I dont think there has been a thread yet, set up for the future romanian route, so i guess I'll create one

Any mods on here, feel free to merge it with an existing one if it exists.

But TSW is coming to Romania, a brand new country for TSW, certainly interesting

I also found this on Facebook, it appears the route in question will be diesel.

    But fire away the discussion!

It would be nice to know which route they are doing. Hopefully in one of the more scenic parts of the country with some single line mountainside action. Maybe meet Count Vlad along the way…

If this comes to fruition it will likely be a Day One purchase. I just hope DTG haven’t jumped the gun a bit and done a Class 104 by going public, based on a couple of early editor screenshots. After all, wasn’t the Portugal route announced this time last year and we are still waiting…

I will 100% buy this route when it comes out as it's a new country and it opens the gates for more eastern european routes in TSW series.
Also it would look aesthetic doing a foggy run with panel buildings.

Some screenshots of the route on the roadmap stream.

Seems like my earlier prediction on it being diesel only were wrong.

The station screenshotted is on the line between Arad and Simeria

If this is the route, we are looking at around 100 MILES of track.

For a first route, this would be a monumental challenge.

I love to see this loco in the game, it would be a far relative to AEM-7 as both are based on ASEA electric locomotives.

If it would be, it's like extra long cause you have around 2hours from arad to simeria. But I would love this. From the photos it's looking really promising. Also cool that the Taurus is also playable. (at least an AI service?) Or is it an 182 from db? So cool to finally see romania in TSW. Hopefully in TSW 7 and not TSW 8 or 9 like what happend with Tadami line

There will never be a first route, launched by a new team in TSW, 100 miles or even 100 km. End the averments... :)

Liberec-Stara Paka was about 90km iirc, so 100km is perhaps not out of the question. However that was single track, if double track and bigger/more stations then I imagine it'll definitely need to be shorter

I don't think the number of tracks influences development time that much...

Without question, I will buy a route from the Slavic brothers - this is not even discussed, no matter what it turns out to be)

    Definite buy for me.

Getting to visit new countries is one of the best parts of TSW imo.

Liberec-Stara Paka is one of my fave TSW routes so i'm definitely excited to see more of eastern europe.

I personally don't care how long these new devs take to ramp up production as long as it doesn't become vaporware, and they keep up with newer core features.

I'd rather they didn't rush to meet some arbitrary deadline. Imo TSW 6, 7, 8, etc are all the same overall game of TSW- the annual versions are required for marketing purposes.

Yeah, I don't know really, my thinking was just:

more tracks = more traffic = probably a more complex TT

But maybe it's actually not that directly related

Considering the density of rail traffic in Romania overall, dont worry imagine a timetable that is busy. Here people are happy if the train actually arrives, and the concept of service patterns does not exist. There is no "train from A to B every x minutes/hours" services, although the authorities are finally looking into that kind of timetabling. So unless the devs make a fictional timetable, expect something like Maintalbahn density, but over a much less montainous mainline.

I really have my hopes in quality over quantity for this one.

We will most likely get one romanian loco, the 04x-EA class electric loco, and UIC style passenger coaches (looking at the screenshots), hopefully not just a second class one. That means the formations will be realistic for a the services that are interregional/intercity, and overkill for the regio services.

Freight will most likely be something coming as a layer using Vectron/1116/182/Traxx locos that were set up to run un multiple electric systems, since electrification is 25Kv AC. There is even a chance to get something for the 294, as there were similar size shunters brought in by DB Romania from Germany.

The safety system I wouldnt say is new, since any lines that are currently having a safety system use the older Indusi, not full PZB, there are ETCS pilots, but no rolling stock really supports that from what is in game.

You are right - they are related, since you have to factor in the signalling for the route and extras such as caternary, ect. But I don't think it's a linear relationship (i.e. 2x tracks = 2x work).

I had to make an account to reply to this :) . .] the locomotive that is unfinished is either a GM Class 64/65 upload_2026-9-1_17-33-12.png or a EGM Class 63/66 image_2026-09-01_173252469.png It is a bit hard for me to tell which one is it but by the slightly slimmer face and the position of its horns
i would put my money on the Class 63/66 (PHOTOS FROM :https://www.flickr.com/photos/desiro256/albums/72157638638776643/). What u see in the in game pics is Class 41-242 from Brasov Depot , an electric locomotive which is kind of infamous among trainspotters here, but we are getting the updated version without its emblem. So it seems like we are going to have a non-electrified part.

This Desiro train set will definitely be part of the timetable scenarios on the new route in Romania.

Are you a Romanian developer or is it just a guess?

I think most of the guys here are posting their wishes rather than what the devs are actually doing. What we know is in the screenshots from Dovetail Direct.

Anything else is just a distraction, and they dont even match the theme from the screenshots.

Why would they build a diesel mainline loco for an electrified route? - its only a 3d model, not ingame
Why would they provide a DMU for an electrified route? - you can get this from creators club already for the 642 and that is what the screenshot was created from.

Those things might come but I am fairly certain not for the first route, its a huge project already to develop a new country and a first set of rolling stock. I wouldnt take Vector Simulations Czech route as a benchmark for new countries, look at Japan or Portugal, you get a single train and a route. With the Romanian route you can get layers with foreign operators for freight which are not possible for the other two countries.

Had it been a branchline I could have seen a route centered on the 642 and 628 reskinned, as both operate here on branchlines and not only, with a diesel loco for freight operations and reused wagons. But that would not pretain to an exciting timetable. My city of 100K plus people sees a grand total of 24 departures in a day, in two different directions together, you wouldnt be able to sell that at a full addon price. That feels to me more like what a freeware addon dev could do, pure passion projefct, or multiple branches in one pack like the Thames Valley addon, for which we still need to see how successful it is over time.
