would not be a "cling on" and would make sure you set the pace. Please get in touch if you can help in anyway guys ! It would be really appreciated ! Thanks ! Derek
Incidentally, I'm sad to hear that Gary has died. I knew he was very unwell and wondered if that was the case as he'd been very quiet on here. He could rub you up the wrong way with the best of them, but he was also always willing to answer my questions too, and we had many long and helpful direct message conversations.
Sad news indeed. Gary was what I would call a rough diamond. Maybe a bit to direct for some people but I always found him very knowledgeable and helpful, both on the old UKTS site and on here. We had quite a few behind the scenes contact where he would be helping me out on one thing or another.
Gary could be a bit direct at times but I did not know he had died. I remember him as GPTech on UKTS and he was helpful in helping me solve a number of problems with repaints Sad news to have lost one of the people who knew so much about the game.
Hi Gary had moved of his own volition into a kind of sheltered houseing complex, where he found a new lease of life as he had a ground floor flat with access to their communal garden. He actually started living again, and enjoyed his weekly "old codgers night" once a week with the other blokes in the complex. They often had some pretty serious drinking sessions and incurred the wrath of the staff on occasions..lol. Gary could now move around freely instead of feeling trapped as he was in his terraced house. He could even have gone out in his electric wheelchair and caught a bus if he desired ! (But I dont think he ever did). His health deteriorated and he spent some time in Pinderfields Hospital Wakefield. But was eventually allowed back to his flat. I am led to believe that he was found collapsed over his computer desk by staff in the complex. It would be nice to think that he died whilst playing Train Sim Classic, which was his love ! RIP Gary me old mate ! Derek
Thats why I need to find someone with some of his knowledge about the game. He had fantastic in depth knowledge of TSC and nothing would beat him. If I could find someone with even HALF of that knowledge then I would feel happy. Any takers please guys ? Derek
He and I corresponded quite a lot on the old UKTS site. He was direct but extremely helpful and just didn't suffer fools glady. He also had tremendous knowledge of Yorkshire Ales and Beers! I will definitely miss him. RIP
If you care to look at the members list, you will find his last post here was about July last year. I'm afraid to say that I didn't have any time for him.
I'm saying it as I see it. I was one of the many people he used to pick on in the forums at UKTS and here. Many a person left the forums because of his attitude to them. One of his biggest issues was that of people having a different opinion on fixing issues in TSC, then he would get stuck into them, me included. He actually forced me to leave UKTS.
