Sounds about right for Euros. The bottom line being, if you buy the route and additional train without going Deluxe, it will cost more than the usual price for a two train DLC. Unless of course DTG do offer some sort of mini bundle.

They said they won't make any regional bundles this time, so if you buy individually you will pay the full price for a route plus a loco DLC.

Well that definitely relegates it to a sale, then.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on how DTG have modelled the 333 front? Seen a few comments elsewhere that the cab looks slightly flat, light clusters aren’t accurate and destination box is on the wrong side. Hope some of these issues are ironed out before release.

They also weren't doing regional editions for TSW6 if you recall, the safe bet is that once the free starter pack is removed after the 2/3months they'll drop the three regional editions... Just like last year.

As this route is from DTG could I presume that it will not have the same level of railway infrastructure that the third party developers provide? For example, no cable trunking, nothing connected up. From the limited screenshots, it's hard to know. Perhaps someone here has seen more of the route. It spoils the immersion if the basics of a railway are missing. I wished DTG would copy what Just Trains and others provide.

Mileposts too, especially if Rivet have been involved as a sub contractor.

JT, ATS and AABS…alongside the solo dev who made Mildmay have collectively put DTG to shame when it comes to high-end route building.

At first as I heard the announcement for this route I thought: oh no, not again a TSC-route. After a little while I thought: well for TSW its a good choice because we get several little drivable lines which is on one side really nice to give some variety and some meaningful endpoints. At least it feels better than the Cardiff network.

But then I get concerned. We get again a US, a UK and a GER route. DTG also announced a second US route by them (Bergen Line). And the dutch route is also from them? I dont believe that they had so much time to build 5 routes. okay three should be relatively finished because they are the core routes. But then we have to keep in mind, in the background they soon will start certainly with the plans for TSW8.
Last year DTG announced beside the core routes also a second US route made by them (NY-Stamford). And one of the core routes was the Rivera. And here I came to my concerning point. The Rivera has a specific thing that is characteristic for one specific developer. And this developer downright vanished some time ago when it comes to route building.
And one already had one particular question in mind:
I am concerned too how much Rivet Games is involved in making this route. Because most, or even all of the routes Rivet has made (or was involved) had the characteristic that some stations you can only teleport to another platform! HELLO? We have Train Sim World - one characteristic of this game is, that you can walk! Walking along platforms, through wagons, into loco. And what do they? They place teleporters on platforms to beam you to the other platform instead they made it possible you can walk over!!! Why? What they think to do this like that? And excat this is also existing on the Rivera which gives me the clear indication they was involved at least in bilding the stations. And when I look back what UK routes came in the past 1-2 years, DTG hadn´t done much ones, all others are from JT and All Aboard and the Rivera ... well at least in parts as it looks is done by Rivet. So I am now really concerned what we no got presented here.
Its even annoying enough by other developers and DTG itself if there are some stations where you cant get even to the exit of a station building, which I already couldnt understand why not. But this teleporters are the most wretched thing I´ve seen in TSW (beside some weird
concrete slabs which protruding into the track profile at one of the big stations of the Midland Mainline route - which by the way never got fixed as I know).

ehm, not depening this annoying teleporters on platforms which destroys immersion

Well if that is the worse thing about the route then they can't have done a bad job.

I doubt there is a route released which doesn't have some annoying inconsistencies or foilbles.

Rivet Games seems to be living rent free in several members of the communities heads. I agree in the past their content hasn't always been up to scratch but lately it has been much better and I can find little wrong with the Riviera route and it seems to have gone down very well.

As ever I shall wait to see what this route looks like from Youtube videos before purchasing.

Do not forget, not every TSW player has TSC, some may never have bought it or some have stopped using it, so for many it matters not if it has been released before in TSC. If they only released routes which weren't featured in TSC they would start to run out of content fairly quickly, we wouldn't have any ECML, WCML, BML, Riviera, Fife Circle etc, etc.

DTG haven't built their own UK routes since Goblin (Suffragette), Rivet appear to be 'lead developer' for at least 2 DTG branded routes per year, Milton Keynes and Cardiff for TSW5, Riviera and Stamford for TSW6. I fully expect Rivet are building Airedale and probably the Bergen Line.

This appears largely because where DTG used to have 3 teams making 2 routes per year (so 6 routes), at least one of those teams moved across to work on the UE5 project Metro Rivals, which is the training ground for developing the UE5 replacement for TSW, so I fully expect less and less TSW routes from DTG themselves.

