    Hello folks,

Thursday, August 6th at 6 pm UTC, we will preview the upcoming Schnellfahrstrecke Nürnberg - Ingolstadt route Add-On.

If you have any questions, please post them here. We will gather your questions beforehand, but please understand that we might not be able to answer all of them.

To make things run smoothly, please use this thread for questions related to the new route only.

After the preview stream, we will timestamp the VOD on YouTube, post a summary of the questions and answers, and close the thread, as it will have served its purpose by then.

Looking forward to seeing you in chat!

    All the best,
    Jan

Will the included rolling stock on route DB BR 101, with carriages and a München Nürnberg Express cabin, as well as the DB BR 403 ICE 3, support the suspension function? Which rolling stock will be included in the additional timetable layer, and which of them will support the suspension function?

Why not extend ot to Munich? Would that be too complex for route building or timetable?

I know the next article will explain which trains are included but, for each train, there's some improvement? Especially on the audio for the oldest one.

As some of the British routes finally seem to make some progress regarding bluriness, will this one benefit from the lessons learned as well? Could the texture optimizations be implemented already?

What is the LAMPOIL factor here? As someone who has already culled many of the German routes from the collection, what makes this an essential purchase?

On the article, it mentions S-Bahn services but nothing else. What trains will run these and will they be included? And if it is the 442, is it the Köln Aachen one or the Dresden-Leipzig one.

According to some screenshots, it was the Köln-Aachen one which is really off-putting.

How many passenger train journeys (excluding empty and shunting services) can be experienced in conductor mode? In particular, will it be possible to work as a conductor on the München-Nürnberg-Express or even on intercity/intercityexpress trains?

Why was the 442 not included? I mean, most German rail fans will have it, but if anything that's a reason to include it.

Without it, players can't serve almost all the stops before the high speed line, including the spur to Feucht. As I say it's not going to affect me too much, but I think it would be a more complete product for someone buying their first German route.

It'd surely reduce the addon mounting issue, and it'd be nice to see the unit with the S-Bahn Nurnberg logo.

What improvements have been made to the ICE? Will it show the correct PZB indicators that the current ICEs are missing (apart from the Köln/Mannheim one)?

Were improvements made to the layered-in BR 442 from Köln-Aachen?

Also, does the SKA 442 have LZB? It will need it to run the hourly S5 services, which run to the Allersberg, the first stop on the HSL.

I don't believe any 442s were actually fitted with LZB even though they have the switch. I think matt said it in a stream one time.

Is the non-expert 101 a simplified version of TSG's expert 101? And if this is the case, were switches or breakers for the safety system added so we can easily activate them?

At MÜNEX there’s an Apmmz coach included will this one also be added later for free for people who bought the 101 Expert pack? From what I can tell, it seems to be just a repaint that’s different from the IC coach. So will we get an IC version as well?

the OG 101 is different... it has those fictional Sifa, PZB and LZB switches on the back wall... what I am curious about tho is how the non-expert 101 cab car will be like... and I am confused by some wording in the article about the route:

"Players who own the Expert DB BR 101 & IC Steuerwagen Loco Add-On, available separately, can use its full Expert feature set with the included München-Nürnberg-Express formation. This extends to the cab car, with the same detailed fault functionality as the Expert IC cab car, alongside simulated batteries and train line power that will need to be managed throughout your journey."

like, if I own the Expert 101, does it default to the expert 101 when I drive that loco, or will I still have the option to choose between 101 and Expert 101 (and non-expert cab car and expert cab car)... will they have separate timetables or will it automatically select expert consist if I have Expert Mode On?

dont get me wrong, I love the Expert 101, it is absolutely phenomenal achievement, but due to my OCD/anxiety I hardly turn it on (also cos you need to calculate the BrH and such almost every time, tho it can repeat itself), so I hope there will be the option to select both non-expert 101 and its cab car

edit: the default rolling stock on this route includes both non-expert 101 (speaking of this, will it be a different version of the non-expert 101 that is a separate DLC?) and the non-expert cab car? or only non-expert 101?

