I'm not from Florida, having only been there a few times on holiday, but I think it doesn't look too bad. I mean, no floating cars, and with the palm trees, it has a nice vibe. For the sound, I'll leave it to you, but as a few people mentioned, I think it's okay or meh...
I am another resident of the tri-rail area. The route mainly runs west of the various conurbations in the area and therefore the trackside view is of warehouses, massive billboards, the I95 and semi-tropical vegetation. The stations are not especially interesting, with the exception of the iconic WPB station - which is not in the DLC! The route in real life is heavily freight dominated, but even that is not varied much. For a feel of the route, plonk yourself at one the many crossings and watch a mile of rockhopper wagons pass. Looks like nice rolling stock, it might be interesting if it covered the full route. With only 26 passenger services, however, all of them identical, regrettably - pass.
7 days to early access, live weather changes instantly and looks bugged. boy its going to be a LOOONG year...
Anybody else noticing the road traffic at crossings? They’re all over the crossings or blatantly ignoring them.
By the way BL36PH horn is pathetic. It's a kids toy, not a horn of a real US locomotive. You still have time to adjust the volume level and the distance. Will you? I'll keep asking the same question: why are you going to record sounds from real engines if you can't implement them properly in the game? Why is the horn and joint sounds in the game always so pathetic? What happens if you make it realistically loud (in-game proportions, of course) and give it more range? Will the world collapse into a black hole? Are you saving humanity by making pathetic horn and joint sounds?
This route is so broken.... Its everytime that i hear matt saying... "Yeah this something where team needs to look in to".... This addon is the yearly victum for lack of time.... Kinda like London Milton Keynes vibes....
Even though it was acknowledged and 'will be looked into', I think I will be sticking to TSW Route Annotations to handle my weather
- the menu is a bright light that burns your eyesockets out, the colours are inconsistent, its totally out of place. - live weather is bugged - passengers are STILL BUGGED. I picked up that they did a grand total of ONE fix for AI passengers. This is what they do, they promise and promise and promise, and they NEVER deliver, its the same repackage, same broken core features, same problems...
Yeah it's not good and yes that menu is worse. Please bring back the old colours from TSW6 they where way better
Yeah thats more a result of the streaming quality. The streaming quality is so bad you see mostly pixels and they choose to do 2 runs in bad conditions.
Yeah this route looks bad I'm gonna be honest. Definitely not worth £32.99 And I've just seen passengers in the depot again.... sigh
Glad I didn’t preorder, this really hasn’t evolved at all, my modded TSW6 was better and that’s saying something. This really is lacking in detail, live weather and weather transitions are awful, passengers not fixed! How long have we pleaded them to repair it? Parts of the route that won’t be available on release. Yet again, underdelivering, how is it so difficult to get a release right and all ready on day one. Preorders are just an extension of the beta team but you’re paying for the privilege! What a terrible letdown and sadly can’t say I’m surprised, the DTG Direct aimed to market it and sell it, this preview has just shelved it. Another rinse, recycle, repeat job!
Doesn’t sound very promising. I won’t be able to watch the stream until tomorrow, but this is sounding like “Strike One” against taking anything other than the free upgrade. Or just sticking with 6 for now.
They really need to overhaul their processes. Can’t help thinking this situation is arising because of the annual rush for a new version and the content to go with it. They need to abandon this number change and go back to bringing in new features as and when ready. Put the routes out as normal DLC, again when fully realised and the best they can be. If the German and UK efforts are to a similar standard, I’ll save myself forty quid.
You can do that, sure but what difference does it make to just wait for the other two? It’s been the same before: the first add‑on they show is bad, and the other two are fine. For me it also partly comes down to the fact that American content doesn’t really interest me anyway, and on top of that the route itself is boring mostly double track and nothing particularly special. You can panic and request a refund now, but you can just as easily do that next Wednesday. In fact, you can always ask for a refund as long as you haven’t played more than two hours.
DTG has to realise they cant lean into these fancy PC features like DLSS and Frame Gen. This isnt going to be an excuse NOT to optimise the game... For years, dtg have had this weird, victim complex where they cant fix things becuase x y z. these features are welcome for PC, but it ISNT a golden goose.
I think its a fair decision And the new lighting and better graphics are very depending on the quality of the stream and i have nearly seen anything due to the choices they have been made with live weather and a dark ride.
My thoughts on the preview stream: - New UI desperately needs a dark mode. - Live weather does not look fully fleshed out yet - Passengers still borked beyond belief - Cutting it off at Boca Raton really breaks the immersion - This isn’t necessarily DTG's fault, but the stream did remind me that the route itself is fairly boring and monotonous. I think a lot of people will be disappointed with it, especially non-Americans who might see Florida train line and were expecting some scenic urban route. Vast majority of the line is through industrial parks and alongside an interstate.
well i found out that major December update is adding that locked railyard (time stamped 27:24) on that route.
Posting in here really quick so I can pop back in later, but anything you want to send my way, ping me in.
