When Are You Going To Fix The Sunset Times?

New Miami route. I set it for June 15th at 19:50 - and in the game it’s pitch black. I’m honestly sick of this.

Meanwhile IRL for South Florida:
Phase / Event Local Time (Mid-June) Sky & Lighting Condition
Daylight Until 8:10 PM – 8:15 PM Bright daylight, sun is still above the horizon.
Sunset / Civil Twilight 8:15 PM – 8:42 PM Sun dips below the horizon; golden hour / twilight, ambient light is high.
Navigational Twilight 8:42 PM – 9:21 PM Getting dark rapidly; streetlights turn on, sky turns deep blue.
Astronomical Twilight 9:21 PM – 10:05 PM Late evening, sky is nearly black but not fully dark yet.
True Night (Pitch Black) After 10:05 PM Complete darkness.

DTG, are you waiting for me to get tired of creating these threads? Or will you finally deign to answer? The problem is as old as your game itself.

 

Agreed, it's awful on most routes - I remember first light on Salzburg-Rosenheim being at 02:30!

 

You do get less twilight further south, but it's definitely still wrong for it to be dark before 8pm in June.

Iirc, they never applied daylight savings time to the day/night calendar, which is why it also gets light at like 4am, which is also not right.

SHOULD be a simple fix of just shifting the whole calendar an hour forward

 

The first year of WCMLoS I didn't notice anything, but this year it's been obviously an hour or so out. Feels like a regression.

 

This is a very frustrating issue yeah. On Salzburg Rosenheim its pitch black at 3pm in winter. Not realistic its mostly dark around 5pm.

 

It always appeared to me to be an hour out. As in going dark an hour earlier than it should.

 

I can only agree with that.
I’d already pointed this out in TSW 6 – it can’t be right that it’s pitch black at 5 pm when, in the real world, it was still light at that time.

DTG, could you please respond to this and, ideally, sort it out as soon as possible, as this issue has been going on for far too long in TSW.

 

The internal clock/time which weather is based on needs moving forward an hour. That would sort it out.

Obviously no idea how easy a fix that is.

 

it’s been one of my biggest bug bears for yonks now, on par with rain only appearing on the front carriage of trains. there seemed to be some improvement with medway, but apart from that the whole daylight system needs serious work

 

Not to mention that sunset throws a naff pink-orange glow on to every texture, as if the whole route’s been scattered with hazy desert dust. Not a usual meteorological feature at the likes of Crewe, Doncaster or Birmingham New St!