Wasn't a BR 112 with a WiKo cab car used to operate the S5 before the 1440? If so, that could explain a few of the required layers.

The article mentions the content required for all the layers, but could you elaborate what you get with each layered route? Both driveable and AI?

What sorts of scenarios are included in the route?

If you have Expert Mode on in settings, is there a way to set the likelihood of the expert level faults in the BR 403? Will there be any demos or tutorials on how to address them? Similarly for the new settings you can change on the brake computer?

If you have the BR 101 Expert installed and substitution enabled it will automatically substitute the standard BR 101 that is included with the route always. You can still pick the standard BR 101 if you are driving from the BR 101, but if you want to drive the cab car and you don't want the BR 101 Expert at the rear you will need to disable loco substitution.

As for how the MüNeX cab car and coaches behave: if Expert Mode is enabled and the BR 101 Expert is at the rear (see above) then the cab car behaves exactly like the Bpmmbdzf 286.1 that is included with the BR 101 Expert in terms of Expert features. Same behaviour for the safety systems (on by default), fault simulation etc.

So DTG, does this look like a good time to actually go back and update the BR 403 in the other routes that come with one to this version of it? Or are we going to be entering year 2030 with seven different BR 403s with different levels of features/brokenness?

The Expert loco concept seems to be working pretty well with TSG, what with actually updating a single piece of stock to be working correctly, regardless of where it's placed on German soil, (and if a problem is found, it means there IS a serious problem in either the stock or the route). So the excuse of "we'd need to test the updated 403 to see if it'd work in e.g. Muenchen" really doesn't work. Or better, yes, it does, and if the further refined 403 now doesn't work in Muenchen that means there's some longstanding fundamental fuckup in the latter.

    Is there an announcement system?
Are there sections where speeds reach 300 km/h?
Which vehicle models can be used?

We now know about the ICE and Talent trains, but what I’d be interested in is the following.
What other locomotives or trains will be included in the timetable?

    I have some questions:

    1. What year is the timetable based on?
    2. Are there any substitutions that are not mentioned in the article?
I'm thinking Expert BR 145 and 147 at the moment, but could be more.
    3. Is it possible to drive the Journey Mode services with the Expert 101 instead of the Normal 101 that comes with the route?
The previous post by cwf.green seems to indicate it will, but I would want to be 100% sure.

No. The included BR 101 is a copy of the standard BR 101. It has had some changes to it to make it more compatible with the MüNeX cab car (mostly to make the slip indicator work as per the prototype so that you can see if the locomotive is slipping from the cab car). For all intents and purposes it's identical to the standard BR 101 except for the weathered livery.

Yes there are announcements. Yes most of the route is 300 km/h (close to Nürnberg & Ingolstadt the speeds are lower). The route comes with the MüNeX cab car, ICE3 and the standard BR 101 as drivable vehicles.

You can of course disable Expert mode and drive the cab car without the usual Expert features (even with the BR 101 Expert installed) if you so please. One difference on the MüNeX cab car vs the IC Expert cab car is that if Expert mode is disabled or the train behaves as non-expert (no BR 101 Expert at the rear) you can toggle the safety systems off and on with the usual keybinds and both the cutoff valves and electrical switches will be set automatically. I still wouldn't recommend doing this while on the move though :D

    1. 2017.
    2. I can confirm that the BR 145 Expert does substitute on the freight services (you can select it in the menu) as well as many of the other standard freight locomotives, but note that the freight services are quite short (< 10 minutes) since they don't use the SFS and therefore go off map.
    3. For the timetable services in the journey mode, to my knowledge, the BR 101 Expert should substitute automatically if you have it installed, just as with the normal timetable mode. For the scenarios the included (non Expert) BR 101 is used.

