At the moment yeah, series X but apparently there was some changes to Xbox gamepass regarding cloud gaming hours or something like that limited to 15H a month which is meh, don’t know how true it is.

but i did wonder if I could just get the game through my Xbox app on PC as that’s what I did with Forza horizon 6 and it works fine, I’ll need to have a look after work!

I do know that you can’t transfer add ons between one console platform and another but can’t you transfer to PC?

No. There's no transfer mechanism between any platforms.

    Yeah I realized today.

downloaded TSW7 via Xbox app on pc but don’t have my other add ons so looks like I’ll be getting the free version via steam and building my collection up again!

update: apparently I should be good because I’m playing via Xbox app or something and it’s linked so I believe I can just download my stuff again but I’m going to check when I’m home.

You shouldn't need to. I bought TSW6 on my series X, have probably 80% of UK routes bought on it too and I now exclusively play the pc versions streamed to the Xbox as you get both the Xbox and pc versions when you buy it.

Edit: To be a bit clearer, I originally bought and played on series x. Blurry textures on GWML annoyed me so now I launch the Xbox pc copy on my pc (which you automatically own along with the series x copy) then stream it from my pc to the Xbox via moonlight app. So now I have the superior pc copy on my big TV controlled by my Xbox controller. No need to rebuy anything.

Yeah I just asked Gemini about my situation and you are correct! I don’t think I’m streaming it thought, I installed it through the Xbox app with the install option so I have the complete game with the UK route and deluxe loco which I’ve got installed on my Xbox!

so when I get home from work tomorrow morning, I SHOULD be able to download the rest of my previous add ons from TSW 6 unless I have to wait for the full game release.

like I said previously, I’m still relatively new to PC and haven’t done stuff like this before so that’s probably why I sound a bit cautious and confused. :)

Mine is also installed on my pc, but instead of sitting at a desk using my pc monitor, I just stream it from my pc to the Xbox so I can sit on my sofa with the big TV.

in 2021 during the height of lockdown i was considering moving from xbox to steam. i had about £150 worth of content but that’s replaceable, my main issue was sourcing a graphics card for a decent price. if only someone had told me that in 2026, they’d be quadruple the price and i’ve now got over a grand worth of dlc. tsw’s successor is likely still a couple of years away, so either it comes out to steam players only, or dtg find a way of making content cross platform compatible. i don’t really know much about that so if the logistics don’t work, it looks like we’ll probably be left behind.

Right that makes sense, I thought it would be something like that but didn’t understand for which platform (steam, Epic etc).

Thats nice then, off work on Tuesday as well so have something to look forward to!

    thanks for the help :)

And yes if you play the PC version from Xbox it has Epic Settings and the full timetable for Frankfurt S-bahn as well.

Just my computer is a potato and won't run it.

Yeah I went through my settings earlier on to see what performs the best and I’m happy.

Only have the UK route installed, ran fine but there was the odd stutter here and there which I’m going to assume is game related (hopefully). Other than that, no issues at all!

The first run of any route will always be more stuttery than normal, as the shader cache builds up. After that it will run smoother, but you'll never be totally free of microstutters as that's simply how UE4 works in loading tiles. Also, once the shader cache fills up, the cached shaders for the older routes you played will get replaced, so you'll be back to square one (unless you have the hard drive space to increase your cache).

That clip should be required viewing for Mr Peddlesen and the rest of the management team.

As noted elsewhere, I folded and coughed up my £58.49 and while not planning to refund it certainly is taking the yellow fluid a little to release with so many bugs and incompleteness. Whatever processes are in place for quality and testing, even programming the game and creating the content, need a drastic overhaul if they are planning to repeat this exercise next year. That clip of Running Train was so telling, just a shame my CPU is slightly under the spec to play it.

Not a surprise its buggy again i will get the free version until improvements are made instead of yearly releases the game should have a complete overhaul to make sure its up to standard before releasing a new one its not cheap to buy either

Some of the comments on that YT clip, to which I’ve added my own, were critical of the review based on early access. However we know that precious little of what has been reported so far will be fixed for tomorrow let alone down the road. Rivet will decline to fix up the Leeds route, the US developer won’t extend the Florida route to its proper destination, the coders will throw up their arms in capitulation at fixing the core features. In short, little will change between now and 1800 tomorrow.

