This will never be fixed. We've been waiting for fixes since TSW 3..... Every year it gets removed from the things to do for the next version of the cash cow.

Rizu of Running Train has shown us how it should be done and I think he has spent a lot of time (as a solo developer) getting it just about right (even then I imagine he will improve it) - I think it's only very occasionally thought about it by DTG, but it's just great to see a lot of passengers as you come into a stop on RT, just as you might find at rush hour in real life. There's a lot more passengers about in TSW7 than before (even London Euston is a bit busier), but it's nothing compared to the overall feel of RT and we do want each sim to feel as immersive as possible.

That patch will probably now be for TSW7. TSW6 is dead now. They announced around release day that there's no more support for it. They have to show that people are buying/downloading the new version to keep the shareholders happy.

Yeah, if it comes at all. No one seems to even mention it anymore.

Are you ok? Did your driver manager contact you after the event? Did you notify your union rep?

PSA. To all passengers on the platforms stand behind the yellow line and behave. Or you will have to leave the station. Thankyou.

Now I know the vast majority in this community (including Dovetail themselves) loathe USA routes, but I have to say a good example of good passenger behavior is the Antelope Valley Line. I hadn't played the route for a few months and went back to it today and I have to say they do exactly what they're supposed to do... board and deboard at each station. Though as usual, "end of the line" deboarding needs work as with every other route in TSW. So if LA Union Station is the end of the line... then get off. Now I don't know if these passengers are a TSW7 fix or maybe it wasn't so noticeable to me in TSW6. But I can say when driving it I've ever seen passengers stuck or leaping into the tracks or cars speeding through ignoring loco crossings. Pretty much well behaved passengers. None of that "oh, don't mind me, I'm not really boarding, I'm just going to walk all the way to the end of the platform and then stand there like an idiot" nonsense. So annoying. I would say 95% of the time most of them board and deboard as they should. When the loco's doors open, like a colony of ants they all head for the doors like they all have somewhere to go and somewhere to be. I mean, it is busy Los Angeles so it makes sense you'd want that hustle and bustle simulation. For USA, this would be a good candidate for a simple remaster. Just needs polishing for things like, city street traffic signals not being illuminated red/green in the evening, putting an end to floating cars and adding announcements.

Technically they are behind the line, just not in the way we'd like them to be.

I also mentioned this issue in another thread.
I wonder if the developers are even looking at this. If they think it doesn't affect gameplay, then I feel it's a lost cause. Since the June update, this specific issue has become constant, causing a crash every time. It was so frustrating that I removed the route from my DLC. I'm using the Steam version.

Exact same configuration happened to me last night on the Southeastern Highspeed. 3 ppl hovering over the tracks, like standing in line. Had to drive straight through them. First thing like this I have seen in TSW7 so far. I'm sure there will be more.

I know it’s a game, but it really does shock you especially when they pop out in front of the fast train at the last minute when you’re driving.

I had originally put this on my mental list of cosmetic annoyances, but it was pointed out here on the forum that this game also has real train drivers as players, folks to whom people on the tracks is much worse than an annoyance. I agree, this needs to be much higher on the fix list than it has been.

I must admit passenger behaviour feels like a 2000's simulator. I'm pretty sure the citizens of Tropico 4 looked more realistic.

I had this exact issue at Harrow and Wealdstone where a passenger walked in front of my train as I was about to pass through the station. I applied the emergency breaks and honked the horn on the Class 390.

I had passengers falling from the sky between Bradford and the first station. Not even cats and dogs (also in the game now), even though it was raining.

I wasn't prepared at all for anything like that, and it made me jump. I was just driving through the station, and at a good clip, and there they were, right in front of the train. A tad unsettling really.

Imagine how a real train driver would feel when similar incidents happen in real life. The sheer horror.

DTG Matt - given the above - is there something that could put this on the radar for some priority?

The ultimate irony is that every iteration of the game starts with a mandatory safety warning screen instructing players never to trespass on real railway property—only for the game's own digital passengers to violate that rule moments later.

Agree with all of the above. I'd be happy with some tweak to improve behaviour in TSW7 and a complete overhaul for TSW8.

The better the game gets in terms of route quality and lighting, the more out of place the passengers look to the point that it's now damaging immersion.

For me there's an insufficient alteration of passenger types/clothing to times of the day, types of services. As happens at my local station on the Great Eastern, even semi-rural platforms can be packed with smart looking people at 7am with only small, practical belongings, phone in hand maybe a coffee in the other, the odd suitcase perhaps.
Two hours later and it's a real mix of casual clothing, more older people, more day travelers with kids, more pets and people traveling long distances with cases.
By 9pm a few people heading home from social events, a few late workers heading the other way.
The typical flows of passengers doesn't favour AM into the city, PM going home either.

It's asking a lot but it would make a world of difference if there was a complete overhaul and some way of programming flows and stations that have more unusual flows like big schools, sporting events. But they have to be in there to make it a Train Sim World. No staff about either, where are those yellow vests on the barriers at big stations?

I was talking to my brother about this, only briefly, but he said it simply looks like sloppy work. For example, where passengers are going off the platform over the tracks, it could potentially be something like a nav mesh has been copy-pasted from a location to another where it doesn't fit, although of course he doesn't know that for sure. But he said usually in Unreal Engine a nav mesh is laid down, and that determines the area where the NPCs can navigate, so to go off a platform would mean a nav mesh has been placed where it shouldn't be. It would be a lot of work to tidy up across all the DLCs and stations, which doesn't mean it can't be done.

I keep banging on about station staff in the live chats on youtube streams, I can't see how they can't be added onto platforms, it's so unrealistic not having them in the stations. Again it's just laziness and doing stuff on the cheap.

If that had happened in Dakar 18 you'd have been immediately disqualified and sent back to the start of the level.
