Although it's showing its age NTP is still one of my favourite routes so I'm looking forward to this remaster.

I've not bought any DLC for a while due to TSW pricing- and performance-related issues on my platform of choice, but I'll make an exception for the Class 37 DLC as a "thank-you" for letting me have the updated NTP for free.

Good luck and a fair wind to the devs, and please make it good!

i have to be the one to ask because i haven't seen anyone else ask, and its a big ask considering the work you already have on a first time project, but are you going to add the few miles to heeley mills in the remaster? i expect the no answer but one can only ask.

I just hope the 37/0 has new sounds and doesn't recycle the ones from the 37/5

Remasters don't typically involve extending the route

I’ve seen elsewhere that you’ll be keeping the route to its current year, but I’d like to ask if you’d consider making the 142 a player only substitution for the 101?

It’s extremely unlikely, if ever we’ll get another version of this route, other than modern - I’d really appreciate the opportunity to drive the 142 in its early environment along this route.

Honestly I am thrilled that this is happening, it was by far the best bit of news for me from the DTG Live "thing" though I wasn't able to reply at the time as I was hit by the banhammer...

It is fantastic news that this route is getting some TLC and a proper remaster, in my opinion it was by far the most in need of one as I had stated when I made the suggestion of a remaster and asked for thoughts.

One of the biggest things that I recall from that thread was that the scenery was largely "passable", of course for PC users it was improved by community created enhancements however if one looked even slightly close at some things it started to unravel - such as the state of Manchester Victoria. They did a great job modelling some parts of the station and then seemingly gave up, they left out the infamous subway, the concourse is completely devoid of anything almost like it was not supposed to be seen by the player, it really drags it down.

I genuinely still enjoy having a run on NTP every now and again but do have some struggles with it, mainly the quietness of it. I can avoid climbing out of the cab and wandering around too much but one thing that can't be avoided is the emptiness of the big stations, Victoria is missing banking engines and "local" services, well it's missing anything that is not coming or going to/from Leeds really and is a big immersion killer. That there is going to be a new timetable is fantastic news!

I was thrilled with the news of the new 37/0 and wagons but to have it created with NTP in mind is brilliant, hopefully both the locomotive and the wagons will layer in nicely throughout the route and hopefully the timetable will be able to allow the JT 108 layer/sub accordingly when that is released given how they were a staple traction in the area.

Anyway, great news and great screenshots :) Keep it up :)

We wont be subbing in the pacer, as it was not prototypical to see them in 1982, even on trial services, we are wanting to be realistic as possible with the timetable and route.

We are exploring the 108, JTs 47/3 and the BR Blue 20 subbing into the 37/0 timetable.

Are there any plans to fix any of NTP's numerous bugs, such as e.g. passengers not spawning beyond the first station or the Mk2 numbering being broken?

I'll be looking forward to using scenario planner to hopefully create some pacer/sprinter runs using Blackpool Branches and West Cornwall stock.

I see that some posts about pricing have been mentioned, but no real ideas on what a user should expect. I'd draw you to the Dovetail Live announcement stating that routes will garner a premium price tag, and with this remaster being carried out by a third party, I'd expect it to be in the region of £29.99 - £34.99 as in theory while it's a remaster, the whole route will be rebuilt, with new assets etc that bring it up to the "Premium" level that we should expect from DTG.

Just to throw it out there, you should still expect the core bugs that are currently present in all UK routes to pop up as they are core engine issues and unless DTG manage to fix them prior to it's release, you'll probably still get blurry textures on consoles and odd behaviour of the signalling system and the like.

Well the other remasters were free so why wouldn't this one be?

They are bringing out a new locomotive which will obviously be paid DLC.

Exactly. The loco DLC pays for the cost of remastering the route, same as East Coastway.

One would hope not, GWE was a spare time passion project by Liam, this will be a 'day job' piece of work.

What do you mean? DTG announced in their August roadmap that it's a free update, as is the case with all of the remasters.

