I saw in the FAQ that there are currently no plans for a boxed copy of Train Sim World 7. I really hope Dovetail will reconsider this. Train Sim World 6 originally released in September 2025, while the physical PS5 version did not arrive until March 2026. So a boxed version of TSW7 would not necessarily have to release at the same time as the digital version. Dovetail could do the same again and release it several months later. I would also like to suggest a physical Deluxe Edition as a limited edition. This would be a great option for collectors and dedicated TSW players who want more than the Standard Edition. It could include the Deluxe content, special cover artwork and perhaps some physical extras. Most importantly, it should contain the actual game and as much content as possible on the disc, rather than only being a download code inside a box. Many console players still prefer having a physical copy for their collection and do not want everything to depend entirely on the PlayStation Store and digital licences. I have spent thousands of euros on Train Sim World routes and locomotives over the years, and I want to keep supporting the game, but I am not comfortable with a completely digital-only future. I understand that most DLC will still be digital and that a disc cannot protect everything, but at least it gives players a physical copy of the base game and a choice in how they buy it. Please consider releasing both a boxed Standard Edition and a physical Deluxe Limited Edition of Train Sim World 7 at a later date, even if they are only available in selected regions or in smaller production numbers. I would also like to ask other console players who still want a physical release to reply and make their voices heard. If enough of us show that there is still demand for a boxed edition, perhaps Dovetail will reconsider. I would rather wait several months and buy TSW7 on disc than be forced to buy it digitally.
I think DTG could better invest their money in fixing the outstanding issues that still remains in the game.
I totally agree with you, but instead of releasing dozens of DLC's, they can release less and spend the money on improvements, fixing and physical release.
I wonder if physical copies haven't sold well enough to justify it this time. Plus, Sony announced an end to all physical game discs as of 1/2028, which may also be a factor.
True, that was because the launch of TSW6 didn't go so well since the complaints of the core issues that are not fixed since earlier titles releases. If there was still a physical release, than at least it will be the final physical release with the DB BR 440 in the core routes.
