The introduction of a coach mode on European Truck Simulator (ETS2) is fascinating as - going by the teaser videos - it starts to overlap with train simulations. I was particularly struck by their "passenger satisfaction" metric, which will be important for the rewards drivers receive. It has also been a bit unrealistic in TSW (and even TSC) that driving dangerously, braking hard, and giving an uncomfortable ride for passengers has no real downside. Even missing stations does not prevent a good score at the end - which is mad. Any driver who sailed through a station in real life would be in serious trouble. So the ETS2 passenger satisfaction system promises to be very interesting and maybe something that Dovetail should consider for TSW?
It would be better to fix the passenger system first before they add new things. Its extremely buggy the way how passengers behave at the moment in game. So no not a good suggestion in think.
I would support their introduction once the issue of passengers running wild has been brought under control. First, I would like to see bugs—such as those causing accidents involving people—fixed. Collisions occurring every day are tragic.
While it's a good idea at its core, I have to agree with my jesper2805 and hiromaru that the passenger system itself would need a major overhaul before adding any new things. Right now it's my biggest gripe with TSW and the biggest immersion breaker, to the point I started preferring freight services more and more lately.
It’s also a little different on a train where the driver has little or no interaction with the passengers. Bus or coach driving is also more likely to result in clumsy handling than driving a train as you don’t have to deal with imprecise joypad inputs or in the case of OMSI 2 driving with the mouse because controller support is LOVE. Though I do like some of the comments the OMSI passengers make if you brake sharply or go over a speed bump too fast, but again the driver is right in there with the passengers.