I personally think Rivet have come a long way over recent years, but their reputation on these forums continues to drag on them, so it's not surprising to see them function more as a second party.

caught this in the route description of the preview stream

"We will be showcasing the game live on a console at a future point, ahead of Early Access on September 10th 2026."

Oh dear, This doesnt sound like a good sign...

Matt actually confirmed during his charity stream that Riviera was entirely Rivet. Literally all of it. DTG only did the 220 as far as I know.

Well that will be an Xbox Series X then, I'm led to believe you can't load non retail stuff on a retail PS5. Unless Dovetail have managed to finally get themselves a PlayStation development kit.

It still is, you haven't noticed the coupler disappears in photo mode. (granted not the biggest or even a game breaking bug, but still)

It may be misleading because of 2 things I can think of.

    1. They are using a dev kit which we know has more active RAM and therefore the blurry textures will be hidden. As proven in other streams and the fact that was an excuse for not noticing the texture issues during testing.

    2. If they are using a retail unit the older content is not available until the 15th so
it will just be the base route with no active layers from any other DLC. Again hiding the blurry texture issue.

I think it was an All Aboard Studios route that had an Xbox preview, middle of the day when service frequency was lowest, no other trains in sight, all seemed ok but upon release lots of reports of blurry textures.

If this preview is done at peak time with all layers installed then that's a great way to reassure console players, if it's another ghost town trip then we'll know they are hiding problems from us.

For me it’s nothing but red flags when they do something odd like “we aren’t going there”, “we fancied some fog” & “it looks nice at 6am sunrise” etc.

It’s always the same thing too, claims of not hiding anything followed by a release which displays issues in the circumstances they conveniently avoided.

In any case though unlike WCML, this route has a pretty full on TT at a consistent pace all day, so it will be more difficult to find a quiet time.

I've asked a question too in the Q&A about night lighting. Leeds/Bradford is a conurbation that should be awash with real and ambient light pollution as far as the eye can see. More so with the built up hilly terrain. They need to show us real progress in this area.

Is it laziness on DTG and Rivets' part or have they never observed what the real track side looks like on an actual UK railway? I will be watching the preview stream with interest, if it's missing the infrastructure I will give the standard, deluxe and ultimate a miss this time around. I was hoping that JT's Cumbrian Coast would be TSW7's UK route.

Actually on that point the class 158's are different because unlike the current 158's both the new tfw 158 and northern are Perkins not Cummins engines and will have operator spec fitouts to reflect there individual designs

not quite true, the TFW 158 is a Perkins unit but the Northern set (both 2 and 3 car) are shown as Cummins engined (158754 and 158797 on the screenshots)

JT is a third party, so their routes won’t be a core release.

If A&W is poorly built, it would put me right off a day one purchase. If only loco DLCs were available separately, then I’d happily grab the 331 for MAC and the 333 for the bay platform at Donc.

Genuine question will the 331/333 replace the 323 on the Doncaster to Peterborough route seeing as the 323 was just there as a stand in for said EMUs?

It should be an easy substitution since they're both electric and the 331 has a 3 car variant

It will be interesting to see if they have remembered to put the mileposts in place which I’m fairly certain are still missing on Cardiff City.

Right I'm back after my unjustly lengthy ban for mocking the overzealous censor system...

    [deleted the misunderstanding regarding Bradford]

Then look at the 333, it lives entirely on this route (Doncaster not withstanding) and yet it's being hidden behind a paywall just like the Pendolino was for the WCML. I mean, I despise Pendolinos but I still expect to have them show up on the WCML as that's where the rancid things live, to hide that behind a paywall was borderline criminal - with DTG's excuse being "well it's more for the 350 experience to MK". What exactly is their upcoming excuse for locking the 333 away given this route is the whole reason the real 333 was built?

Considering that the 333 also stretches its legs to Doncaster now perhaps that should've been included, so that all of the 333's short network could be explored, given that was only 20-odd miles, it really speaks volumes how DTG are leaving things short again, just like the mess that was Cardiff.

They've done it again too with the Florida route, cutting off the last 20 miles or so and ironically the more interesting part of the route. Once again ruining any possibility of proper end-to-end running and breaking players immersion with the crew change taking place in illogical locations :/

Spinning back to Leeds though, no doubt we are going to have the same problems as before with the ultra-shiny ballast when it rains, badly laid ballast to start with (though after diving into Cardiff yesterday for the first time in years I noticed that they had been quite good at blending the ballast that is part of the track model with that of the floor area around the track so that you didn't get that god awful eyesore).

