The Pegnitztalbahn (Pegnitz Valley Railway) is a scenic railway route in Bavaria, Germany, running from Nürnberg (Nuremberg) to Bayreuth through the countryside of Franconia. The route begins at Nürnberg Hauptbahnhof before heading east through the suburbs towards Lauf an der Pegnitz, Neunkirchen am Sand and Hersbruck. From Hohenstadt onwards, the railway follows the winding Pegnitz River, passing through the dramatic landscapes of Franconian Switzerland and the Veldenstein Forest. ROLLING STOCK DB 648 "LINT" (NEW) The DB Class 648, also known as the Alstom Coradia LINT 41, is one of Germany's most recognisable diesel multiple units. Built for regional services from 1999 onwards, the two-car train was designed to provide fast, comfortable travel on non-electrified routes such as the scenic Pegnitztalbahn between Nürnberg and Bayreuth. DB 612 (Reused) Seen before on Dresden - Chemnitz in TSW2, the DB Class 612 is a two-car diesel multiple unit built by Adtranz and later Bombardier for regional services across Germany. Introduced in the early 2000s, it was designed specifically for non-electrified routes, combining relatively high speeds with tilting technology to reduce journey times on winding railway lines. The Pegnitztalbahn between Nürnberg and Bayreuth would be an excellent addition to TSW because it offers a very different experience from Germany's high-speed and heavily electrified routes, adding more german diesel traction to the game This route would offer something different from the electrified routes we've seen, with the route being Diesel only. **ROUTE HOPPING** Nurnburg Hbf: For Nurnburg - Wurzburg For Nurnburg - Ingolstadt
If you'd extend it by a few stops to Neuenmarkt Wirsberg, I'd be interested for the steam loco museum DDM. Otherwise they should really try to close the mainline gaps first. Kind regards.
This may be one of the most requested German routes overall, and I personally would love it It would go very well with the 612, although the one we've got ingame would need some serious refurbishment. Or do a backdated one, perhaps set in the mid 90's with the BR 614 as the main player, complimented by the 218 with n-Wagen and the upcoming 212 for freight as a side dish Although I fear that the possibility of this route ever getting made have become very slim, since we already got two Nürnberg-based routes in quick succession now...
