I feel like an idiot now. So I originally played and finished the game on PS4 with all trophies. My PS5 came in the mail and I downloaded this game to see what timetables I was missing out on. Turns out in one of Thomas's timetables you have to turn him around with the turntable. In the turntable thread I said "I feel turntables are underutilized" because his timetable didn't make you do this on PS4. https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/turntables.98784/ That was before I had a PS5. I facepalmed when I found out his timetable does make you do this on PS5. Now I'm debating if I should delete the PS4 version on my PS4 and just play the PS5 one. Note that this means I will end up with two platinum trophies of this game. This is my fault for taking so long to buy a PS5.
I've only played on the PS5, and on the 4K settings the game looks amazing. I'm not sure if the PS4 version also offered the higher fidelity visuals, but with the most recent update I find the game is running really smoothly and looking great. I've found myself using photo mode more and more, as with all the great visuals there are so many photogenic moments that pop up naturally as you play!
Personally, if I was in your shoes, I would back up my PS4 save to the cloud so you have that progress saved away in case you need it, and replay the game on PS5. I think it just performs better on the PS5 and it will be an enjoyable second playthrough with the upgraded visuals. When I'm playing the timetable modes, I usually stream it on Twitch, and there's at least a few people who end up watching! The Thomas fans are out there!
Yeah the save data will be backed up. But before I move on to the PS5 I want to finish Emily's timetable on PS4. Looking forward to playing the game again with a more powerful console.
The locomotives do actually still use the turntables when you're playing on a console with the reduced timetables, those movements are just AI only so if you stick around after a service ends you can watch or ride on the footplate while the turn is made. Not as fun as driving it but it's nice that you can still see the turntables in use during timetable mode if you want.
Yeah I'm aware that the AI uses it. That's how I found out how Thomas got to the other side of Annie & Clarabel. By watching him. Then later I startled a James timetable and waited at Knapford to see how Gordon does it.
