    Hi there,
TrainSimPlay has a Gamescom-interview with Lukas of DTG and TSG on YouTube. It's in German and touches on various things, so I've made a new thread instead of copypasting it all over the place.

    >>

    DTG-Lukas:
    ICE 4:
    - will have good sounds using techniques learned from the community, real-life drivers assisted, article about this may follow
    - will have almost all the named ones but not one name used by Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg because of its copyright
    - will be available as 12/13-car variants, the 7-car MAY follow later - the cars are too different
    - can do up to 265 km/h
    - will layer on Nürnberg-Würzburg (obv.), Kassel-Würzburg and Nürnberg-Ingolstadt are planned, other routes will probably get it later
    - Lukas hopes the ICE 4-timetable for Nürnberg-Ingolstadt will be ready at (regular, non-early access) TSW 7 launch
    - on Kassel-Würzburg it'll be in the expert 101 timetable, ideas on doing it non-expert are in discussion - no idea if or when that'll happen

    Nürnberg-Würzburg / BR 440:
    - chosen because it was often requested and offers good variation, Köln-Frankfurt would be ICEs only
    - has 19 stations in over 100 kilometers with everything from S-Bahn to freight and ICEs.
    - front area of the Nürnberg railway museum is included with lots of easter eggs
    - strange, rounded catenary at Nürnberg Steinbühl is included
    - they tried to find out the reason for it - noone could say
    - Lukas considers the 440 one of the best trains they've made, cooperating with real-life drivers, very accurate, more functionality than usual
    - it's one of his favourite trains in real life as a passenger, with 1440
    - it will be AI in Nürnberg-Ingolstadt
    - combo Vectron-Dosto-Dosto-Vectron at Nürnberg is included
    - Talent 2 will have the correct Nürnberg variant
    - ...and will be in Nürnberg-Ingolstadt as well
    - Additions at Nürnberg Hbf will be ported over to Nürnberg-Ingolstadt, including parts of Nürnberg skyline
    - ICE 1 has been upgraded including sounds (in coop with community), suspension etc. Is "now a well-rounded train". EDIT: Will come sometime after TSW 7 release

    Amsterdam - Den Haag:
    - Lukas loved the first NL route, but it was not that busy - this is different - Amsterdam Centraal very busy
    - Koploper is iconic, but VIRM is very impressive, "what I like about the Netherlands"
    - the plan was always to do a smaller route first, then go bigger
    - release date not known, he expects it "not too late"

    Romania:
    - can't talk about it yet, what he has seen looks very good

    Epic Settings:
    - Firefly of Medway fame led the way
    - now possible because of new options like DLSS / FSR / Frame Generation

    Temporary speed restrictions:
    - have been updated, no longer just 70 km/h
    - now as dynamic as they wanted it to be from the start

    TSG-Lukas:
    RailJet:
    - will be complete 1st generation train including cab car
    - sound is a priority because very iconic
    - uses the 1116. 1216 - quite a different loco, so not at this point
    - Lukas wanted it in as a fan of Vorarlberg and Semmering where it's clearly missing
    - these will get new timetables,
    - and Salzburg-Rosenheim will get it too
    - release date: "within TSW 7"

    Neckartalbahn:
    - almost done, TSG is now polishing
    - DLC V 100 / BR 212 will be time-appropriate, share duties with BR 218, lots of stuff to do
    - hopefully there'll be a timetable update for Niddertalbahn with the 212 and n-Wagen - no promises, though
    - route includes BR 23 steam engine, BR 140 in green properly backdated including the cab, m-Wagen 1. and 2. class in green and ocean-blue/beige, Silberlinge in their first version (almost completely silver) and four new freight wagons and an already existing one.
    - Another DLC will probably be a small KÖF engine - model is done, they're looking into how they can use it

Appreciate the write up. While noting the likely quality of the stock with the new German bundle route, if Neckar is imminent along with the 212 and the Dutch route reinforces my pretty much made decision to skip the TSW7 bundle and keep my Steam credit for this great lineup of upcoming releases.

He said it is. But the ICE 1 update probably won't be at the release of TSW 7, but will follow at a later point.
The dev who's doing the sounds said this at least about the sound update. So I suppose the physics update will also follow post-release.

Hi, Thank you very much for the interview. Not your first time you did this and I really appreciate it. Just wanted to thank you for. One question I have about the updated ICE 1. Suspension, etc. okay are there also Announcements, Train faults. Like the whole pack as if it was a new train? Cause I wasn't sure if I understood Lukas correctly

    Hey all!

yes it was a long day! Ha, so I made some small errors, because I usually have plans etc in my head :D so yes, the ICE1 update didn’t make release, but it’s planned. I will ask the team to give an update about that next roadmap. But it’s nice that we are now working so actively with some modders :)

The German steam route will definitely be my first foray into German content at this rate! Can't wait to see what they've cooked up!