From what I understand, the remaster of the route is completely free. But the Class 37/0 will be a separate paid DLC that adds the new timetable. It works on the same principle of the ECW remaster, in which the route remaster was free, but the new timetable was behind the Class 171 & 377/3 pay wall.

It's very simple.... I don't believe a word that comes out of DTG's corporate mouth at the minute. It's personal opinion, with the fact that they've changed course on the run up to the release of TSW 7, by saying that routes will be a premium price, I can see them changing their pricing strategy for the NTP remaster because sales of TSW 7 won't be where they need to be for the bean counters.

All I'm going to say on DTG promises for TSW 7 release day was "no blurry textures".........

So in other words, you're presuming bad faith based on a misinterpretation about the future cost of routes? Not to mention equating apples and oranges (prices of routes, remasters being free). They haven't said all routes will be a premium price, they were asked the price of buying the individual core routes in TSW7. This was all clarified as "a decision per add-on, rather than a strict formula - because the add-on value can change massively from one project to the next".

Yes which I'm entitled to believe, I'm happy to admit I'm wrong when it actually gets released for free with certain things behind a paywall, but I can see them changing the development process along the way to get another £32.99 out of their user base as they'll add something that's not covered to warrant the full route DLC price.

They said the basic DLC price for a new route, with new locos etc etc will be £32.99, if you don't think that it's crossed their minds that they can add a new loco to the NTP timetable and then rebadge it as a "all new route" that's up to you.

If you want to continue to try and convince me otherwise, you're welcome, but do it in a DM and not clog up the forum threads with unnecessary back and forth on the matter.

This isn't prolonging a back and forth, but on a matter of factual accuracy, no they didn't. Alex specifically said "So to confirm - Not all add-ons will have this baseline moving forwards, they will still contionue (sic) to follow the exact same pricing breakdowns we've had over the last year with TSW6 Add-ons". (Source)

I'm not saying we will definitely see a new route with a new loco at £29.99 in future, but it hasn't been ruled out.

Sorry what's factually inaccurate about new DLC full routes being priced at £32.99?

Not really sure where this conversation is going. It’s been confirmed several times the remaster is free and the class 37 is chargeable. Time to move on I think.

I would hope that some of the signalling issues are sorted. There is a signal around Marsden (I think) which could show a red and has no repeater or distant associated with it leading to SPAD potential if you drive HUD less.

I hope so as well but I fear it won't, remasters don't seem to involve signalling/trackwork changes. It's been asked, but no reply as yet, so you never know.

Is it not a case of the remaster being free if you already have Northern Transpennine, but if you don't you'll have to buy the original route for £20 unless they're having a sale? Unless they do a "deluxe" style with the 37 for £30 and sell the new 37 separately for a tenner or something. How does this forthcoming Class 37 differ from the one we got on Tees Valley?

Of course, same as every other remaster. It's on sale for £4.99 right now on Steam, for example, if one buys an earlier version.

Totally agree on the fact "going the extra mile" make a huge difference.

NTP with the heavey freight pack was for me kind of the same. DTG created a nice atmosphere with the rather low amount of rolling stock back then, they put a lot of static wagons and locos. Both Depots were included also the one rather far at manchester.

For its old standards it one of the routes i still drive regular. So the remaster is definetly the right thing to go and msking use of all possible stock we have from that era.

This would be the time for a separate class 25 loco dlc!

That would have been my shout and would have got the classic traction in a good place for a future period North Wales Coast or Cambrian Summer Saturday! I’ll certainly think about buying the 37/0, hopefully they are talking to AP to use their superb sounds.

The other thing would be nice to see with this route is some blue and grey Mark Ones (not the Athena ones) added to the game to bring some variety to the consists. At the time the route is set, you wouldn’t be seeing solid Mark 2 formations.

if the vision is there, this remaster could be the foundation of a wider revitalisation of BR Classic in TSW.

I would love to see a modern day version remake of this route as go well with new Leeds route and also love to have new Liverpool to Manchester route only downside of the modern route we have to get a class 185

If you scroll down there is a short section detailing the differences in the sub classes. Essentially though the 37/0’s were the OG build.
