    Hi friends I have these settings for my 12Gb VRAM RTX3080;
    If you have a lower VRAM adjust these settings down to suit.
    (Streaming.PoolSize=xxxx)
    (Streaming.MaxTempMemoryAllowed=xxxx)
    Copy and paste SystemSettings below into your "documents/mygames/traisimworld7/saved/config/windowsnoeditor/engine.ini file"

    What do you mean? The overwhelming majority of this stuff is unnecessary now and a lot of it is messing with the new settings. Epic settings delivers a pop free experience, and nothing in that list of commands offers anything more than is incorporated into the core game.

    If you’re playing on TSW 7, then custom ini is now pretty much redundant.

    TSW 7 has a lot of Jetwash’ custom ini settings built in, when you select the in-game epic settings.

    There are new anti-aliasing options too, which is vastly superior to the older TAA and FXAA options. You do not need to increase the screen percentage, either.

    Sorry to disagree but the popin for me was atrocious until I used these settings. I had Epic on the draw distance set but to no avail and DLSS enabled.
    We can see if anyone else is experiencing "pop-in" still, if they want to contribute to this thread.

    I agree with Jetwash and other's
    I'm on a 4080 Super Ryzen 7 7800X3D Epic Settings will DLSS Super Quality and I have no pop ins whatsoever only thing in my ini file is Journey Mode Chapter Override.

    Exactly, a 4080 super, what about those on lesser cards and equipment?
    To be clear I only had one setting on Epic the other settings on high and some more on ultra, pop-in was baaaad. Until I implemented the Engine ini system settings, smooth as butter and no pop-ins. I understand the position of Jet and London wanting to defend their position however have all different combinations of PC components and their configurations been tested on lower settings for pop-in?

    I’m sorry, but that is absolutely untrue. I don’t have to defend my position as there is no position to defend, there is no pop-in on epic settings, period. If you’re experiencing it then you have done something weird to your game or don’t have epic settings fully enabled. I note you’ve said yourself that you didn’t have Epic settings properly set as some things were set to High or Ultra, and that is why you’re seeing pop-in. Foliage draw distance is controlled by foliage quality, not view distance for example. It goes without saying that whatever card or equipment you’re on is irrelevant. If you have epic settings enabled then it doesn’t care what your machine is, it just is what it is.

    I’m not going into it in depth, but I can tell you your ini file is full of unnecessary and contradictory things and many lines are set to numbers that will have no effect on the game whatsoever. A lot of the other lines are messing with the carefully curated lighting setup and the things that do matter are actually set to the same or lower settings than the Epic pre-set. Your draw distance is less than half for example.

    ps If you don’t know what you’re doing with these things copy-pasting a load of random engine-changing lines into a file will cause absolute chaos with your game. Part of the reasoning for doing this in the first place (aside from vastly improving the way the game looks) was to offer people an experience where they didn’t have mess with ini files anymore. Yes there are things you can do like suppressing achievement pop-ups etc but all this other stuff is just not necessary anymore.

    Please forgive my confusion...
    Can anyone irrespective of hardware select epic and get decent performance?

    Regarding the vegetation pop-in, I noticed that setting the view distance quality to "Epic" solves the issue, even if I lower the foliage quality to "High."

    The only option I can't use properly is Frame Generation; even though the counter shows 60 FPS, it doesn't feel smooth, so I use Lossless Scaling instead, which works much better.

    My specs are:
    - Ryzen 5 5600X
    - AMD RX 9060XT 16GB
    - 32GB DDR4 3200MHz
    - 1440p screen resolution

    The only settings I've brought over since the switch (for personal preferences):

    [SystemSettings]
    ts2.dbg.JourneyChapterLockOverride=1
    ts2.save.CheckpointsEnabled=0
    r.DefaultFeature.LensFlare=1
    r.LensFlareQuality=3
    ts2.dbg.Track.SleeperViewDistanceScale=0
    ts2.dbg.Track.SleeperViewDistanceScaleMax=0
    ^ I just really hate the ballast LOD issue. I'm eagerly awaiting a fix for that. :)

    No need, assumption makes people an ass.
    I emptied the ini file of its settings and tried Epic on the game quality settings and as you have stated there is no pop in, the difference between 6 and 7 is remarkable I assumed if I tried Epic my 3080 would render a slide show, apparently not.

    It depends, probably in the old days it would have. If you try DLSS on Quality (probably ultra quality would work on some routes) you should be pleasantly surprised I’d have thought. If you need to drop a setting I would probably go for View Distance rather than Foliage quality as it’s the latter that controls the foliage draw distance. The other option would be shadow quality as that resolution might be pushing it on a 3080, Ultra ought to work nicely.

    CPU : Ryzen 5 5600X
    GPU : Nvidia RTX 5060 Ti (16 GB VRAM model)

    What’s your monitors refresh rate, or what fps do you normally try and hit?

    Ahh I used to run with frame rate limit set to 60 fps in TSW 6 ... so yeah 60 FPS is good for me

    Hello,

    With the new Epic features, it’s true that you don’t need to tweak the Engine.ini file as much, but there is one command I still find essential:

    -TimeOfDaySystem.SunIntensity

    By default, this value is set to 100,000, which makes the game look excessively bright during day. I’ve always lowered it to 30,000, and it looks better that way.

    However, TSW7 now ignores the values specified for TimeOfDaySystem commands on Engine.ini, so the only way to change them is via the "God Mode" mod—but that requires changing the value every time you launch the game.

    Does anyone know a way to modify this value permanently? Or a different way to lower the sun intensity?

    By the way, in that "God Mode" mod, I noticed that TSW7 has lowered the default sky intensity from 100 to 60, interesting...

    Cheers.

    Be careful with modifying streaming pool sizes even if you have plenty of excess VRAM. It was causing CTDs for TSW 6 routes.

    With the new enhanced lighting and epic settings, these are the only custom ini entries I have now:

    [SystemSettings]
    ts2.dbg.Camera.MaxVerticalHeight=20000
    ts2.dbg.MaxFreeCameraDistance=200000
    ts2.passenger.DensityScale=1.8
    r.DefaultFeature.MotionBlur=False
    ts2.dbg.JourneyChapterLockOverride=1
    ts2.save.CheckpointsEnabled=0
    ts2.RewardMonitor.ShowLowImpactNotificationsAsFull=0

    [/Script/Engine.UserInterfaceSettings]
    ApplicationScale=0.650

    Ok. In that case you need to be using smooth motion in the Nvidia app. Cap your in game fps at 30.

    Use DLSS in either ultra quality or quality mode

    if you’re still struggling drop the shadow settings one notch in the graphics menu, followed by view distance and then foliage quality (the latter will introduce the foliage pop-in but that might be just something you have to live with).

    If you do the first 2 I’m confident you won’t need to touch the last option.

    But wouldn't it be too blurry and shimmery using Quality DLSS on 1080p resolution?

    Is the (texture)streaming stuff in the game as default now? I have that in my old ini, too and it worked quite well to counter the stutters. Can I leave that out now?

    I'm on an RTX5060 Ti 16GB and I can run everything on Epic (no tree pop), with DLSS and Quality or Balanced, with the only exception being the TSG Ingolstat route, where I've had to drop the View Distance by one notch to High (some tree pop, but it's not bad). My FPS on that route went from 25 to 60 just with that one change.

    Evening All,

    After a good bit of experimentation over the last day or so, honestly I think TSS's track recommendation is the only one worthwhile

    ts2.dbg.Track.SleeperViewDistanceScale=0
    ts2.dbg.Track.SleeperViewDistanceScaleMax=0
    (I'm not a big lens flare fan...)

    I have found some 3rd party and older routes still have pop in (even newer ones like the riviera line), but a good amount less than vanilla TSW6. The major upgrade for me is the lighting, driving at night is now enjoyable, going past stations and trackside lights is stunning...

    I am lucky to have a very high end system, but the result of the work done here is nothing short of transformational, 120fps (with smooth motion enabled in the nvidia app and the game set to 60FPS max) everything turned up to max at 4k, I can't get enough....

    Well done Jetwash and the DTG team

    The sleeper commands make them almost look 2D, but it's a tradeoff I'd personally take over having the ballast you see 99% of the time on the track ahead of you rendering strangely. :)

    Does anyone know what the ini line is to get rid of the annoying achievement windows that pop up every time you honk for the first time, for example? I can't seem to find it anymore.

    JetWash hey do you think DLAA at 1080p would give comparable results compared to 1080p+150 % resolution scaling with TAA ?

    It would be miles better. DLAA is a far superior form of AA

    Is there also a similar setting that will kill the safety system reminder at the start of a timetable journey but NOT kill the pop-ups in the upper right of the screen for PZB on the German routes?

    In my experience, it will be, as JetWash said, miles better. I was playing at 1440p + 140% screen resolution, and now, just with DLAA, it looks much better than previously. I can also push all settings outside of shadows to the Epic value, and still get better performance, because I can render at 100%.

    Strange, I’m running an AMD 7900 XTX with FSR enabled (native AA + upscaling), and it actually looks worse than rendering at 1440p with 120% screen resolution. With FSR, I see noticeable anti-aliasing artifacts; at 120%, the image looks perfect, but the GPU is more loaded and the fans are louder.
    Is this a bug? All in-game settings are set to maximum.

    I literally just went through this yesterday. I have a 5800X3D & a Sapphire Nitro+ 7800XT. Set the game to 100% screen resolution at 1440, turn on the FSR (Native AA) & frame generation options, and then exit the sim.

    Then, go into the Adrenaline dashboard and turn on these settings as well (in the 'Gaming' section for this game specifically, not the system-wide default). 100% night & day difference. I'm averaging between 145 to 160 FPS using the Adrenaline performance overlay to monitor the system.

    These sleeper commands are transformative for me. Track looks so much better out of the front window!

    Combine this with the lighting changes and I can't believe how good TSW7 looks on my older PC. The whole setup allows me to drive my 2080 graphics card harder and has put off having to buy a new rig.
    Thank you!

    I can't seem to get a smooth experience, even after running the route multiple times; I keep getting long stutters—beyond the usual ones.

    I have an AMD graphics card, and even after enabling FSR options in both the game and the AMD software, the game doesn't feel smooth—the scenery looks like it's sort of shaking...

    Does anyone have any tips on what I could do to improve this?

    Turn it off. It is a known issue that it causes stuttering in CPU intensive games.

    As an aside, trying JT's Crewe preston was a micro stutter nightmare with the 86! Not sure if JT's routes need optimising for TSW7 I don't know but it was unplayable on epic settings, And turning everything down just introduced the dreaded veg pop in! So I implemented the above ini settings and at least it was playable again, sorry Jet it appears the core settings aren't working for me in older routes particularly JT's.

    Without knowing your machines spec it sounds very much like you’re running settings that are too demanding for your PC. Older routes are no different to new routes FWIW.
