So I have pre-ordered deluxe for TSW7 which I believe is supposed to include early access. This will be my first time pre-ordering anything through Steam so not sure how it works, I wasn't too doubtful until I saw a member of DTG staff in another thread say that downloading the game should happen from the moment of purchase, it will just be locked from being played until the 10th. The problem is I have not had any download, nor do I have the option to start one. In fact when looking at the game's page in my library it displays that the game will be available on the 15th as if I had only bought standard, yet upon double checking the store page I can verify that deluxe is in my library. Is this normal, or any help if not?
Don't worry, I took the deluxe edition too and I have 15 september too. Last year It was the same and I had no problem for download the game and playing the first day of early access.
I tried finding the post from the staff member you're referring to but couldn't find it. The FAQ states that downloads won't happen until the game release (on Steam), whichever date that may be for you. According to the FAQ (and the very helpful commenter above), it's normal and nothing to worry about. Here's a link to the FAQ in case you haven't seen it (but you might have done, in which case ignore): https://support.dovetailgames.com/hc/en-us/articles/35735377213458-Train-Sim-World-7-FAQ Hope that helps!
MP600 In your first screenshot, it says that TSW 7 is in your library, but it also says in yellow text that you can play it five days early. And Steam has never offered the option to download the game after purchase, only for it to be unlocked on 10 September. You can only download TSW 7 on 10 September if you’ve bought the Deluxe Edition, whilst anyone with the Standard Edition can download it on 15 September. It would certainly be an advantage if DTG could set it up so that you could download TSW 7 as soon as you’ve bought it, and it would then be unlocked on the first day of play.
Thank you all for your help, my worries can be set aside. However I did find the post I mentioned having seen from a member of staff, it was from DTG-Chris. This does seem to conflict as the article aeronautic237 linked says that Playstation is the only platform to support preloading. So what are these other "most platforms"? That said beyond the fact that Chris posted it in another thread, I cannot actually find or verify the individual source.
Well with all due respect Chris appears out of his depth and doesn't know what he's talking about I pre ordered deluxe got page choosing what to download and my download totals 6GB on Xbox so clearly what he stated is factually incorrect given I've downloaded free starter pack and UK route
I pre order deluxe edition and my xbox downloaded start pack and all the routes plus locos and totals i think about 35gb.
So what you're saying is that you were able to preload it on Xbox, exactly like Chris said in his message?
You can download the base game and legacy content when the Early Access starts on steam not earlier. There is no preload.
According to the streams, the legacy content won’t be available until September 15th, which is also the regular release date. If that’s true, pre-ordering for early access doesn’t really make sense to me. I’d basically be playing the new routes with reduced timetables, since the additional layers from the legacy content would still be missing.
Thats wrong what they communicate in the stream. Here is the text from the TSW7 FAQ.... This was last year also the case.
Yes it appears so because I pre ordered then it asked me what I wanted to install and listed all items of Deluxe package to click which ones to download then it did items I selected this was on series x
And I don’t really understand where you’re getting that 6 GB figure from… I play on PC, so I know roughly what you should expect per route in terms of file size. One route is already around 10–15 GB on average, and you said you have the Deluxe Edition that’s three routes of 10–15 GB each, plus the base‑game components. That simply doesn’t match the 6 GB you’re talking about. And yes, it can be compressed, but even then 6 GB is just far too low. I don’t know what you are downloading, but it’s definitely not the game.
Yeah im a bit curious how this is.... What i have understand there is no official preload if im correct
That is what I found out the hard way during the early access for TSW 5. I was looking forward to playing the Watford DC services on the WCML, but alas. No downloading of older content.
Yeah that makes more sense Nice to have that especially when you did not have a fast internet connection.
This really helps . Plus, I'll probably get the fee starter pack and download what I want to play first (including layers). Then let the rest of the stuff download in the background. I try to keep my install relatively small anyway, and rarely have all available DLC installed.