Indeed, I suspect little will change between now and this time next month given the woeful pile of patches that they’ve been sitting on for ages that’ll never see the light of day…

Free version for me tomorrow, no further purchases* until sales have sufficient discount to make the outlay feel like I’m not being a mug.

    * Carlisle-Whitehaven being the exception, for nostalgic reasons

I never give public feedback about TSW since I don't really play it enough to have a strong opinion. But after playing Morristown Line for the first time a month ago and noticing gravel clipping beneath the tracks in the tunnel near Hoboken a whole year after release, I got pretty frustrated. To me, this kind of issue is extremely immersion-breaking on a route which is otherwise well done. They have been making content for this game since 2017. My expectations are much higher today than back then. I really don't understand how it has not been patched after this much time, being a core route :/

Same thoughts here. The TSG steam route also being a possible exception, assuming they have mastered decent steam physics and it releases this decade.

Think I might give Running Train another try now I have a better GPU and the weather has cooled down.b

It is just shocking some of the bugs . Cars driving through your train!!! As the author of the video says , did anyone test it ? How is it deemed acceptable ? It’s the immersion breaking bugs like that ,which I hate the most! But what is incredibly annoying is that some of those immersion breaking bugs may not be fixed for a long time …or maybe never! Instead patches will fix something with the scoring or something trivial wouldn’t surprise me . The only thing that does get their attention is bugs that crash the game , but after that it’s almost like they go for the bugs which are easiest to fix , and not these bigger immersion breaking bugs . I can only think it’s the rush to get the game out on time which might be behind this . But it’s also as the video author says lack of attention to detail at times , lack of polish!

I am actually still planning to purchase TSW7 deluxe but honestly when you see videos like that , it’s not great at all! However I have a high spec computer so hopefully will enjoy the graphical improvements at least!

The way I see it, I can either pay £58.49 now to be a beta tester, or £12.99 in next summer's sale when hopefully most of the bugs are fixed.

The problem I have with it all is that once upon a time I believed the bugs would be fixed. Now I don't. If they can't even fix the buttons in the 805 cab what chance do we have with actual functional errors?

I'm just not buying into this bugfest any more. They'll get my money when they start fixing bugs instead of spouting platitudes. Trust is gone.

Indeed. And frankly I think they have a bit of a cheek trying to sell any of those routes at £32.99 or the additional trains at £14.99 apiece. To be honest, going forward I am clamping down hard on my TSW spend, might even relegate the 3P upcoming releases to a hefty sale discount.

Would it just be easier if DTG copied and pasted last year's threads when they release a 'new' TSW to save everyone the bother of repeating themselves yet again, including when Vern swears blind that he won't fall for it this time, buys it anyway and then complains that he has been duped somehow? Stop buying it if it upsets you this much and move on, like solicitr almost has.

I haven't bought anything TSW-related for over a year. I'll bag the starter edition tomorrow but I won't be spending any money for the foreseeable future. It's not good enough anymore but there are only so many times and in so many ways that it can be said.

No wait. Perhaps this is actually an experiment and the real game is these forums.

It's laughable frankly. I haven't bought TSW7 and will too get the free upgrade. I likely will get the Leeds route and 333 in a few weeks but that's it for now, there are several items on the roadmap I want.

It makes me laugh that the biggest moaners are the ones parting with their money easily. There was a member on one thread really slagging DTG and TSW7 off, vociferously. Guess what, that person turned up in another thread having bought it!

Maybe one of the reasons I'm not one of the bitter angry ones, is that I don't act like a child in a toyshop as soon as something is released.

If a released product cannot be fixed, it certainly cannot be called perfect. Lately, I’ve come to feel that while you might get away with leaving bugs unaddressed—achieving perhaps 80% completion—if the product is free, that doesn't fly for a paid release. It is baffling that fixes aren't made even when the version number changes.

I'm not quite sure why you're feeling this way, but if you're a console player, I totally get where you're coming from! That being said, as others have mentioned, there’s a free starter edition available, so you won't have to spend a thing to upgrade.

The vast majority of us have been around long enough to know how this goes. I've bought every version from the O.G. Rail Simulator, but this year, I'm just picking up the free version and waiting to see. I'm not interested in the US and German routes, and I don't think the Leeds route is worth the full cost of the deluxe version, so I'll wait for sales etc.

