The metro liner cab car is not electric it just a amfleet car with a small cab in it so the diesel or electric locomotive can be controlled.Tri rail is all Diesel ..
I Agree too much complaining about not having the whole route.I figured before hand that they wouldnt do the whole route..And matt did say in the stream that they adding some more industry freight branches on the south end later, so in theory they gave tri rail passenger and they giving us a decent amount of freight switching that people been asking for vs just point a to b freight runs. Plus im tired of folks dogging on US content especially freight ...tired of ppl saying it boring etc or that US freight too hard to operate people too impatient to wait 10 to 12 min for the brakes to fully release ,or it boring going 18 25 mph up and down the steep grades , sorry thats the way it is in real life a mile or more long US freight train is not the bullet train .it takes skill and patience to get these trains across the lines..and no one understands that freight is the dominant rail operation in USA .and could be why US routes dont sell as well bet if more quality freight DLC and routes were added ppl would open their wallets or more US players would get into TSW.
My complaint is that there are still no safety systems in the cargo transportation industry. It's like someone stole a piece of the game from you.
I bought the santa fe pak day one, and when i saw it i thought oh no this is not going to be well ,they did make it better after all the complaints.i have the GP60m pak as well and it sad they just re did it from C40 8 w..again just makes more dissent on US content,,i hope they do better with the SP Hayden branch but im not getting my hopes up too high..that why we really do need more 3rd partys that will be dedicated and make effort to create some really great US freight orgive us some passenger equipment we really want that,DTG will never touch. As far as the snoot nose BNSF sd40 2 it neat and adamovic hopefully will make it well but we do need more differnet power like GP40 2 for local freight switching new skins how about a GP40 2 in CSX NS UP BNSF skins .
the problem with the safety systems on US freight, is They use PTC and its very complicated system to impliment in TSW before PTC the safety system was the alertor it would just beep every so many seconds and you had to do a function in the locomotive to stop it or they have a bar you would hit with your hand to show that you were still awake and alert .ialso on some rr they had slightly diifferent procedures or systems and most of the more detailed safety systems were on lines that have a lot of passenger and freight traffic.. and in the game on routes or engines the safety system alertor dont work right or at all or cant be heard when you go in camera mode to switch in a yard ..
my dream come true in terms of freight would be the BNSF AC4400CW with proper sounds and BNSF targeted internal (in-cab) and external modifications (e.g., number boards above the windshield instead of on the nose)
But it exists, right? I'm fine with the route being built before it was implemented, but if it's for today, it should be there. Especially since the New York-Stamford route already has a system in place. Modders tried to transfer it to freight locomotives, and they even succeeded. Is it really that hard for a DTG to do what modders did?
Massive difference between ATC/ACSES and PTC and all the versions of it; personally, I've always thought that they should implement a reduced version of PTC, something similar to railbridge,
The usual suspects will always make excuses for DTG cutting certain routes short. They should've made the whole line
You say this as if I don't like/can't take and handle criticism of DTG in general despite the fact that: 1. I have had and still have my fair share of criticisms of DTG (breaking aspects of Morristown in several post release updates, never fixing the overly bright headlights on the Boston - Worcester F40PH-3C, their handling of the pricing of the LIRR Extended DLC to name a few) 2. DTG not implementing the stations north of Boca-Raton quite literally IS a criticism of mine, but I just feel that it's not worth getting worked up because I really don't think it will ruin a person's experience when the route comes out, most of which comes from people who think the line in TSW is too short even though it really isn't.
Its simply to the point where I and many others decide to live with Run8 for freight realism. I mean sucks not having kind of graphics but it chases the experiences we want in TSW. Its just strange how the game is literally called Train Sim World and majority of it is all the same countries. Maybe DTG should shift gears and make the game centered around only passenger trains since that is what makes them their money.
You quite literally just explained why DTG possibly didn't implement the rest of the route to begin with. It's very likely that they had gotten the licensing and branding for Tri-Rail sometime recently very late into the TSW6 cycle and only had a few short months to develop the route, but had to stop at Boca-Raton just so it can be released with the TSW7 package. Obviously I agree they should've implemented the whole route, but it is what it is, and as I've stated, it really is not something to get worked up over since a grand majority of the route is still present.
No one argues that these are different systems. But the DTG ready-made system was not added to freight locomotives.
Oh yes, it would make a HUGE difference if the route were complete, regardless of whether one, five or fifteen stations are missing. ESPECIALLY in terms of services! I've expanded on this idea in more detail in the comment below. Criticism is not a sign of disrespect, but a sign that we care. If constant criticism eventually leads to improvements to the passenger system or a more carefully considered selection of routes for DLC, then, in the best interests of all players, we should not stop voicing our criticism. I can see you don’t understand what I mean. It’s not about the length of the route, but about its completeness. Even very short branch lines are great, because you can drive the train from the starting station to the terminus. Just like a real train driver does. It’s not just 'a short drive along the route' aimlessly and pointlessly, but the chance to recreate a train driver’s tasks more or less accurately. Starting the train, driving it along its entire route to the terminus, deactivating the cab, changing cabs, activating the cab at the other end, taking a short or long break, and driving back. All repeated as many times as I want and have time for. In some cases, even a trip to and from the depot. And I enjoy doing things like that. If a DLC merely provides a route segment taken out of context, it’s impossible to recreate any reasonable simulation on it, and it’s hard to feel like a virtual train driver. You can play with such a route like a toy train set on the carpet, going round and round without any logical beginning or end. I can guess what you’re going to say next: “But it’s only a game!.” Except that TSW aspires to be more than just a game. The title includes the word “sim”, meaning a simulator. And a simulator does come with certain obligations. I’d like the developers, when selecting routes to recreate in TSW, to choose ones that can be covered entirely or in a reasonable section (such that the change of drivers along the route is at least logical, if not true to the prototype). I’m sure there are plenty of such routes in the UK, the US and Europe. And if there really are so many people who are fascinated by train rides without any context, then surely, alongside these randomly cut-up route segments, a similar number of complete routes should be released – perhaps as a separate ‘expert’ DLC line.
I dont play run 8 or consider it cause it not a game i can get on Steam TSW TSC Trainz i can easily buy and download on steam ..Run 8 is complicated to get and set up i hear and they have a terrible purchase system ..so for me run 8 isnt a option
I find it interesting how we get these folk saying "I play xxxx game it's much better". Yet here they are on the TSW forums! I'm disappointed this route doesn't go all the way, I've complained about this issue many times. However completing the route adds another 38 minutes into the timetable so it's hardly just round the corner.
A friend of mine said this about Run 8.Run 8 over ratedits nothing but Microsoft Train Simulator with a updated dispatch system, ,run 8 is super old stuff with newer enhancements,,he s had people ask him if he go to run8 , he said probabally not dont seem practical when Trainz and TSW are better in his opinion;.
Probably because if you're a fan of trains you'll generally play whatever is available within the genre, but still have a specific game that captures your attention the most regardless of how much better or worse it is. For example: Even though I play far better racing games (in terms of overall performance and quality) within the genre, NASCAR will always be my preferred choice because it appeals to me the most.
That’s fair when it comes to freight on NEC routes they should absolutely add the cab signal display but in real life freight railroads like CSX will just run non-cab signaled equipped with only PTC trains onto cab signaled territory if DTG added the “Clear to next interlocking” signal that would be cool