Then there's the layers, Leeds is going to be painfully empty unless you splash out for the 333 and later podgy 158, I say "podgy" because at the screenshots I've seen (in one of the videos) it appears to be wider and shorter in height. Hopefully that is just some effect of being squeezed into a video or something as I really want to support this 158 as I appreciate having the centre car as well as both the new and those far comfier classic seats.

Edited to remove the misunderstanding regarding Bradford :)

I think Phil is referring to Bradford Interchange which is a separate line from Leeds via Bramley and New Pudsey.
Bradford Forster Square is included in this route.

It's a different route no? No Skipton services go anywhere near it as far as I'm aware.

He couldn't be referring to the Interchange if he's referencing Skipton services.

My apologies folks, I was led to believe that Bradford was left out of the route - I had been unable to view the forums for several weeks due to the ban (and therefore not able to get proper information regarding the route other than scraping a few bits of info from YT videos and Facebook posts).

Same with the ICE4/412 on the German route. Despite its near silent driving experience from the cab, at least as evident on the stream, it is the train they are selling the rather bland route on. But once again hidden behind the Deluxe paywall and just the yet another suburban EMU (440) for the plebs who only want to buy the Standard edition. Oh and to get the best layers you also need the still full price Ingolstadt route.

I’m guessing the marketing department decided if they made the 333 the included EMU and dropped the 331 behind the paywall, no one would bother with the higher version. Guess you’ve got to hand them the Gordon Gecko award for cunning! :)

Which is why so far as I’m concerned the whole mundane mush of new content can wait until the inevitable 80% off sale next year and I’ll keep my money for Sheerness, Cumbrian Coast, the German steam route etc. etc.

I'm looking forward to this route with the usual cautious optimism. It's an interesting little network with plenty of service variations and from riding in real life, there are definitely some fantastic views. Generally Airedale has slightly better scenery but Wharfedale serves more upmarket areas. It's great to have Neville Hill included as a depot was sorely lacking from similar 'complete' routes like the Cross-City.

However, a lot will depend on the timetable(s) so I really hope they get this aspect right. The current weekday timetable has 18 formations in peak time (12 are 333s, 4 are 6 car 331s and 2 are 3 car 331s) which reduces off-peak to 13 formations (8 x 333s, 3 x 6 car 331s and 2 x 3 car 331s). This will make the route look fairly empty without the deluxe 333 and notice there are no 4 car 331s any more. If they only offer a prototypical timetable with more 331 workings than in real life, then I'm out as the 333 is the train of interest.

One solution would be to offer two timetables: a 331-only one where 4 car 331s substitute for the 333s, and the real-life one as outlined above. It would be even better to have a timetable set before they cut the off-peak Bradford to Skipton and Ilkley service to hourly (was that in 2023?) so the routes are busy all day.

I agree with this re Rivet. Personally I think their 377/3 and 171 units have been brilliantly crafted. The on board announcements are actually so good I keep petitioning to get them patched onto the 387/377/313 but to no avail

Going by the picture in post #22, there will be zero mileposts, cabling and other infrastructure. It will be nothing like the real railway trackside, more like going through the local park.
I cannot understand why the DTG ambassadors and people watching the preview streams don't bring this up. Why bother with PIS and announcements if the lineside looks so unreal?

Maybe I'm the odd one, but I prefer a BR 440 over an ICE, because of regional and S-bahn services are more fun to drive for me because of the stopping pattern. I also prefer the Class 331 over the 333, but I'm not from the UK so I have no connection at all with the Class 333, to be honest, in my opinion it's a ugly train ;)

You're totally right about the deluxe train and layer requirement for the German route, it makes the price for a full and busy route way to steep.

I'm looking forward to this route. I'm looking forward to the other UK routes too. And the live weather.

I was looking forward to the local music festival today and it was great, everything went well. I hadn't heard of any of the bands but I preferred not to assume they'd be a pile of rubbish before they were released on to the stage. Bumped into the mayor, she's asked me if I want co-ordinate our Pride music & arts festival next summer, I agreed.

Only positive vibes from here at the moment. TSW7 is going to be great. It's been a very good year in so many ways.

Same here I am too feeling positive both for TSW plus I also have some exciting musical going ons. I like the look of the German route and the UK route is looking very interesting. The American route doesn't seem that interesting but that's just personal choice. So with the DLC to come I am looking forward to the next few months.

There are some on this forum who will never be happy. You can easily spot them.

I really really hope the team have learnt from Cardiff City Commuter.

That there are full end to end journeys does give me hope they have. I'll be buying the route plus the 333.

I don't know why but knowing someone hates the Class 390 genually surprised me somehow.