The ICE 4 is Running almost every Hour between Frankfurt Hbf and Fulda with stopping there for a new Expert Timetable, because You Said otherwise about Fulda stopping
Because it replaced the ICE 1 on This Lines

"hopefully there'll be a timetable update for Niddertalbahn with the 212 and n-Wagen - no promises, though"

So, Neckartalbahn will be the "home" route for the 212?

You Can easy Change the year
Because the new RE50 is still not in Service from Alstom
You Need only Change the ICE 1 to the 412 Version

The Community want the ICE 4 on many Routes, we don’t Need another timetable as the previous timetable from 2018

I´ll say it again. We need matching timetables for the three Kassel to Ingolstadt routes and for Fulda-Frankfurt. I assume the Kassel-Ingostadt connection is working out if they are adjusting the timetables?

I´ve held off on TSG content the past years, but this would be a reason to buy the expert 101 + gameplack pack and Ingolstadt to Nürnberg.

Lukas has confirmed and he is willing to look in to it. My reaction was not meant to say it won't come it's more there must be a suitable solution and that takes a bit more time. And its not so simple to replace the ICE1. The substitution is a bit more difficult due to different lengths between the ICE1 and 4. The system does not allowed 1 to 1 replacement with different lenghts

What do you mean? There is no timetable for 2025 on FTF. So then they have to build a whole new one.... That's a huge job I don't think this will happen.

Is it known if unit 9457 "Bundesrepublik Deutschland" will include the germany-flag stripe across the whole unit, or if the name has been excluded for that reason instead?

If they would do this, probably through a gameplaypack like the ICE 3 raillbow during TSW 3

That would kind of suck and not make much sense to be honest.

Those aren't as significant. The green stripe was temporary and across numerous units, and the mask was just during the COVID-19 pandemic and not forever.

The recommended hardware requirements for Epic settings only gets you 4k, 30-60fps with upscaling and frame gen enabled? What's that in reality then, 1440p 15-30fps?

I really can't understand this, why not release a new game when everything is ready. It's the same with the new lighting for console and texture optimization is still on the roadmap for later. Why this way with doing things half, for once DTG, come with a fully working product with everything in place, properly tested and working, instead of half baked and rushed.

May I say that this response feels somewhat exaggerated? Look at what is being delivered. And nothing has been rushed the decision was simply made not to release everything at once. This reaction comes across as rather childish. If the game were released six weeks after the announcement, you would likely complain again: ‘Why isn’t it finished on time?’ It is, frankly, slightly immature.

As for the ‘Enhanced Lighting’, as I mentioned earlier, people immediately turned it into a whole spectacle. The PC is simply the most powerful platform to test it native with a larger group, after which it can be adapted for the slightly weaker consoles. Consoles do not natively reach the capabilities of a PC, and game development always takes place on a PC. I believe that, in the end, it actually benefits you that we test this on PC, so that you receive a solid and well‑refined result.

The only "we" that should be "testing" is DTG.

Exaggerated, childish, inmature? Men come on. After all the problematic releases and the outstanding issues like blurry textures and many issues with routes which never has been addressed, I think it's more then fair to ask for a good and complete product.

If they just announce a release date when the products are well tested and ready for release, no one will complain about delayed releases anymore. But it's the marketing to create hype which is causing issues and the tight development schedule. For example, no 1st class coaches on Semmeringbahn, because they run out of time, the cut of the route on Cardiff City Network, because they run out of time, and after release they never did anything to solve it.

And please stop the LOVE about testing the lighting on PC first. The only place where DTG needs to test this, is on the consoles themself.

    Do as I do.
I won't buy the Nuremberg-Würzburg route until the ICE 1 train meets the requirements for a TSW7 DLC.
The patch will arrive a week later.
Okay, I'll buy it a week later.
The patch will arrive in three months.
Okay, I'll buy it in three months.
    And so on.
It's the only way...also because "Verba volant, scripta manent"...
It's 40 euros in the end.

Mate… relax. Go for a walk or do something else for a moment. This overheated reaction goes a bit too far. The old‑fashioned console‑versus‑PC debate has become ‘nice and lively’ again… Cool down and accept that the PC is simply getting a bit more this time. You always receive the newest things a few hours earlier anyway. We PC players don’t make a fuss about that, and the world doesn’t end because of it it’s just a game.
