I just had a thought, I don’t think dovetail games will do this but I would really love to see the Gwr network in TSW! With tfw trains and freight trains too! Again I don’t think this would happen but I would really love for this to happen!
I’m suggesting they create all the routes of the Gwr network, including AI transport for Wales trains and freight trains if they can
In one go or in sections, if in sections, then what sections where, what motive power for what section, if you mean in one go, you're having a laugh.
I assume the OP literally wants everything over which GWR operate presumably including across to Portsmouth, across the Cotswolds to Hereford etc. It would take years to build all that and bring TSW to its knees... At best, we might get another section added at some point, logically being Reading east towards Bristol TM or Cardiff but that in itself would be a huge undertaking. In terms of a smaller network, the only really suitable area would be something like a Bristol Local - Weston SM, Severn Beach, Bristol Parkway and maybe out to Bath (Westbury even would be pushing it).
Yeah I was thinking of suggesting that they do it in sections rather than all in one go, starting small and then building it up to the whole gwr network, if that’s possible? Over time building all the gwr routes if that’s makes sense? Also what do you mean by OP?
A Great Western route I'd like to see would be part of the Reading - Taunton line as far as Westbury. Reading to Taunton is 97 miles so I think that's a bit much. However, to make up for liniarity, the line from Southcote Jn to Basingstoke could be included, or rather should. I'll post the a full explantation of this route in a new thread Route - Gwml: Reading To Westbury + Basingstoke | Dovetail Games Forums
Or what if they could do is do separate routes to start off with, for example, London to Cardiff, then maybe Cardiff to Swansea and then overtime merging them making it London Paddington to Swansea? That could be a good way to start??
Do you actually know what routes are in the game and what distances are managable, because I can confindently tell you that London to Cardiff (which is 131 miles) won't happen becuase, one the route would be way too long, and the London to Reading section already exists Cardiff to Swansea is slightly more reasonable but there has never been a route merger before, and London to Swansea is borderline impossible to make as one route. I'm not tryna be mean and am sorry if I've offended you but your suggestion is so monumental that I'm curious how much you actually know about the game
No it’s fine, I don’t really know much about the game but maybe they could do it in a different game or sometime in the future
The simple fact is that while it's technically not impossible to do, it would simply take forever to finish and there would be no time to focus on anything else, the entire GWR network has a total route length of 1241 miles, I can't word how long that would take to recreate in game. Also, again, not trying to sound to negative, but I don't think DTG would make a whole new game just to solely focus on GWR's entire network.
You'll have to be patient, the pace of DLC releases for TSW is quite slow after all... I'm not sure there will be as much content for TSW as there was for TSC (assuming the lifespan is the same)...
I wouldn't call it slow, I'd call it inconsistent, the amount of releases we got in March was more close together than normal, and last year, Cardiff City Network, TTTE visit the WSR and the dutch route all released inside the space of a week
Not to mention that fans of other bits of the UK network would be looking at TSW22 before we saw anything that wasn't part of the GWR network. Plus SWT recently entered a licensing agreement with DTG, so that would have been a waste of time. Best to find a section of a route or a smallish network of routes that could be made within the annual product cycle.
