Nürnberg Erfurt can be combined with Erfurt Leipzig to create Schnellfahrstrecke Nürnberg Leipzig abbreviated as SNL or SLN Spoiler: SLN Full name Schnellfahrstrecke Leipzig Nürnberg. The German equivalent to the Japanese Tohoku Shinkansen. Difference is that SLN gets late night freight no Sleeper Trains. Unlike Schnellfahrstrecke Hannover Würzburg Lohr Hannover section which has Sleeper trains and Freight
That would definitely be great. Tho I highly doubt Dovetail would release an Addon over the lenght of almost 400km (including the Nürnberg-Ingolstadt HSR). But I guess we can dream
Since Kassel-Würzburg is now a thing, maybe Cologne-Frankfurt could hopefully be the next German high speed route
I was just thinking about it yesterday while being around Würzburg (in game) and looking at the new styled route map at the station. It would be nice if they did extend at least one route in every country, since UK got the extension, two countries left (if LGV is not getting extended). In Germany I see two routes perfect for extension at the moment and Köln-Aachen wins in every way. So hopefully this now can be a thing. Another route fit for extension in my opinion is controversial Münich-Augsburg but not my preference. If I could choose, I would look towards Hamburg or Main Spessart instead but in truth, I don't think MSB would be fit for extension at the moment.
Since we'll get the Editor, now it's possible to create The Schnellfahrstrecke Rhein-Main, and we all can participate in it
This might be interesting for some of you: It's only in Germany but Shows how this route was constructed
Though an extension wouldn't quite be the case. Because almost all of the services from Frankfurt either don't stop in Köln Hbf or just revert direction. None of them continue to Aachen. If we are talking extension, it would make more sense to go to Koblenz Hbf as that would provide a half of RB 48, a sizable portion of RB 26, RE 5 runs to Koblenz, RE 22/RB 24 could be modelled to Hürth-Kalscheuren and Köln Eifeltor would be part of the route, allowing a natural endpoint for freight traffic from Aachen. Also, regional trains from Bonn Hbf towards the Ahr valley would be part of it and more IC/EC/ICE services could be modelled with stopping in Koblenz Hbf, Bonn Hbf and Köln Hbf.
Man, it's been a while. But with the Route Hopping route feature coming to TSW5, this and a SKA Remaster would actually be feasible to do. I'm pretty sure this is fully doable because Kassel - Würzburg exists now and Köln - Frankfurt is roughly as long.
It's definitely no question that so many of us want this route, and DTG is aware of that. I guess the main problem why we'll have to wait is still memory issues with consoles. Since we already have Frankfurt Airport to Frankfurt HBF, it wouldn't be so hard to continue working towards Cologne, as the route won't be as full as the Frankfurt areas. Edit: The Frankfurt Köln Rollercoaster mentioned by Lukas
I too can only vote FOR this route Points that speaks for this route (even if they may be already somewhere mentioned) Lets assume the whole thing: Köln HBF to Frankfurt HBF: - We get a High Speed Line with up to 6 stations!!! (Frankfurt HBF, Frankfurt Flughafen, Montabaur, Limburg, Siegburg/Bonn, Köln HBF) with several ICE-Lines as seen on a actual network map from Deutsche Bahn - and we get also regional lines with regional express and S-Bahn lines between Köln and Bonn as shown on another map: - this route would would also connect two other TSW routes, allowing everyone to drive from Aachen via Köln, Frankfurt to Fulda, then further to Nünberg and Ingolstadt or Kassel ! - and if the timetables would made fit on these routes we would also have a really useful route hopping feature which right now lacks because of different/incompatible timetable (beside the fact, the hopping markers are only on one single location instead on every platform) - it has LESS tunnels then Kassel - Würzburg, but a lot of more interesting curves and challenging gradients - even as the new DLC Ingolstadt - Nürnberg (where also a lot of people are complaining its too short). - have I mentioned lots of people complain Ingolstadt - Nürnberg wa stoo short? Well here ICE has travel times (as with actual timetable) around 50 - 65min (depending how often it stops) Lets assume only: Köln HBF to Frankfurt Flughafen: - I think even that might be sufficient, if you (DTG) are afraid of performance issues in Frankfurt HBF for consoles. - FF Flughafen might be a acceptable alternate end point as from here some ICE goes south to Mannheim, and as I know at least every ICE is stopping here (which is a different thing to the SFS Nürnberg - Ingolstadt, where at Ingolstadt several ones driving through and because of that we cant drive them in timetable). Lets assume only: Köln HBF to Frankfurt Flughafen BUT then with the Wiesbaden branch: - from the SFS branches off a line to Wiesbaden. A section with approx. 10-11 kilometres, no additional new stations. Only needed station: Wiesbaden HBF. And we have this already with S-Bahn Frankfurt in the game. As alternative to a missing Frankfurt HBF in such this DLC would be a nice addition and compromise. Lets assume only: Köln HBF to Frankfurt Flughafen BUT then with the Wiesbaden branch & Köln Airport branch: - am additional branch of around 13 kilometres with 2 additional stations to the Köln Airport would be nice too for additional regional services in Köln area. But I think not neccessary as here at least not much ICE are driving. And because there is one tunnel station, which seems to be a near impossible thing over the last years in TSW () I would be kind and I would want to spare you to build that. But another interesting little bit of extension might be: Lets assume: Köln HBF to Frankfurt Flughafen with the Wiesbaden & Hennef branch - with that you get an natural endpoint of the S-Bahn lines S12 (&S19) with ~ 6km route without additional stations except Hennef as shown on this map:
