It seems to me that after running Freight Hauler from Dusk to Dawn that the AI trains do not reset and continue the following day. This is no different then it has been for Free Roam since its inception. This bug may be considered a feature if you want to run FH without AI trains to content with. It is also another means to enter into Free Roam with static trains already dispersed on the route. Just start FH one evening and continue into the next day. Whenever you complete FH you might be able to start FR from there. After 12hours and 100 miles traveled I'm still working on my deliverers, 19/39. I think the second half will go quicker.
Finally completed my first freight hauler session on Tri-Rail! Cars Delivered: 16 Time Spent: about 5 hours Distance Driven: 58 miles XP Earned: 36,352 (!) I also learned how to activate the derails. You must be able to get a path approved past the next signal after the derail, and it will open up. There is even a special animation showing it open. Thanks to Harmsway for giving me some ideas to try. I have also found that the best way to keep getting paths, without losing your freight hauler progress box, is to delete your old loco(s) before spawning new ones. If you don't delete your old loco, you might start a new free roam session when sitting in the new loco. You don't want to do that. If you spawn a new loco, and then delete the old one, the new loco will be harder to set up for some reason. In any case, save frequently. I enjoy the gameplay freight hauler provides, and Tri-Rail is a great route for it. That's why I kept playing, even though it was frustrating. Some documentation to start would have been nice, but maybe this thread will help others. Will I keep playing? Probably not for right now, because even just 16 cars took 5 hours, and that is probably the minimum amount of time one could expect to spend. The game very seldom lets you start with anything less than 20 cars. I usually don't have more than 1-2 hours to play at a time, and I like to be finished when I stop, so I can choose something else next time. If there was more than one save slot, then I would be more willing to start a session, because then I wouldn't have to finish that session in order to play something else. Of course, shorter sessions also limit the frustration when impossible situations occur, such as cars stuck on bumpers. And, we are not getting more save slots anytime soon. Suggestions: Fix timer so it doesn't reset Enable cam movement when progress box is displayed Fix "Scheduler" mode so that it works as intended Make sure all cars can appear as empty or loaded; many appear as empties only Make sure cars don't spawn on bumpers or in inaccessible areas that are game-breaking Let the player select the number of cars, 1-50 Let the player select total delivery zones, 1-max # of zones (1 zone only could be to switch a large yard) Enable more different types of cars and liveries (why are there no CSX cars???) Enable freight hauler on key legacy routes (I suggest BPE and NYT) Make a mega freight-hauler specific route (may have other services that are AI for immersion purposes) For each route with freight hauler, create a screen to display number of successful freight hauler completions, most cars delivered/time spent, least cars delivered/time spent, etc. Provide documentation! Hopefully others will share their freight hauler experiences and suggestions here as well. I look forward to that.
Can someone show me a screenshot of the completion screen for freight hauler? I'm curious, I've spent like 12 hours on it on both us and UK but haven't been able to complete it without the game breaking, and it's honestly just getting old now.
Well I was really looking forward to the Freight Hauler feature. I love Derail Valley (may I say that here?) and to have a similar feature was a reason for me not to get the free update but the one with the three new routes. Until now FH is a disappointment. I have played several FH sessions on the UK route, that was quite ok. But on the US route I made 2 sessions so far, each about 3 1/2 hours long, with saves of course, and each session couldn't be finished ! First of all, there was a wagon to fetch at N29th Street Track 1, which exploded when I tried to couple him. And the second time I was trapped behind one of these derail devices which let you in but not out of a siding. So the only solution would be to respawn a loco. But this is Train Simulator World, not Harry Potter ! I will now have a nice, bug-free journey through the Polish countryside in Simrail. And I will come back to TSW7 when there's a decent update that eliminates these bugs...
