Can anybody shed any detailed light on the AI conductor mode feature coming for TSW7.

I assume this means we will see a conductor at the very least? Or is it simply the game opening and closing the doors and initiating the initial two bells to start the departure process?

I don't think you will see the conductor/guard, it just means that the AI conductor/guard will open and shuts the doors for you - will mean more realism on routes where the driver does not control the doors.

In thw UK, the guard also opens the door? I believe in other countries the guard only close the doors and ofc there are trains without guards, so curious how they implement this in game.

Yes it's a bit silly, so many UK trains have guards, even regional services. A waste of staff if you ask me. Better to have qualified security on rather than someone like this. For longer services, sure, regional services absolutely not.

I'm wondering if the AI guard actually does the buzzer, the same as some other third party trains. I hope so, but I wouldn't be surprised if it just worked how it does in TSC, which would be disappointing.

In the Netherlands, most trains have guards too, I guess it's a safety thing.

Funnily enough, tonight I was on a Transpennine 802 from Edinburgh to Newcastle and there were no train crew but the driver. Which meant no snacks, and nobody checking tickets the whole journey. Luckily for the person in my first class coach needing assistance the staff at Waverley called ahead to Newcastle to have staff on the platform ready to get her off the train.

Something about the conductor would be cool is a delay. Cause for example in switzerland it's like that the conductor closes every door a few seconds, sometimes twenty seconds before departure, then checks if everything is okay and closes then his own door. Like it was done on medway valley. And I'm not sure how difficult it would be to implement a delay but IR sometimes this whole process is half a minute or so with long trains. And I'm note sure if this would be just annoying but I think it could increase the realism then just closing the door 10second early so you will depart 20 to 30seconds after the time TSW gives you for your departure time.

Matt has told thats the case. The guard use the buzzer. Its the same as for the Rivet addons. And you have 2 modes for the guard... "Always" that means the guard close the doors for every type of train and you have the "realistic" version... That means it's like the driver open the doors and the guard close them. Its depending on the country and type of train and not as in the always mode that the guard override the closing/opening process.

There will have been a guard too - no services on TPE are driver only operated (DOO)

It would good to hear more about this, hopefully they post an article about it. Will be interesting to see how it works on German trains. The AI conductor on the expert 101 is really good, so hopefully they've learned from that.

Just to confirm it's a way of automating door operations, but there is no NPC conductor.
