    Hi All,

I'm in the process of doing a mod for the NS Big 7 pack, but I have virtually no scripting experience - so it got me thinking, I'd use AI to assist, which could be classed as the first TS classic mod to be created, assisted by AI. My main question is, do you think it's ok for a newbie to use AI to modify engines and stock? What are your thoughts?

Basically it's going to be like an enhancement - it'll use the Searchlight 7FDL sound pack and searchlight style flares, along with heavily modifying engine physics to make them somewhat prototypical within the limitations of the sim. Not too easy to drive, but not too difficult either.

    Stay tuned.

AI is so prevalent these days in all aspects of creative and (non creative) software that I would be surprised if it hasnt been used somewhere to assist in creation of products for TSC somewhere along the line.

I realize for some people AI is quite a divisive topic but if it allows you to create and do things that otherwise you couldnt I think thats exciting and I think like any tool its down to the wielder how it is used.

AI will give you an ‘average’ result. It is designed to use statistical analytics. If you want something special then you will need to understand the code yourself and then tweak until you get what you want.

I think the main thing I really want to do is just change sounds and upgrade lighting on American stock really. Anything custom LUA is totally out of AI‘s scope It seems

In a way I can see it being quite divisive as well because there are content creators out there that put in a lot of work and Along comes someone with very minimal coding experience and they can create an enhancement pack basically through AI

I mean, it could help people with no coding experience, but it takes a lot of tinkering

The only thing I can really do is just change horns

Ok, so long story short, the mod is uploaded in a WIP state over on trainsim community. However I have received a bit of criticism regarding the use of AI to assist, which honestly, i get given that people work hard on mods.

If you want to give it a try, cool, but also understand if not.

    Feedback welcome.

Dont let people get you down, I bet you learnt a ton doing what you have.

Why should you be made to feel bad for doing exactly what the big companies are doing including the one that produces this title.

It was basically done to see what could be achieved. The human element of it involved a lot of testing

Personally, I think it turned out quite well
