Is it just me, or has the font size on the upper part of the traditional HUD suddenly increased since last night's patch?
How the hell could they get any larger? I already disabled them all years ago, because it was impossible to see the upcoming track for them filling so much of the view.
Xbox Series X the same, once you see it, you can’t unsee it like FedEx or Sunkist logos! Side note, is there any way of turning off the current speed limit box on the left hand side of the screen next to the gradient and next station? I get the information from the track monitor so don’t need it again.
Yes. All the UI and objective markers are slightly bigger because it was a requirement to get Steam Deck certification.
Surely it's not going to stay this way?? I'd have thought an option in the settings for a choice of text size would have been sensible!
Well it should be player scaleable for the majority not playing on Steam Deck. Yet another decision being forced on players by some arrogant so and so at DTG - like the ghastly UI colours - who think they know best. The whole point of the discreet HUD as opposed to the big wheel shaped thing was exactly that, to remove screen clutter.
Are DTG actively trying to ruin the game? The level of incompetence here is just baffling. What the dickens are they playing at? The UI design, controller behaviour, HUD elements, is there anything they haven’t ruined? It’s beyond comprehension.
I notice in yesterday's patch notes it says the following: Steam Deck Increased font size on Steam Deck in multiple areas. Hopefully the change within other versions of the game is a mistake and it can be reversed. It really is too big when playing on a PC monitor.
Literally most games nowadays it defaults to the large size on first boot and then the menus have an option for medium or small. Sort yourselves out, DTG.
Surely this is something that should be tied into the HUD size setting? We’re probably going to need a completely new setting built in now though, as it’s in places other than the HUD too. There are so many odd things cropping up since yesterday, this is why people think DTG don’t test things.
I tried to do some timetable mode earlier on Medway Valley and Manchester Commuter on xbox when i went to turn the headlights on i hovered over it and nothing happened it usually highlights the same happened with the throttle and i open the doors on the d pad left and right but it wont let me do that either i really dont like these changes
Hi everyone, Since the latest update, the HUD font scaling seems completely broken. It might not look that obvious on a static screenshot, but in-game it is very noticeable and really messes up readability. The text in the timetable / schedule window is far too large, making words wrap awkwardly and overlap across columns. The top-right distance indicator also has oversized fonts clipping outside the container. Tweaking interface settings doesn't solve it. Is anyone else having this issue since the patch, and is a fix in the works? Thanks!
Try to add this to engine.ini and all will be smaller, the number is the size percentage of the interface: [/Script/Engine.UserInterfaceSettings] ApplicationScale=0.65
Steam Deck is a portable console with a small screen. Needs everything to be big so it can be read in the small screen.
That may well be the case – that DTG has to do it that way for the Steam Deck. But that doesn’t explain why we users on consoles and PCs have to put up with the same thing!
Totally agree with that. PC, consoles and portable consoles all have differences, and they should make the necessary changes to the build that goes to each platform.
I've also noticed this. This needs to be a customisable option for those not on steam decks One annoyance for me is how the text size of the "Distance" label in the track monitor is clearly too large for the UI element and the speed markers overlap into the text box Previously the 'distance' label was behind the train and this didn't happen Previously: Now:
This didn't seem to work for me in full screen windowed mode. It shrunk the entire game window and the UI elements within were still the same scale Possibly iI will try it in full screen mode to see if it makes a difference
I think the latest update, the one released on the 16th of September, screwed up the font size of the scheduler tab since all text appears too big. Could this be connected to the fix they made to some font sizing for Steam Deck and somehow it carried over to Steam PC users? You can see the problem in the image attached.
Hopefully we see a fix for PC users. (Did this change get pushed to the consoles as well?) All these overlapping elements due to the larger font just makes the UI look cheap
