I could see engines taking breaks inbetween, like I believe James currently has at least one part of his timetable where he stops outside the Tidmouth coach shed to take a break (not sure how long that break is though). With engines taking breaks and a good number of them partly or restricted to branchline work, I can already picture it working. If we get the waste dump, we could have Scruff restricted to shunting while Whiff hauls the waste trucks to...wherever they go. Mavis has the whole Anopha Quarry to herself besides the occasional visits from Percy, Diesel and Toby. Thomas doesn't pass Percy and Diesel that often, so I can't see Toby and Daisy clogging up traffic to and from Ffarquhar. Edward would only cover maybe 1/4 of the Main Line before he diverts from Wellsworth towards Brendam too.

Maybe they could have Green Thomas working at Vicarstown as if he was a completely different engine to blue Thomas, he could shunt in that yard and to the station. With most of the action focused around Knapford it’d bring a bit of life to the east side of the island

I also think strange that both blue and green engines exist together in the same dimention, as you mentioned... But he didn't care such a thing at all!!