I thought the route looked really nice tbh, v good foliage work (new foliage?), nice varying track and ballast (UK routes could do with this), and the roads looked v busy which is an immersive touch. I also like the look of the freight mode, a bit Run8 style, endless hours of playability there.
from the first look, my main concern is the live weather and improved passengers. both of these are features for tsw7, but neither seem to function properly. all i’d like if possible is a simple yes or no as to whether these will be fixed for early access in 8 days time, or if they’ll be fixed in a patch that is months away
For your information the horn sounds are the real thing ..matt did a 10 minute scenario with the GP49 pack called Drop the mike and they did record the real horns on BL20 F40 GP49 i think they all sound great the P5 horn on the F40 sounds good i hear these horns all the time on CSX NS trains in my area and they sound pretty close to real thing
For those who didn't tune in: Live Weather was not working as intended, there was no transition at all between weather patterns. The UI is very bright and harmful on the eyes, doesn't look very accessible. On the main menu the freight hauler mode is just awkwardly inserted below the other game modes and it looks really amateurish. In freight hauler the green tick icon was facing the wrong way, not a big deal but it's a five second fix that I'm surprised was not brought up until now. Passengers were sitting on a train stabled in the depot (7 games and this still hasn't been fixed) Passenger logic doesn't seem changed at all and they're still really janky. The route looks like a Metrolink route but with palm trees, if that's your bag. Timetable is the same across PC and Gen 9 No plans for any further Amtrak DLC Supports freight layers from both Clinchfield railroad and Horseshoe Curve (just wagons) Some of the freight sidings will not be available in game from day one and is apparently coming shortly after release. Matt didn't really elaborate further but yeah I guess some sidings are locked off for now.
My opinion of the route still looking forward to it the trains look and sound good..the horns are real recordings the nathan P5 on the F40ph 3 sounds great ..the freight hauler mode looks interesting i like to do freight switching and im fine with it ..the route is in Florida no mountains there it is what it is,,thats what the route looks like in real life there are no us commuter routes in the mountains what do people expect,,,the live weather i really wont use it i prefer to set my own custom weather . settings .. i already pre ordered the standard pak and waiting on september 15 to be ready to play all 3 routes they look fine to me ..
Also NYT providing the Amfleets for the inspection train. Where did I say "the sounds aren't real"? I said "it's poor implemented". It doesn't matter where your original file is from or what quality it is if you make a config that makes the sound barely audible (and that's by the way the locomotive horn!). Why does a locomotive need a horn if it can't be heard 50 meters before a crossing? That's a question for you, DTG. And I will insist on my own, the horn sounds on the BL36PH are poorly configured.
Honestly at times like this I have to wonder why they feel the need to make new routes every year. TSC just picked pre-existing routes from the prior year to bundle in. Picking the two or three bests ones and including those in a $30 bundle would frankly be a lot more appealing than these rush jobs. It's the ETS2 problem, you can record actual good sounds, but utterly wreck them with awful sound mixing. Good sounds on their own are at best half the equation, frankly in a lot of cases the mixing matters more than the audio quality I feel.
reading the comments (and watching the preview stream) only makes me think that I was right not to buy anything from TSW this year and only redeem the free starter pack to buy the 3 dlcs that interest me and by the way, I hated the reskin they did on the interface this year and the color scheme, simply awful also, the "epic" mode didn't surprise me at all, TSW7 is proving to be increasingly unnecessary
After I watched a YT cab ride I couldn't believe they cut this one from the DLC. It's the most interesting station in the route by a mile.
Seriously, how many producers does DTG have in their roster? Can't just one of them think that if most of their players play around 45min - 1h in a session, having a Hauling Mode that generates 6h+ of workload is not a good idea?
The controller movement, both fast and smoothly slow are the big things for me. Hopefully this will improve point switching on the map because that's a huge headache, especially now with the freight mode coming. The route is ok if abit meh.
No joke i think DTG tried to copy Apple and their liquid glass UI design. Everything from the minimalism to the glass/liquid look of words in the direct and all promo material screams IOS 26 to me. Edit: I mean look at this Apple: Quite literally can’t get more identical than this (Also, this isn’t my phone, just an image i pulled from the web)
Yippe a new US route right!?!? Oh look reused and recycled freight content again. Hey Matt does the company love ignoring the realism aspect of US freight? Reusing the same horn (which isn’t even remotely close to CSXs selection of horns). Why must we keep using the Sd40-2? How about lets look into the Sd40-3… 111 UNITS CSX has. Recycle recycle recycle. Heres a simple video of what the sd40-2 should sound like…
unfortunately that the only engine for freight dtg can use and the horn sounds. so if there going to be future freight route it going to use the csx sd40 and gp38. and ac4400cw and c40-8w will be layer in. remember us freight route won't allow DTG access to cars or engines cause there too busy. i guess that down side to making tsw as real as it gets, your limited on what you want for route for US side anyway.
-There is a perfectly ok ES44C4 sitting there that could be modified into an ES44AC for CSX -The GP40-2 uses the same prime mover as the SD40-2, which can be made from a modified GP38-2 (They share the same frame) would just need a new carbody. Not sure if the NJT GP40PH-2 thats coming with Bergen Line has the same EMD 645 as the freight GP40-2's, but that could be a way for getting new 16-645E3 sounds for the SD40-2
I thought it looked pretty good overall. Nice scenery and the sounds seem ok to me, at least on the new locos and rolling stock. The tri-lingual announcements are really cool imo, and play to the strengths of the Miami setting. There seems to be a good mix of operations in the timetable. Gives me Penninsula Corridor vibes, which isn't a bad thing imo. I just watched it now, so no issues with the stream quality. I still say the livestreams do more harm than good for the presentation, but whatevs it is what it is. The live weather transitions clearly need work, but should be an easy fix considering a free app does it just fine in TSW6. Probably should have waited to show it off tbh. +1 for a dark UI option Freight hauler is totally my jam, my only fear is they just drop it as-is and never let it reach its true potential. It's a good start but needs some tweaks. Matt already hedging about it coming to older routes, and some inaccesible sidings at launch don't fill me with confidence. I have a lot more thoughts on it but not for this thread.
Reminder that on Morristown's preview stream, the exterior horn on the Arrow was MUCH quieter than it was when Morristown was released. I'm confident enough that they're gonna fix it when the route releases. After all, it DOES appear that they tweaked some of the mixing of the sounds on the F40PH which were re-used from the BOW F40.