I can confirm that the ICE 3 that is included in the DLC substitutes on Kassel-Würzburg (both the original timetable as well as the Expert timetable included in the BR 101 Expert Kassel-Würzburg gameplay pack). It does not substitute on Frankfurt-Fulda, Frankfurt S-bahn or München-Augsburg at this time. These routes have substitution disabled for the ICE 3 services. This may change in the future (for example the Frankfurt-Fulda Expert timetable is something we control) but I have nothing to announce at the moment.

"while Route Hopping provides further opportunities to connect Schnellfahrstrecke Nürnberg - Ingolstadt with your wider Train Sim World collection"

which routes will this be able to route hop to seeing as neither nurnberg nor ingolsadt are present in any other routes?

    Good morning everyone,

Thank you for all your questions and joining the livestream last night! I will close this Q&A thread now, but feel free to continue discussions in the relevant threads.

    Timestamped VOD

    Questions
    • Will the included rolling stock have suspension physics?
      • No
    • Why was the route not extended to Munich?
      • This would have been a massive extension, roughly doubling the route length and adding multiple stations. This was unfortunately not in scope.
    • What kind of improvements, especially regarding audio, for the rolling stock were made?
      • DB BR 403
      • Overhauled physics, including amperage limit simulation
      • Reworked eddy current brake
      • Newly designed Zugbremsmanager (train brake manager)
      • Improved AFB simulation
      • Air suspension simulation for Simugraph
      • Updated and expanded cab screens
      • New traction motion sounds
      • New horn sounds
    • Does this route benefit from the recent optimisations regarding blurry textures?
      • While the recent optimisations don't affect this route specifically, it is built to the known TSG standards and feedback regarding blurry textures during testing has been very good. Still, this is a core issue that continues to be worked on.
    • Why did you want to make this route?
      • Corin wanted to work on a German high-speed with a 300 km/h speed limit. While there are other routes in Germany, only the LIDAR data for Nürnberg Ingolstadt was available when this project was started.
    • What trains will run the S-Bahn Services?
      • The Köln-Aachen DB BR 442
    • Does this route feature conductor mode?
      • No
    • Why was the Nürnberg BR 442 not included?
      • The S-Bahn was not an initial part of this project and was added later in development. This pushed creating a distinct train out of scope.
    • Does the Köln Aachen 442 have LZB?
      • No, but the S-Bahn route does not use LZB
    • Was the layered Köln-Aachen BR 442 improved?
      • No
    • How many freight train services are available and from where to where?
      • No freight services in the timetable, but there is a freight-centric scenario
    • Will there be a manual for handling ICE failures?
      • No
    • Which driveable and AI services are added with layers?
      • Schnellfahrstrecke Kassel - Würzburg
      • Niddertalbahn
      • Bahnstrecke Leipzig - Dresden
      • Schnellfahrstrecke Köln - Aachen
      • Stuttgart - Heilbronn
      • Maintalbahn
      • Frankfurt - Fulda
    • What scenarios are included?
    • Five services in total, including one where you race another BR 403, based on a real world event.
    • Can the likelihood of expert faults be set for the BR 403?
    • No
    • Could the different BR 403 versions be consolidated into one to create a unified quality standard?
    • Do trains on this route feature announcements?
    • Yes
    • Are there sections where you can reach 300 km/h?
    • Yes, there is also a scenario built around this premise.
    • What trains will be driveable?
    • DB BR 403, MÜNEX, EXPERT DB BR 101, Regular DB BR 101, BR 294, BR 185, BR 111, Wittenberger Cabcar, BR 442, ICE-T, DB BR 401
    • What year is the timetable based on?
    • 2018
    • Are there any other substitutions not mentioned in the article?
    • No
    • Can Journey Mode services be driven with the Expert 101 instead of the normal one?
    • No, but with Expert settings enabled the cabcar will be.
    • Will the updated ICE also layer onto other routes?
    • On release, it will layer onto Kassel - Würzburg
    • How long is the route?
    • 95 Kilometers, including the S-Bahn section.
