Will Tsw 6 Progress Carry Through To Tsw 7?

Hi, saw the announcement, will my progress and scenarios etc on TSW 6 carry through to TSW 7?

 

So long as you don't uninstall TSW6 before installing at least the base TSW7, when you first run the latter it should prompt you to import your profile and information. At least that's how it worked in previous years. Note though it will not transfer across your in game settings, last year I jotted them all down on a piece of paper.

What's not clear is whether the Monthly Mastery will roll over from 6 to 7, though that's a relatively minor concern.

 

It will. My only concern is if DTL will be able to handle all the players playing simultaneously the first few days.

Usually, yes.

 

Found it odd that they didn't mention that you can import previous profiles this time. I'm guessing it's because since it has been this way for years it doesn't need mentioning.

If this is not the case ... Well, don't even want to think about it.

 

I did have some trouble with TSW5->TSW6 because of some configuration issues with Microsoft OneDrive on PC. It should just work though.

I have always just manually copied across the file they are stored in.

And in which file are all the in-game settings saved?

 

Documents\My Games\[TSW version]\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

You want GameUserSettings.ini


You will manually need to select any new settings added in a new TSW version, but it will store all your existing prior ones.

I tend to copy it when copying over my Engine.ini

 

What annoying it can transfer that but not your settings.

 

Unfortunately all the bugs, glitches and issues will carry over too

You can, of course, import your profile from TSW 6 into TSW 7, which is what I did back then when moving from TSW 5 to TSW 6.

My profile in TSW 5 and 6 was called DanielR, and the file was called DanielR.sav, but I’ve just checked in TSW 6 and suddenly my profile is called Daniel_BR145ExpertProfile.sav!
Is this the case for other users who have the BR 145 Expert, or am I looking in the wrong folder?

The profile .sav file is in this folder, isn’t it?
C:\Users\Home_PC\Documents\MyGames\TrainSimWorld6\Saved\SaveGames

 

The file called Daniel_BR145ExpertProfile.sav is not your player profile. It is your settings for TSG's BR 145 Expert (if you have failures on or off, chaos factor multiplier, if you have virtual conductor on/off etc). If you have the Expert 101 you will also have a DanielR_BR101ExpertProfile.sav and a DanielR_BpmmbdzfExpertProfile.sav with the config for the 101 and the cab car respectively.

Your old profile file was called PP_DanielR.sav. It seems DTG changed the name of the file, and it will now be called something following the pattern PP_[some HexadecimalNumber].sav, where [someHexadecimalNumber] is probably some kind of unique internal identification number.

 

I don’t have the files DanielR_BR101ExpertProfile.sav and DanielR_BpmmbdzfExpertProfile.sav, even though I’ve already driven with these two locomotives.

I only have one file that starts with ‘PP’, and it’s called PP_262031397020fd8df478ec13b4b096c5.sav.
So do you mean that this PP_262031397020fd8df478ec13b4b096c5.sav is my actual profile?

 

Maybe the game does not create them if you do not change any of the default settings.

Also as long as you are on PC, Xbox, or PS5 yes. You can't import from PS4 to PS5 sadly they say.
