Sorry if I make a few mistakes, I'm not an expert in English and I'm using Google Translate a little.

It can be very useful to know this, whether you're more into short trips, medium trips, or long trips. :D

Personally, I could do a 1h45 or 2 hours max if I really like the route (with or without a break), it wouldn't bother me as long as it's at high speed. I couldn't do 2 hours at 50 km/h for example , which is one of the reasons I quickly refund WSR (too slow).

I remember I used to do 2h plus journeys in MSTS but can barely do an hour these days, my attention span is shot.

A double stint is 2 hours, I find that's a good amount of time in a lot more than just sim racing.

Remember when Europeanbahn had the multiple-part ECML that could be combined into one long route? I still have it, and have yet to try a full run on it lol.

Yeah in TSC I could easily do 2ish hour IC runs, but the caveat here is that I love doing 2-3hour runs that are end to end, but can’t stand doing 90min+ runs that aren’t end to end.

Im also not an enjoyer of the end to end runs that are 90+min but only cover like 30miles (ie US routes).

it really depends on the route. if it’s high speed, i could do a couple of hours but no more, but if it’s a commuter/regional train, then an hour is probably the most i could take

It's true that end-to-end routes make a big difference; I also think I could do easily 2 hours if it's an end-to-end route, but I wouldn't have a problem if it wasn't personally.
Also for me to travel for two hours, there needs to be a minimum number of stations where I can stop because I would have difficulty with high-speed trains where, for two hours (or even 1h30) , you only have one station between the departure station and the arrival station.

In TSW I usually stick to 30 min-ish runs.
However in TSC I've done 3-4 hour express runs, I think even 5 hours on Paddington-Penzance and vice versa. Usually the main issues being the game running out of memory and crashing instead of anything with me. Could never imagine doing something like that in TSW anyway.

Yeah I wonder if this is a factor. I used to do Koeln to Frankfurt (classic route) in MSTS all the time, and it felt like an epic journey (I know that's not actually a full service).

Yeah definitely a consideration, take ECML for example, Leeds to KGX is my ideal gameplay design. Takes just over 2 hours, usual stopping pattern of 3 mid run stops & takes you from a regional hub along 2 track lines, gradually becoming a major centre with multiple track & the backdrop of commuter rail.

Then you’ve got the other side of things such as say Holyhead to Chester. It’s no high speed intercity line & you could argue it doesn’t take you between 2 major centres, but is likely more exciting than say London to Birmingham.

It’s definitely something that has so many variables that people will or won’t enjoy, for example Brighton Mainline has been a favourite of mine across both TSC & TSW, I could happily sit going back and forth for 4+ hours (and I have), but switch that to say Edinburgh to Glasgow & I’ve just never enjoyed that as much, even inclusive of the fact BML uses stock that isn’t necessarily my favourite, but E2G very much does.

It's quite interesting to see that the majority are more fans of 1h30+ journeys (even if the difference with the rest isn't significant). :D

Physically I guess I could do more, but I just get bored and other things come up in life.

I try to do end-to-end services, as I have a hard time stepping of a train at some station where it doesn't end unless you can simulate a natural driver change.
It also depends on what type of service it is. An S-Bahn-service with stops every other kilometre? In that case I'm dead after one hour. An InterCity-service I can go on for two hours.

Record in Run8 has to be 8+ hours though. But I stopped for lunch somewhere in the middle. Around 220 miles, or 350 km, with a manifest train.

These days, the longest services I regularly do are at around 1 hour, due to time constraints :|
Longer services have become rare for me, sadly, but occasionally I keep an evening free to indulge myself ;)

Most of the time I just do some quick 30 minute runs, but get carried away using free roam.
Lucky for you, I only have a 1 hour time limit!

30 to 60 minutes generally. Which is why we need more than one save game slot!

I'll second that. I can only think of two arguments against more game save slots.
    1) It would require another menu screen to manage saves. Not a huge amount of work, but more than nothing.
    2) Save sizes add up. For a game that often is rather large in file sizes, I'm not sure what size each save would be, but especially on consoles that could be an issue for people already upset about too much disk size being used. Now granted you can always delete or overwrite saves, but that requires work by the user.
The first is a relatively minor thing in the grand scheme of things given how much time they've been spending changing around UIs lately. The second could be alleviated by simply limiting it to 6 or less save slots and allowing people to save over them.

There might be a valid reason I'm not seeing, but by definition if I'm not seeing it I don't have it in front of me to consider =-)

It's an option that should be there though - looking in Windows Explorer it looks like the save game files are around 9Mb, so in a game where route DLC's often exceed 10Gb in size, it's a mere bagatelle. Even if they just added a couple of extra slots so we have three, particularly now if you maybe want to keep some Freight Hauler going while playing other routes in the meantime. But sadly, it's as if they just aren't listening (or lack the programming skills to do it).

Once did Dover to Mallaig in TSC... 21 hours (departure late Friday morning for arrival on early Saturday morning), but that was... special :D

In fact I don't play TSW often — I haven't touched it in weeks — but when I do, I play for a full evening, meaning several hours at a stretch.

Yeah, that sounds about right. I start a service with all the best intentions in the world, but if that "play a game for 15 minutes" (reward points) message happens to pop up then it generally gives me way too much incentive to wrap things up there and then. It's not the game that's at fault, it's more to do with the fact that I've played what I own to death (I even completed the entire Rapid Transit timetable for the TSW2 achievement) and it's just gotten a bit uninteresting doing the same stuff over and over.
Maybe it's finally time to move on from TSW5 and catch up on some of the better addons released over the past couple of years.
