Anyone remember this supposed new core feature that was introduced with the Rush Hour bundle+update in 2021? That was when we got the Boston-Providence, Brighton Mainline, and Dresden Riesa routes (which were great routes by the way). The Rush Hour passengers feature was supposed to drastically improve NPC behavior, increase density of NPCs depending on time of day and station, and overall just add more passengers to the routes. Eventually it seems like this feature was just ignored entirely and the passenger system only got worse as the iterations of TSW went on. 5 years on and we still have empty stations, empty trains, passengers disappearing, and a more broken NPC system than ever before.
If I recall, the Rush Hour passenger system only got enabled on a handful of routes around that time period and may have even been rolled back due to issues. Its been a while so it's a little hazy....could be wrong on some of those details
Rush hour passengers led to an increase in passengers in stations in many routes but that's about it. There was no improvements to the behavior of passengers
The rush hour passenger, rushed to leave the game because of performance and being stuck. Some of them also committed suicide, something still happening nowadays because of passengers not happy with the quality of the world they live in.
it’s a shame that the system was abandoned after only a few routes received the upgrade. east coastway got rh passengers but bml still doesn’t. either way the passenger logic needs fixing before huge numbers of them are put in any route
I’m surprised passenger behaviour is still so broken in TSW 7. At least 7-years after TSW launched and passengers still aren’t working properly. Why aren’t they higher on DTG’s list of priorities? Very weird!
The stations are empty because all the passengers are sitting in the parked shut-down trains in the depots. XD
It's probably a bigger job than they expected, but thet're looking into it. Isn't it the tenth anniversary year next year? It'll be TSW-X to celebrate.
Rush hour passengers are present throughout the game, that's all the people on the platforms. In the original release of the game, only individual passengers started spawning in the building once it got loaded on map, so in stations where the path to platform was longer and using some overpasses/subways, they only actually reached the platform when you were already about to depart. That's no longer the case, although the original behavior is still visible on couple places, I think Stolberg on SKA and one station on either RSN or MSB. However, since like TSW5, passengers started disappearing from routes across the board from various bugs and that's getting more and more prevalent. TSW6 and TSW7 both promised significant passenger improvements as core feature, but in neither year anything was delivered.
DTG should literally just hire the guy that did the Running Train passengers. Go to 3:28 for the passengers.
Safety announcements are made even during the opening sequence. I believe that any displays or expressions—which can be easily interpreted based on passenger behavior and the actual display conditions—should be considered for revision.
From day one of Brighton-Victoria, Rush hour passengers were never included on that route because of technical reasons. Five years later I can't see DTG revisiting that issue.
Another instance of instead taking the time towards perfecting an intoduced feature before moving on and adding more features. So instead of 8-10 features that work we get 20 that feel half done.
As I've postulate elsewhere I wonder whether rather than trying to resolve these issues they now just build things around them so that if they did go back and try to fix something it'd end up doing more harm than good because of all the knock-on effects.
