Nonsense, why are you saying that while now knowing a 4k monitor is also a 1080p monitor in disguise?

    https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/lg/27ud58-b

This is a 4K 60Hz monitor that came out in 2018 for under $300.

    https://uk.pcmag.com/graphic-cards/121538/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2070-super

This is a review of the 2070 Super from 2019, which includes "Nvidia's GeForce RTX 2070 Super rules for solid 4K play at 60Hz...".

They don't work on their own, what does this even mean?

This is a 2024 article comparing a 3600 with a 7600 and a 7800X3D. You will note that as the resolution increases the CPU matters less, not more, making the 3600 a BETTER balance for a 4K display with an older GPU.[/QUOTE]

Everyone's feedback is very helpful. PC environments, in particular, vary from person to person, making the adjustments quite a challenge this time around.

Thank you for fighting my corner. I've decided after chatting with the wife I'm going to upgrade in the near future. But I have loved my 2070 and played many games on my 4k monitor and if games have been more demanding I've dropped it to 1440 or 1080.

I just needed help for what settings I needed to do as I find it a bit confusing. If anyone can help me it would be much appreciated.

If you got yourself an enjoyable experience on TSW6 I'd just copy your settings directly, then enable DLSS on quality mode. You should generally be getting a slightly better frame rate on like for like settings plus adding DLSS upscaling.

If you want to try the other DLSS modes, like I mentioned in one of my other replies here you should definitely force preset K in the Nvidia App, as otherwise when you switch to DLSS performance or ultra performance it'll use heavier presets so you don't get as clear of an uplift in performance.

For TSW7, has anyone ran into an instance where in the main menu, the images for the route tiles just keep loading. The picture does not load for the tiles, but they just keep spinning showing they are trying to load. I recently downloaded almost 250 mods from train sim community so I am not too sure if it could be the number of mods.

I also noticed on one of the wcml night runs, the Class 805 has no headlights or taillights. While the mods improve immersion, that is one of the reasons I don't exactly like using them, because it can easily break how the sim is supposed to function

The problem isn’t the number of mods, but the fact that you’re using mods.
It seems that TSW 7 is now having trouble loading the route images in the overview as soon as you use mods.

DTG should fix this as soon as possible, as these issues with the menus in TSW haven’t occurred before.
And DTG should stop telling people to delete their mods, as that won’t make the menu images load properly again.
In my opinion, DTG hasn’t just made things worse with this TSW 7 menu – they’ve actually broken it.

It's 100% sure mod related. DTG has changed the way how this thumbnails are loading and some mods are not compatible. I have 233 mods installed and 1 of them was the problem but I have seen here on the forums that some people have it on multiple mods. So you have to check them one by one to find the them.

The menu still functions without the pictures.

Ah man, that is going to be a nightmare to find the culprit(s) since there is no way to tell which mod is faulty. If only there was a feature or indicator in the add on manager from train sim community or if a feature like that can be built in natively so we can know which mods are faulty and which mods conflict with eachother. Mods further enhance the immersion and realism for TSW but they can also be a headache too trying to troubleshoot, which takes away from actual TSW playtime The tile loading issue for routes in the main menu was not an issue in TSW5 and TSW6 but is introduced in TSW7. There are definitely some things in TSW7 that still need to be fixed like the font on the HUD cutting out at the top as the player reaches the next signal as well. I do remember in a livestream a few months ago though, DTG Matt answered my question regarding mods and while they are encouraged since there is alot of creativity and enhancements to further enhance the player experience, he prefers a pure vanilla experience for TSW, I believe primarily for a clean hassle free installation that performs optimally after each TSW patch. The good thing is, we do have jetwash's 2 most popular mods now featured natively now

I'm curious if it's specifically mods without "assetregistries" causing this issue, they were the primary cause of the out of memory crashes during loading on TSW6, quite a few mods had to release updates to fix this last year. I also repacked a ton of mods manually to add these files in and it reduced my loading time significantly for TSW6.

I'm absolutely no expert on the complexities of modding, aside from some dabbling in creating I'm primarily just a user. But I wonder if that's what's going on here.

An interesting observation is, some Mods like some Enhancement Packs for trains with new sounds ect come with their own thumbnails and all of those are still loading fine at any time.

It definitely seems like earlier iterations of TSW handled loading thumbnails for enhancement packs and other mods better than TSW7

Deleting !Tesco_FKA.pak and NR_153VIU.pak fixed it for me, took it from this thread:

Back to the basics, I uninstalled all 220-250 mods I had and notice the thumbnails load instantly after running a route. Did a test run at night on the NY-Stamford route with all settings maxed out including TAA and had a smooth run from Fordham to Grand Central terminal. 50fps leading into Grand Central Terminal, I was surprised to see that. With mods, I was only getting 10-20, lol. Enjoying without the mods for now :)
