The ICE 2 is a high-speed train used by Deutsche Bahn on long-distance routes across Germany. Built between 1995 and 1998, it can reach speeds of 280 km/h (174 mph) and is designed to split into two shorter trains, allowing it to serve multiple destinations efficiently. Nurnburg - Ingolstadt is set in 2017, making this ICE train perfect for the era in which it is set. During the era, the ICE2 primarily operated the ICE25 service, which ran hourly from Hamburg to Munich, along the Nurnburg Ingolstadt line. Unlike the classic ICE 1 which uses two power cars at both ends, the ICE 2 features a single front power car (BR 402) and a specialized cab control car (BR 808) at the rear, changing how reversing and driving operations feel. This ICE train can easily layer into Multiple other german routes already in game, such as Kassel Wurzburg and Koln Aachen adding more variety to the overall ICE stock in the game. Overall, this would be a very solid DLC for Nurnburg Ingolstadt and a much needed addition to the German side of TSW.
more ICE is good, but they could add more detail to it, from operational standpoint... like maybe add stuff like entering PZB/LZB data (which is one of my fav features from expert DLCs) or stuff like that
i’d prefer the ice3neo or ice4, the ice2 seems quite similar to the ice1, but at the end of the day i’ll be happy with any new variant. the ice3 ran its race years ago and it’s a massive shame that it’s being reused as the main loco for a route in august 2026. it came out in 2020 for goodness sakes. only one other ICE since then isn’t good enough
