Hi everyone, I've been working on a rather experimental TSW project: trying to merge Kassel–Würzburg and Frankfurt–Fulda into one continuous route instead of using Route Hopping. The main goal is to make the routes exist inside the same world so that, in theory, you could drive continuously between them without being sent back to the menu or loading another route. What I've been working on So far I've been experimenting with things such as: World Composition / route tiles Tile coordinates and positioning RouteDefinition assets AssetRegistry information Cooking modified route content with the TSW Public Editor Getting assets from both routes to exist inside the same route Keeping the original routes untouched while testing the merged version Trying to make the existing scenery and track tiles load correctly together I've already managed to get quite far into analysing and processing the route data, although there are still several technical problems to solve before this can become a properly playable route. Why am I doing this? Route Hopping is a nice feature, but I've always wanted to see what happens if several existing German routes are actually connected into a single large network. If this works, the same concept could potentially be interesting for other connected TSW routes in the future. Important This is currently an experimental personal modding project. The intention is not to redistribute Dovetail Games' DLC files or copyrighted route assets. Any eventual release would need to work in a way that requires players to own the necessary original DLCs. I'm mainly creating this thread to document the project and to see whether anyone else in the TSW modding community has experimented with something similar. I'll post updates here if I make more progress. Thanks!
Nice project! I’m sure you are aware, however, just in case you are not, there are other activities like this coming from the community. This being the best known, probably (at least for me): https://forums.dovetailgames.com/threads/wip-merged-routes-us-and-uk.98357/#post-1134159 Maybe a chance to exchange on experiences…
Don't know you plan to merge Main Spessart Bahn to We need a route from Hanau to Wurzburg to Link up Frankfurt to new tsw 7 route
My Main Plan for now is to first Merge Kassel - Würzburg with Fulda - Frankfurt and then further down to Nurenberg (Würzburg - Nurenberg) I didnt plan anything with the Main spessart bahn yet.
Ok nice would be great you made a video of how to merge routes I want to merge Stufferjet Line and Mildmay line
Long time no Update So heres a Update: I offically made the RouteMapWidget (The Main Selectable RouteMap and I added the stations to the Route Map, If everything goes according to plan it will be released 2 weeks after the offical Release of TSW7. The only issue I have right now is that if I for example select Fulda and then start, it doesnt produce anything All i get is Empty Sky, so if someone can help me out and may have a soloution please tell me, Thanks!
This is a fantastic project for players who enjoy running long routes. However, I have a question: if it is later extended to Nuremberg or Ingolstadt, will the same timetable need to be used? (Because the timetable years for these maps are different, and the corresponding AI will also be different.) I'm curious about which year's timetable will be used.
Update: So I managed to fix the producing thing and the spawnpoints all work correcly now. The only Main thing missing is the dispatcher because right now The Dispatcher only knows the Kassel - Wurzburg Route but not the Fulda - Frankfurt route so yea I still gotta add that in. Once that is done. The merge is done, I am still deciding whenever i want to release a SMALL timetable with it or not. (Screenshot below is taken from MAIN TSW, not editor)
The merge is about 90% Done. The Dispatcher works now, the only thing Missing is that on some sections theres no visible tracks Once i fix that only the SMALL timetable is missing
If someone Here knows how To create timetables PLEASE Message me i need someone who can create timetables, thanks!