Agreed though that its a shame that so many bugs seem to make it from version to version to version

Sorry to see you go dude, I kind of left during TSW 5 release window, and I occasionally pop back to see what is going on. Don't become a stranger as like a few other people have said, you're one of the more grounded people here, even if we've disagreed on stuff in the past.

With all due respect and trying to stay within the community guidelines, the problem has been around for long enough now, and with the promise of this being fixed in TSW 7 and it clearly isn't, is worrying. Personally been saying it for a long time now, whoever is signing off on these issues being resolved, needs to be sacked from the project, or moved into a role where they can't sign off on the projects in these states and someone who has experience in the customer experience put into place. The bean counters really did screw TSW over and they've caused the teams to rush out a yearly build.

Myself and other's said that DTG should adopt a free to play model, which included the training center (which they did), and leave route and loco creation to 3rd parties, with DTG just focusing on polishing the product and fixing bugs, with updates to the core engine released when they were ready, instead of when the publisher said it needs to be released with meaningful and experiencing enhancing improvements. DTG would still make money, because they take a substantial cut from DLC sales.

TSW 7 is releasing tomorrow and I can honestly say this is the first year I feel nothing. No excitement looking forward to the new routes or features. Nothing I’ve seen streamed fills me with confidence especially as a console player so I’ll just pick up the free version.

I'll be honest I'm the same. I've invested over £3000 in TSW over the 6 iterations we've had and that doesn't include moving from Xbox to PC, so probably looking at £6000.

With Running Train's 0.9.4 update released over the weekend, show's what can be done with Unreal Engine when people aren't being pressured by their publisher to get stuff out on a calendar date.

I do see some things in TSW and do question how those things make it through testing or QA, whatever it is called.

like someone said above me, some of us have been playing the game long enough now to know how DTG work and it’s not fair. Do they have enough staff? Resources? Etc, that’s the stuff I do think from time to time, I’ve always wanted for this game to do well.

TSW7, I was very tempted to just get the free edition and buy just the Leeds route but considering I had already cut down my TSW spending towards the end of TSW6, I thought why not since the game does look that little bit better and certain things sound promising but gotten to playing it during early access and it seems just to be the same issue/flaws as from the past.

like some others on here have already stated, I will be cutting down heavily on what I buy and when I buy it, I would love to see something be released without a obvious issue.

With cars crashing into trains, they could have incorporated that into the scoring .. 10 for a car, 20 for a truck etc etc it would add a bit of a GTA feel about it.

At least twice I’ve mentioned wheels on trains that resemble Catherine wheels when moving, diesel legends from Paddington being one… still not fixed. Maybe they’re going to add lots of funky colours to complete the effect.

I just rebought Running Train after watching a couple of clips on YT - it looks far better than the frankly cartoon appearance of the Leeds route and the flat scenery on Florida. I'm hopeful with a new GPU and keeping it dialled down to 1440p it will run better this time round. And only £17 versus the £58 for the TSW7 slop. And yes, I've backed TSW7 back down to the free version, or will be tomorrow. Those three routes and trains not worth it IMHO.

Just gonna say, good luck with RT. The new update pretty much made the game unplayable for me at the settings I was using before (sub 10 FPS in some spots when previously I had a solid 60). Was butter smooth on Ultra before, but I've had to back it down one notch just to get TSW level performance now (at least around the stations). It's gonna go back on the shelf for me until I either get a better PC/GPU or some tweaks get done since the whole appeal was the buttery smoothness and high fidelity (on my machine).

    Still a great game though.

That's because he just added a shed load of NPC's. You can turn them off like he says in the menu until he's optimised them.

Yeah I'm up to speed on the additions so I knew I was going to see some kind of performance hit. Been looking forward to this update. Going by the Steam Discussions I'm far from the only one at least. Even still I'm just going to wait it out rather than turning off features. I need excuses to do a new PC build or upgrade anyway so I'm just adding RT to that little list in my "justifications" back pocket. All the sweeter when I get to play it again proper.

Do you have the ability to turn on DLSS? He's added that as well I believe and FSR 3.

Yeah DLSS is on. Quality preset. I'm not sure if that was a recent addition though as I'm pretty sure it's one of the things that made the game playable and appealing for me from the beginning (at the time TSW obviously didn't have it). I doubt my hardware could've been running it so well previously at top settings without it. I could be wrong though.
